With the announcements of Pumpkins United and confirmation that they WILL include Ingo (by way of projections and apparently, mixing his drumming in right with Dani Loeble).. I can't help but listen to this just for Ingo's voice again and again.
Ah nostalgia - this was on one of the first music videos I owned (Hard and Heavy vol 9) and which I had to relagate to the rubbish heap yesterday because it had gone mouldy. I am glad I can still watch it. Kiske was so sweet and young then, I had the biggest school-girl crush on him. Poor Ingo :(
Ingo didn't overdose on anything. He was a schizophrenic and he stopped taking his medicine, then went into a deep psychosis; ended up committing suicide by jumping in front of a train.
It's funny and ironic the fact that weiki states "take care of pink cream 69" like saying "they are good but we are better and we'll keep it that way" and after 5 years andi was with them..
@shadiqrocker I agree on that, Kiske said many bitter things after his exit from Helloween. On the other hand, he rightfully felt betrayed by Weikath who blamed him for the bad sales of the last 2 albums and kicked him out of the band. And I do believe he was right as even Kai Hansen has stated several negative things about Weikath's personality, as well as Grapow and Uly who got kicked out of the band after a few years.
like that they gave shout outs to Rage, and obviously PC69... Rage doesn't get enough credit at all, and they are still making music and touring, today. Check out Rage's "Reign of Fear" album if youve never heard them. It's like melodic thrash, with some progressive elements.
Rage are fucking awesome! You can't go wrong with that German Power/Speed sound. Rage, Blind Guardian, Helloween, Gamma Ray, Grave Digger, Running Wild, Scanner, etc.
@apati80 i agree about Helloween. after Keeper Of The Seven Keys pt.2, they never released anything truly great again. The loss of Hansen was the first blow, and Kiske's departure was the final nail in the coffin. Helloween's career went downhill after 'Chameleon'. i was a metal head in the 90's too and i don't remember the albums with Deris being all that popular or acclaimed at all. the power metal movement in the late 90's saved their reputation imo.
@shadiqrocker You should check the songwriting credits on Chameleon before posting inaccurate crap. Each songwriter wrote 4 songs. Weikath wrote the weakest ones "Windmill" and "Revolution Now". Kiske's "I Believe' is the heaviest song on the album together with Weikath's "Giants". Finally, here's Weikath's opinion of Chameleon: "With this album, we wanted to move forward...During the last three years we have matured both musically and personally...Now we only do what we enjoy most"
@shadiqrocker Compare or count the great albums of the 80's with the ones from the 90's and 00's. They do not even come close. Metal was much more original, fresh and imaginative during the 80's until the early 90's. IMO at least, today there are very few great or even good metal albums released every year. And to end this discussion, Kiske has always been the better singer and still is today. Try Avantasia, Place Vendome, R.R, Kiske/Somerville and this Live clip for proof: watch?v=DANjNbxSaw0
@HerveGamerDude I really love the 80's Helloween, when MW was just a guitar player, but don't like what became of Helloween when he made his deal, got rid of KH, IS, MK and got away with it. If you listen to Helloween Live in UK, I think that it is the best live act of Helloween.
@shadiqrocker I guess that I agree with apati80, you live in a fantasy world. The project Avantasia has become really big during the past decade and the same can be said about Place Vendome. Kiske's new band Unisonic played at Sweden Rock and Masters Of Rock festivals infront of aprx 30,000 fans...who's forgettable?? I've listened to almost all Deris era albums and I truly can't stand most of them. The better songs from Pink Bubbles + Chameleon are miles ahead, musically and vocally. Take care
@shadiqrocker I don't think so, here are his words in 2005 from his interview for the expanded edition of Pink Bubbles: "I've got to admit that I was getting weary of coming up with heavy metal anthems. I wanted to wimp out and go commercial. That explains the crappy tracks (of mine) that are on there..." Weikath decided to kick out Kiske and go back following the old and safe songwriting formula, after Pink Bubbles and Chameleon didn't sell much. He is a good business man.
@shadiqrocker I don't have a problem with Derise's vocal style. It's his vocal colour, tone and technique that annoy me. There are other singers who don't sing in a "clean and high" manner but are memorable and strong like Jorn Lande. Deris struggles live and makes several mistakes. Just listen to his versions of I Want Out, Halloween, etc. For more examples listen to his performance of the old classic songs on the Unarmed album. It was not different but terrible. You like him and it's ok, see u
@apati80 In other words: "Now we just don't care." It happens to all bands sooner or later. Once they get enough money their ambition drops down to castrate levels.
@shadiqrocker He has said several strange and not well though out things and has attacked some people that he shouldn't have. On the other hand, concerning the statements you mentioned, he is not completely wrong. The majority of modern metal music is boring compared to the 80s. Many metal fans are blinded and biased, when dismissing other genres of music or insulting musicians, just because they are not 'metal', etc.
