    You can't sum up all the endless possibilities of engine tuning with 4 stages, it is infinitely more complex than; 1, 2, 3, 4

    this pisses me off
    "stages" in car tuning is subjective. While one tuner may call "stage 1" to a remap or installing a better exhaust, other tuners may just switch out the air filter and change valvesprings to increase rpms. "Stages" are just an oversimplified way of explaining modifications done to a car and should not be listened to. If someone comes up and tells you that they had a stage 1 done to their car, it doesn't matter as you don't know exactly what has been done to it. What matters at the end of the day is the modifications done to it and not the "stage".
    So stages don't necessarily mean that a car has been modified more or less. What really counts is what has been changed.

      100% spot on and in most cases ECU is always stage 1 as it's just hardware and no parts replacement

  • @davenelson8187
    @davenelson8187 11 дней назад

    Stage 1 might also only include just a mapping of the ECU, without any hardware modifications. There are two types of ECU mapping: OTS (on the spot with a download and laptop) and Flash mapping, which would typically done at a Tuner shop, as far as I know - and just learning!

    Had to look up OTS (on the spot). Coming from an aerospace background, OTS would be called ISM (in situ mapping) LOL

    Car tuning terminology called stages if I talk to a tuner who calls it stages I leave them. Its simply car XYZ makes XYZ HP + - 10hp with XYZ Mods.

      Literally what I was thinking as I was scrolling 😂 hell I bought salvage ecoboost and I’m absolutely sending it! So for all the mods I’m doing all at once, you can pretty much call me stage one.

    So just so your aware because this guy is wrong all stage tunes basically means “ecu reformat” to accommodate the mods you do to a car for example if on a stock tune stage 0 basically that’s tuned for economy so if you throw a cold air intake and an exhaust the car will be a tiny bit quicker but be limited due to the tune not combating the change in airflow, density, and pressure which may lead the stock ecu which changes its input based on variables automatically may lead to it running rich or poor which overtime can wear out O2 sensors, and damage parts essentially a tune stage 1 and up is just changing certain engine behavior that is controlled by the cars computer “ecu” to maximize performance or efficiency based on the mods you have added to a car most “tuning software for the majority of car brands only go up to stage 2 and when you apply additional mods past air intake and exhaust they reprogram the tune to make it accommodate the new mods
