+Knobs Thanks! I love your channel!
+gHex Music
Ah shoot, thanks Gilad!
+gHex Music
Perhaps some guest guitar sometime...
:D
+Knobs Count me in!
Gilad rocks!! (but you probably know that already...)
do you have any clue how he dials in his tone here????
Bayo Fayemi Only what he shows in the video.
Never heard him until today. Wonderful player. But it ain't rock, baby.... its JAZZ ;)
@Jens Larsen so do you🤟...big fan...learned a lot from your videos
@@ParkCircusPunks Thank you!
His playing is extremely incredible on its own, but then look at his incredible foot work... Having that subtle volume swell while controlling the freeze... very very impressive indeed...
Would pay money to hear him play with Julian Lage....
Not often do you find somebody with a truly unique style of playing
Been following Gilad's work for years. He's a true talent, a monster player and one of the sweetest guy ever. Love him.
I get so happy when the theme music starts playing haha
+Derek L Us too, that's really why we keep making these Tricks videos, because we really like that theme!
This guy made me want a Boss pedal! That hasn't been done since like '98 when I was a young teen starting to strum. Love your unique outlook at the guitar as an instrument.
love Gilad Hekselman and i have to say the drummer on the last part of the video is AWESOME!
That is 1 of the coolest things I've seem on guitar! I've never heard of Gilad until now. This guy has some serious skills
VERY UNIQUE! Props to you guys at Reverb! IMOH I'm really sick of the same bedroom blues, jazz, rock whatever. I really am interested in something that causes me to re-think music in creative ways. This video was a great example of that. Can't wait for the Tame Impala video, hope it's done right!
wow that tune at the end is incredible, great playing, great episode
anybody else notice the top-left light bulb in the R in the beackground go out around 3:13?
"So I bought the part and, yeah my life is great now."
Thank you for inviting one of my favorite Jazz guitarist. Maybe you could get Rosenwinkel or Kriesberg to stop by.
Los que nombraste son los mejores ;)
@@mathiascastro4329 Matias tenes idea como octava las graves y las agudas queden normales? Gracias
Some of these chords are absolutely beautiful, gonna come back to this video when I have more free time and learn some of these chords!
wow. did not know you could do that with an OC-3. that'd actually be really useful...
do you know how he does it with the pedal?
+mbhaleva considering that I didn't know that it could be done at all, no I do not know how to do it.
You need to be on the poly mode where the third knob becomes the range knob. It allows to choose the affected frequency range from very low to higher frequencies!
Real Feels is definitely some of Gilad's best work.
Gilad is One of the greatest players in the world nowadays 😮
What beautiful playing.
i could listen to this for days on end 😊
I'm not a jazz guy but that performance at the end was fantastic! Love the tune. Maybe it was the trumpet and the clean guitar, but with the simple, airy drums I got an American Football vibe surprisingly. Nevertheless, great!
Chris Morrissey - Minor Silverstein!
Love this! You make it sound so easy Gilad. I'm needing to get a OC-3 and start exploring!
Woooah this dude can play!
Thanks for getting some Jazz cats in
That octaver, man... Im using too, its magnificent. 3 yrs ago I listened to an album by brian blade and wolfgang muthspiel, "friendly travelers". It was a drums-guitar duet. And wolfgang was using an octaver. I was playing with a great drummer at the time. I went out and bought me this little pedal the same week. One of the best things ive picked up!
I'm thinking about picking up a Boss OC3. Can you give more detail how you split the high register to one Amp and the low to a separate source?
besides great playing, this is some really creative use of pedals!
Brilliant player! Thanks for sharing this video!
Such a cool episode! Thanks for sharing.
Phenomenal. Extremely useful.
One of the best players out there today.
I am really impressed by these tricks and by Gilad's control over chaos on the floor. That pedal board is a mess! Spilled spaghetti!
how many boss oc-3 s did this video sell
mine is for sure
Mine too
leo morland That’s what I’d like to know too! 😂
736 I have the figyiz right heeuh
Me 💰
Yay! Gilad! Way to go man!!
That intro music is the BEST
EVAR !
Very cool. Great playing as well.
Amazing man.
This is amazing!!!
Gilad is great, wonderful
Fantastic player.
I have enjoyed Gilad since I first heard of him but, after watching thid video he has become one of my favorites. Also, after watching thid video i can see my bank account shrinking -considerably. I am a jazz guitarist who has always played with a clean sound but, i have just become infatuated with many of The pedqls used by Gilad - Great sound !!!
Impressive dude ! His use of pedals is innovative and musical ! :-)
Nice review and pedals!
Wow, he’s got them mastered: guitar and pedal.
This dude has some serious chops
That bass around 7:20 is soooo good.
Great, thanks !
Really nice one .
I wish I could give two thumbs up for this video!
Great tips
I actually love how tangled and messy his cords all are on the floor like that. just like mine lol
Gr8 stuff bro. Blessings my friend. Ju lien
Great demonstration and sweet playing thanks. You do need a pedal board I feel.. poor cables 🥴
damn, what a meaningful video
I like the Aum symbol at the 12th fret. :)
that OM sign on th 12th fret
anybody know about using that octave pedal in this manner without the bass amp? Thnx
You down with OC-3? Yeah, you know me!