@shadiqrocker There are many metal albums that I think are bad, if that means that I'm not a metal fan so be it. Deris is a bad live singer. For proof listen to almost all Keeper songs and most Walls Of Jericho songs sang by him. Additionally his voice cracks and he goes off key at several instances, that's bad... A blinded fan is someone who considers everything that a bad/line-up releases 'excellent'...Seriously what makes Rabbits excellent and Bubbles bad for example?
To all those who call Weikath a prick and call Kiske the hero: Kiske's voice was out of this world, and he was a big talent, no doubt, and he had a bigger range that Andi. But Kiske was destroying Helloween! Kai and Weikath were the leaders during the Keeper's, but after Kai left, Kiske wanted to control things, and change their style completely. Weikath was against it, but he would not risk going against Kiske, since he found his voice too important to loos. But the style Kiske wanted did not harmonize with the fans, and Weikath had to sack Kiske, and take control over the band again. Of course, Weiki had his own personal problems during this time, and he is also to blame for all that happened, since he, as the band's æeader, should've stood up to Kiske, instead of letting him ruin the band. These are facts! Tommy Hansen (their producer for 10 years) told me this, so stop saying otherwise! I am not saying that Weikath is innocent, but he saved the band in the 90's, when Helloween were going into oblivion, so we should all thank him for that. Besides, he has written SO many classics, and has kept doing that, and he has written their best song ever: How Many Tears! But i'd love if Kiske and Weikath could reconcile, and reunite with Kai, because even though Andi has done a great job, both composing and singing, it's clear that he is loosing his voice, due to smoking and drinking -I think it's time for him to say goodbye with dignity :)
+Mickey Holm Hey man, as much as I appreciate your insider's knowledge about what happened back then, I feel that you are stabbing Andi in the back here. You just said that Kiske was taking the band down with him and now you want him back? Andi is an integral part of the band, over the years he has written more songs than any other member, plus he brings a lot of creative power, which we cannot say about Kiske in this latest efforts as he only provides the voice. Deris needs to take care of his voice, no argument there, and it would be awesome to see the old formation back together for a few gigs, but I very much doubt there would be any chemistry between Weikath and Kiske at this point. I say, let them work on two fronts as they are now and we will continue to have great songs for years to come.
daipaulig I get what yo mean. I fully appreciate what Deris has done for the band, and he has been en essential part of Helloween's return to power. But his voice is done, and if he continue to drink and smoke like he does now, he cannot be Helloween's singer in the future. He drags Helloween down when they play live, I know it sounds hard, but it's true. Kiske doesn't give much more than his voice, bt honestly, that is more than enough. The best Helloween-records, are the ones where Weikath does the most composing, and if they could go back to that era, it wold be good I think. To me, it sounds like Helloween need some fresh air, and change their way of writing. Weikath needs to step up, and write more songs per album, because the albums becomes too alike otherwise, and on their latest release, it was obvious that they lacked vision, though the album was still good :)
+Mickey Holm I get what you mean, too. I'm a big fan of Andi and I feel sorry that he has so neglected his voice. As for the supposed Weikie/Kiske return, I have my doubts that it would work, sounds good in theory (the voice and the brains), but they have apart for too long. But I guess we know at least that it's a possibility (is it?) and not a bad one at all. It worked with Kai Hansen.
daipaulig Agreed. I don't believe that they will ever get things straight with each other, but im really hoping. Weikath has stepped down on the composing a bit, in recent years, which is a big mistake, since he is the most talented songwriter in the band (when he wants to ;) But if Weiki & Kai went together and wrote the songs, and had Kiske singing them....it would become something unique I think. I mean, in recent times, they have both proven that they have evolved great as composers, and imagine, if they got together and wrote a final Keeper-album?! :o "Keeper Of The Seven Keys - The Defining" ;)
@shadiqrocker Finally, read Derise's opinion on Kiske: "Kiske is an exceptional vocalist, and everybody knows that. He put all his heart into his songs and the results were fantastic." For Kiske’s live vocal abilities just check this: watch?v=R5TZsXePDzU. If you can't see that he is one of the best voices out there, just get it in you stubborn head that he is on the same league as Bruce and the better vocalists out there today. I'm done here & that's a Kiske related video by the way. Goodbye
@shadiqrocker Helloween are selling because of their name, they just repeat themselves or come up with lame songs, as do most of the older bands. Blind Guardian & Gamma Ray are much better power metal bands. Kiske was not successful in his solo career, but remember that his albums were promoted to the metal genre which understandably was indifferent to them. On the other hand he proved that he can sing in many different musical genres with no problem.
