Your illustration was very good. I just have to mention one thing. Level is on a horizontal plane. And plumb is vertical up and down. So when you’re setting your flagpoles you’re plumbing the pole it not leveling it. 😉
Hi,I am planning to install new stainless steel tube flagpole 6 meter long (20 foot) with O.D 2 inch and wall thickness 3 mm.could you please advice me how deep should I dig to concrete it the ground and how much the stainless steel tube should go in the pvc tube .The wedges should be left in the sleeve or should it be removed?
+dimple gogna We would recommend a minimum of 2 ft. depth. You may want to add 6" for additional support. Stainless steel is heavy! Also, Leave the wedges in:) Seal the foundation with calk and a collar cover to prevent water from getting in. Good luck!
Wind moves in one direction at a time, thus the truck only needs to rotate 180 degrees at most. Rotating truck is designed to relieve tension on the pulley, rope, as well as heading on the flag. The cleat can remain stationary and still allow for the truck to rotate as needed. The benefits of internal systems allow the truck top 360 degrees mobility.
Hi guys thanks this video is really helpful. I have one question. After you raised the flagpole and put the flash collar on the concrete, it looked off centered. Is there anything I can do to make sure that it stays centered on the concrete base?
This happens Matt, and is preventable by using a bigger pedestal. You will need to go to a material yard and ask for a larger sonotube than the flash collar you are going to be using. Otherwise, you have to be perfectly centered as you could see. With a larger base you get protection for the flash collar and the better presentation too. Lawnmowers, etc. can play havoc on a flash collar. Normal go to retail outlets only carry up to 12" sonotube. Most of the time there is not a pedestal, the concrete is flush ground level.
Great video! Could someone install a fiberglass flagpole in a galvanized steel collar versus installing it in a fiberglass sleeve? What are the advantages or disadvantages?
Great videos. They helped me a lot. But you were driving me crazy trying to get the pole "LEVEL". A vertical pole would be PLUMB, not level. Don't mind me.....LOL.
I have seen this done before (when the flagpole is held in place from above the flagpole), the trouble is Mother Nature. With the wind or anything that can shift the flagpole, or ground sleeve, off center you will have lost the desired alignment. We go dig first, place ground sleeve, concrete, let it all set up and use the tolerance the ground sleeve offers to get a great result. Let us know how it goes if you are on a project of your own.
It is recommended to caulk between the shaft and the ID of the foundation sleeve. However, on smaller flagpoles, such as the one in this video, it is not necessary. Check the flagpole foundation to see how much sand is in the foundation. Over time, this sand will compact, you may need to fill the sleeve with additional sand.
I would have just used the level, what a great idea, using structures from different angles, to determine if it is level, that is great! probably would not work in Italy, (leaning tower of Pisa)

why didnt u just put a baseplate for that pole instead?? a lot stronger!!

Silly question why not just concrete the hole once the pole is placed.