I don't even care about his pedal tricks, I just want to hear him play
Anybody knows what is the name of the delay is he using? thanks
Nice
Clean guy, clean sound, MESSY PEDALBOARD :-O !
That’s the point lol
Where in the world to find this silent switch device?
Anyone got that website for that silent mode for the freeze pedal?
Rather clever
you can do that with an oc3??
Dat boi is off'da muhfuggin CHAIN good.
anyone knows what delay pedal is he using?
Hekselman (I'm a fan) often expresses his fondness for piano, so i wonder why he isn't a pianist..or what keeps him on guitar. Stanley Jordan's approach seems like the ultimate blend of the two instruments. Another curiosity is how he talks about voice leading like it's novel to the guitar. I don't understand -- it's fundamental to any well-played chordal instrument. It's like when Chris Thile talks about playing Bach on stringed instruments like it's something new. I love it, but it's bewildering, because he must know it's nothing new
is the Boss OC-3 the only pedal that can do this function or are there other options?
I'm not sure... but I *DO* know I need to buy one.....Crap.
Behringer ultra octave is an exact copy
Nice performance. Very Frisell-ish
What song is he playing starting at 3:56?
Maybe a Seven string..Great player. (check out the band at the end wow).
Quién sabe el nombre de todos los pedales que tiene ahí????
Like Charlie Hunter. Crazy.
What is the "mod" you did to stop the "clicking" that you refer to at 4:30 by getting a "silent" switch. Where can I read about how to do that?
If you can solder, just replace the switch with one of these: SPST Momentary Soft Touch Footswitch (normally open). If not, get somebody else to do it. It's very cheap and quick. No idea why ehx doesn't fit them as standard.
I posted a video with all the steps to do it on my channel if you're interested! ;) (Want 2 check channel)
I'd been wanting an down-octaver that had that range selection for ages. Does anyone know if there are others that have a similar function, to play bass notes without dropping the top end?
What's wrong with this one?
+Steven Chabot Nothing, in fact I just bought one. I just figured that there would be some competition, as this pedal's been around for ages.
Hey Brian, did you ever find out if there were any alternatives to the boss which have the similar range limiting function?
What did he do to that beautiful guitar?!
amazing
anybody knows which is the song they play in the end?
really nice music.
"Minor Silverstein" - John Raymond & Real Feels
is there any chance to get this interpretation of minor silverstein entirely?
is there any chance to get this interpretation of minor silverstein entirely?
Go to John Raymond's RUclips page. They have a few really good tunes
christoph waltz?
WHAT GUITAR THIS IS ?
What is the orange pedal he starts using at 7:41?
Hotone soul press I think.
Did you guys edit down this video? Like do you have a full one where he talks about the rest of his pedals and the song is longer? Would love to see more!
Hey Daniel! This is the full video but we're trying to get Gilad back in here real soon ;)
Reverb.com awesome! Thanks for letting me know! Can't wait to see more!
Is the song at the end off the latest album or is an improv or unreleased?
+Matt Sanford It's called Minor Silverstein, by the band John Raymond & Real Feels.
Does anyone know how he manages to octave the bass and the treble are normal?Thank you
Boss Oc 3 in poly mode..you can change where the octave effect stops depending on what each song needs
@@geraldfriend256 and what effect or pedal is the one that generates that eternal reverb? Thanks.
@@juanmartino955 I have no idea. There are a bunch of freeze pedals and / or reverb pedals that have infinite reverb.
@@geraldfriend256 thanks
FYI: Gilad's instructional video on Polyphony: jazzheaven.com/gilad
Y e s . . !
I can’t get that sound out of my super octave
what is that volume pedal?
It's a Hotone Soulpress! Pretty small and nice pedal! It's active so you need to powered the pedal, but it gives you a really nice sound with no tone lost!
Anyone know how he gets delay on the high notes but not the bass notes?
The OC-3 lets him split the signal path so he has one bass path and one direct signal path. He sends the bass to a different amp.
but what the toss is he tuned to? all fourths, major thirds...??
Standard
I understand why some bass players get angry at guitarists play bass stuff on their guitar, but I don't think I'd get angry at some 6 or 5 string bass player playing chords in a song with tone that would not make the chords sound muddy.
I guess this is the mod for the EHX Freeze switch which Gilad's using www.mattgallagher.uk/2011/07/replacing-the-footswitch-in-an-ehx-freeze-pedal/
Don't get the OC-5 after this video! They removed the range selection feature, which contravenes Gilad's contrapuntal style with alternation between bass, fillers and solos. I just got one and I'm sending it back, I'd better be looking for a second hand OC-3.
I hope gilad sees the gamechanger audio plus pedal
Wah Wah Hotone??
Cool that he plays in a band with Matt Stone.
Anybody knows which is the song they play in 2:47?
Sunn Earth improvisation.. this happens when you are the fucking boss
I almost forgot this. Is fuckin awesome. Thanks.
It's Minor silverstein :)
Yeah dude, thanks!
WOW great playing but you need Daniel from Gigrig