@shadiqrocker The difference is that Kiske had not played live for 17 years and came back with Unisonic, a new band, to perform infront such a crowd. Whenever Kiske sings with a band or a project everyone starts talking about him. If people had forgotten about him no one would have cared... No I never stated that I can't stand "any" Deris album. The Time Of The Oath and The Dark Ride are good albums. The rest is repetitive and boring for me, as are the newer Iron Maiden & Judas Priest albums
@shadiqrocker These last comments of yours proved that you’re a hardcore and prejudiced metal fan. The Iron Maiden songs you mentioned are good, but 2 or 3 songs per album don’t make a good album. By the way, I saw the band live in ’00 and I had big hopes, Brave New World was good and promising, but everything after that was pretty bad… Sure there were great metal albums releases in the 90’s, but compared with the 80’s they were very few and most were not very original.
@shadiqrocker No matter what your opinion is on the albums Pink Bubbles Go Ape and Chameleon, Kiske's voice was technically perfect and much more powerful and charismatic than Derise's voice ever was! Additionally, stating that all Deris era albums were 'excellent' is really funny and childish, especially when referring to albums like Rabbits Don't Come Easy, Keeper The Legacy and Unarmed!
@shadiqrocker I read through your discussion and you make some really bad points. Kiske was bad after Keeper 2 and all Helloween Deris era albums are better than anything he put out? Come on... Why do you think Kiske has guested with numerous bands, participated on various renowned projects and is considred as one of the best vocalists? Pink Bubbles + Chameleon were mediocre albums, but still songs like Someones Crying, The Chance, Giants and I Believe beat most modern day Helloween efforts.
weiki would know about this... Ingo had a terrible habit with drugs which is why he was fired from Helloween I agree with you about Ingo's schizophrenia ...but what happenes when Someone who is Schizophrenic & takes drugs which mask his mental troubles?
@shadiqrocker You 're blabbing once again. For example, I'm a crazy Iron Maiden fan, but I have always admitted that No Prayer For The Dying, The X Factor, Virtual XI, Dance Of Death and AMOLAD are bad albums. I can state the same for many other metal bands. As for Helloween, Bubbles, Chameleon, Master Of The Rings, Better Than Raw, Rabbits, The Legacy, Gambling and Unarmed range from mediocre to bad. Not a very strong discography if you ask me. No album comes even close to Keepers and Walls.
@shadiqrocker It's not you liking Derise era Helloween albums that makes me say that, everyone has his own tastes. You live in your own little world, because you think that all metal music is still original and strong and that all Deris era Helloween albums and all Iron Maiden albums are excellent. Please wake up. Most of the metal genre has been repeating itself over & over again since the 90's. Bands copying guitar riffs and song structures from other bands, etc. That's original & strong?
@dacpdeath DRUGS ARE GOOD.. DRUGS MADE HIM PLAY AWSOME.. DRUGS KILLED HIM everybody dies!!!!!! IF IT WASNT FOR ALL THE DRUGS THAT HE ID ... HE WONT EVEN BE 1/18 THE DRUMMER HE WAS
@shadiqrocker Deris has a voice for hard rock and is one of the worst live singers out there. He does fit in Helloween, because their sound is built around his voice. Kiske’s voice in Pink Bubbles and Chameleon is technically better and more mature than on the Keepers. For proof listen to songs The Chance, Mankind, Someone’s Crying, Giants, I Believe, etc. Rabbits and Keeper The Legacy are plain bad, if you can’t hear that you ‘re a blinded fan. For me even Gambling is pretty bad
The band currently posing as Helloween is NOT Helloween. The Chameleon + Pink Bubbles albums were made to suck. The band apparently delivered a pair of shitty albums to get out of their recored contract. Instead of dropping the band- the label put the shit records out. The joke is on you if you like those awful albums.
@shadiqrocker These will be my last replies to you, as it is obvious that you live in your own little fantasy world. For further proof that Deris is a bad live singer, compare his version of How Many Tears: watch?v=C7LsWmyWDYI with Kiske's from '92, which isn't his best by the way: watch?v=RQefQHWHxcs You probably don't have an ear for mediocre and bad music, as you believe that anything Deris did with Helloween is a masterpiece. Rabbits is a joke, as is The Legacy and Unarmed...
One of the most underrated drummers ever! An inspiration even to me, and I'm a fucking guitarist!
3:13 Weikath: "Watch out for Pink Cream 69" Those were some prophetic words in that Andi Deris would join Helloween from Pink Cream 69
More of an explanation why Kiske was substituted.
With the announcements of Pumpkins United and confirmation that they WILL include Ingo (by way of projections and apparently, mixing his drumming in right with Dani Loeble).. I can't help but listen to this just for Ingo's voice again and again.
kiske was a hell of a singer and keeper 1 and 2 are the best albums ever made in power metal history period
Yes agree...you must be thrill with the new album
"This is the drummer... He's the leader of the band" I laughed a lot with this... We miss Ingo :'(. "The best drummer ever"

