  • Next up in our series of cities that Silicon Valley residents might consider moving to: Livermore, California. One of the birthplaces of the California wine industry, for many Livermore, represents the best of both worlds. It combines easy access to all compass points of the Bay Area with the warmth and community of SmallTown, USA. With a history that extends back to prehistoric times, to being an important rest-stop of the Gold Rush and becoming home to one of the most important research facilities in the world; Livermore is a town of many layers. Let's take a deep dive into this affordable community just 40 minutes away from Silicon Valley.

Bought in 2019, from San Jose. biggest knock is the heat and my commute(San Mateo)
Other than that the downtown farmers market, restaurants and nightlife/bars are solid. My kids go to good schools and my neighbors are all extremely solid and care for their properties
parks don’t have restrooms so it restricts the homeless. It’s becoming more diverse as far as people and food.

Been living in Livermore for 4 years. Overall, not a bad place to live. It's clean with relatively low crime. The big con is the heat from June-Sept. It gets way too hot sometimes. We are likely going to move to a cooler area.

Very accurate review. The weather does get 5-10 degrees hotter than Bay Area.
Also there’s a big outlet mall
