I’m in 6th grade and from Minnesota and my school is letting 6-8th graders go to Washington in 2023 and I’m SO EXCITED but the early bird special is kind of my Christmas present but still I’m happy
Another thing you'll want (especially if you're visiting a lot of museums) is a smaller purse/wallet you can stash your phone in. There are buildings you can't enter (like the Senate building) with a big bag. The rule of thumb I've always been told is to keep it "roughly the size of a burrito."
He's right on about good walking shoes, a hat and an umbrella. I know the umbrella may sound silly for middle of summer but if nothing else it can provide shade.
Great vlog Rob and Allison! We are keeping an eye on your weather and we hope to come out for a quick visit during the National Cherry Blossom Festival. Hopefully you will be vlogging about this event!
@Murica, mhm I just got back, (before checking your comment) and my feet were bleeding like crazy, my little brother said: " WHY ARE YOUR FEET SO BLOOD????!!" And I was just like, "I shouldn't have packed crocs...... :( anyways thanks for telling me after I knew but thats not your fault its mine.... anyways thanks
Rob, I want to thank you for all these posts. They are super informative and have been helping me plan our trip this coming August. Thanks for all the info and keep up the great work!
Does the National Gallery of Art specifically have lockers? I don’t know how families with kids get around not lugging a backpack. Even just for snacks and water bottles. We are headed to DC next week! I have much appreciated all of your videos!
Hey Rob! A buddy and I were looking into planning a trip to DC soon and one of the things he wanted to do was go to the top of the Washington Monument. We couldn't find much about going to the top. Any help? Maybe a video about this?
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the Washington Monument is closed for repairs until 2019. I recommend the Old Post Office instead: ruclips.net/video/AzOYDsEevRc/видео.html
Helpful! Im going to Washington DC for my 8t grade field trip next year!!! (NEVER TRAVELED OUT OF STATE KINDA SCARED 😨) Bro i have to wake up at 2:30am and go to my school at 3:30am (at night/school night) and get on a plane at idk what time (i live in florida we go in march its gonna be cold) and right after we get there we go to a hotel get a room and start touring like WHAT this was long omg
The public water fountain situation is pretty much the same. Some private businesses might not fill up a bottle but not really sure which will or won't.
Not really. I use a lightweight jacket in spring and fall for evenings when a full blown jacket isn't necessary. A hoodie is fine for that purpose too.

Yes, NGA has checkrooms and large bags and luggage has to be checked.
If there is a CVS is there a wallgreens too? LOL I live in florida and whenever there is a CVS there is ALWAYS a wallgreeens right next to it!
No. There are probably less than 10 Walgreens stores in the city.
Coool
Good call on the allergy meds!
👍

Can you give tips if you are going to New York
Many of these packing tips apply to New York, especially comfortable walking shoes.
my son's going to washinton the end of may, what is the weather like then?
Upwardsoul 218 is it May 20th? Let me guess, is he a saftey patrol and is he in 5th grade andddddd is it a field trip? Lol
Hi! Watching this in 2021. Do you know how the refillable water bottle/water fountain situation is now post covid?
The public water fountain situation is pretty much the same. Some private businesses might not fill up a bottle but not really sure which will or won't.
Nice
I am going to washington dc for a school trip so I dont know if this will apply to me
Is Labor Day weekend good to visit Washington DC? is it going to be hot? Coming from California 🤗
It's a great time to visit! It will feel extremely humid (at least compared to California).
I'm going to Washington DC for the Skool trip in 209 days
theodd10sout 123 I go in 230 days. I can’t believe I’m keeping count... 😂
@@loathe147 so am I!
Blu ø I go in 13 days ;3
I’m going to DC for a field trip and I have allergies.
What about public restrooms??
What about them?
Are restrooms difficult to locate and use? I ask because we had a hard time in California last year finding a public restroom.
Most major tourist sites have plenty of public restrooms. The hardest place to find them are in the neighborhoods like Georgetown.
Do you need a wind jacket, is Washington DC know for wind?
Not really. I use a lightweight jacket in spring and fall for evenings when a full blown jacket isn't necessary. A hoodie is fine for that purpose too.
Great
👍
Really.
If you’re touring the White House, DON’T bring a backpack