Ingo!!! descansa en paz

He said: "watch out for Pink cream 69" - which means that the band PC69 at the time was the force to be reckoned with.
BRAVO HELLOWEEN..... I'M FANS HELLOWEEN FROM INDONESIA..... AND YOUUUUU............!!!😀 😀 😀 GO GO HELLOWEEN

I cant belive thatingo is gone for ever :( !!
Good old times.
Playing at Donington was very much fun....eh..except two people died...you gotta love the paradox :)
I didn't know that two people died at Donington Festival in 1988

Jusst SomeMusic Its a friend more than a fan
Definitely! Specially because Kiske is a singer!
jje!!! this is new guy of the band!!! jajajajaja!!

at2:11 and this is the drummer the leader in the band haha, R.I.P. Ingo
ingo alive... rip man
@apati80 i agree about Helloween. after Keeper Of The Seven Keys pt.2, they never released anything truly great again. Ingo the best!
LOL that was some forshadowing when he said "Watch out for Pink Cream 69" Than Dreis joins not too long after.
2:10 Ingo♥️ so sweet 😍

@666angelripper666 Really? Nice looking couple if so!
So .. ron smalwood sold helloween or he still with helloween with deris?
Smallwood became Helloween menager in1988 i suppose untill The Dark Ride era!
Ask Michael Weikath.
michael kiske wearing speedos is something i never wanted to see

This just proves that he and Andi are a gay couple, since that time they were together!
Kiddin' =)

Thats not how he passed away.
weiki would know about this... Ingo had a terrible habit with drugs
which is why he was fired from Helloween
I agree with you about Ingo's schizophrenia ...but what happenes when Someone who is Schizophrenic & takes drugs which mask his mental troubles?
Doing drugs never does any good, especially with schizophrenia. It only worsens mental health.
Lucifer's Friend
So we got a new guy.

Yeah, but not because of just overdose. He had Schizophrenia
@HerveGamerDude No, I'm not confusing I said Weikath sucks nevermind if he's the guitar player, he still sucks
@Freyja1133 pot is good drugs are bad
@dacpdeath DRUGS ARE GOOD.. DRUGS MADE HIM PLAY AWSOME.. DRUGS KILLED HIM everybody dies!!!!!! IF IT WASNT FOR ALL THE DRUGS THAT HE ID ... HE WONT EVEN BE 1/18 THE DRUMMER HE WAS
im sorry if you dont know about good music
They're German, do you not hear their accents? omfg....
Kiske rules.. Weikath sucks..!!
dude they are american they speak english
I do drums and play drugs too
@shadiqrocker Deris has a voice for hard rock and is one of the worst live singers out there.
For further proof that Deris is a bad live singer, compare his version of How Many Tears: watch?v=C7LsWmyWDYI with Kiske's from '92, which isn't his best by the way: watch?v=RQefQHWHxcs
You probably don't have an ear for mediocre and bad music, as you believe that anything Deris did with Helloween is a masterpiece. Rabbits is a joke, as is The Legacy and Unarmed...
@HerveGamerDude helloween is gay-metal
weikath is a better guitar player than kiske
kiske sucks
man, what the hell u drink? grapow is a good guitar player but Kai its a lot better...
