Same. For me this is the archetypal FF battle theme, perhaps along with FFIX's battle theme, which is some ways is callback to this style.

100% this, yeah. Which isn't to say it's the BEST battle theme in the series -- I wouldn't even rank it in my top ten, honestly -- but it's absolutely the "gold standard." As DodderingOldMan said in his comment, it's the archetypal FF battle theme. It really is the first thing that comes to mind, every time. It's the default. It's the Mario of battle themes. ;)

Not a glitch. The game’s tutorial clearly states that characters with vanish status are susceptible to magic.

For example, flying enemies are susceptible to non-Earth-elemental attacks, meaning they won't nullify those attacks like they nullify Earth-elemental attacks.
