- This video shows every king of the Crusader state of Jerusalem.
While it is true that the counts of Tripoli were consistently vassals of the kings of Jerusalem, the county is historiographically treated as a separate political entity unlike the vassals represented in this video, which focuses primarily on the kingdom of Jerusalem itself and not the crusader states on the whole.
The map shows the territory controlled by the ruler at the end of his reign.

There was never a "templar" king of Jerusalem. The knights template was a completely independent holy order that existed after the reign of baudouin II. They cooperated with the kings of Jerusalem, but they were neither synomounous nor vassals to the kingdom of Jerusalem.

Pffff, when king Baudoin III died, Nur ad din could have attacked the crusader states but he didnt even when it was the perfect occasion because he wanted to let the crusaders mourn their dead without bothering them. But we cannot say the same thing of the crusaders because when Nur ad din died, the king of jerusalem directly launched an offensive on muslim domains and imposed a tax to the widow of Nur ad Din.
Btw Salah ad din didnt wait for baudouin IV to die just to take jerusalem over, I think he fought maybe 2 battles against crusaders ( 1 loss and 1 win two years later) during the reign baudoin IV but this king stopped the fights against muslims by diplomacy & other stuff while other crusader generals and kings kept breaking truces. And Salah ad din never tried to take jerusalem directly, he made the crusaders weak by beating them in various battles and taking cities from them and then he took jerusalem

After Baudouin IV, the kings could barely see Jerusalem on their own map
This was largely due to the fact that Baldwin V died at the age of 9 and his successors - his mother Isabella and his stepfather Guy de Lusignan - were weak and unpopular, in addition to the siege carried out by Saladin in 1187 which took and weakened a large part of the kingdom .
For some reason the crusader kings didn't cooperate with local Christian bedouins in the area, with their desert traveling and camel's riding experties the debacle of Hattin wouldn't ve happened. Also the expansion toward the red see happened later under Renald de Chation and Cuprus was added to the kingdom after the 3th crusade, and Jerusalem and many other cities and Tyberiad were returned to the crusaders in exchange of peace and leaving Damietta.
The thing is they did in the early crusades and a bit in between it was just hard being surrounded by muslims in most fronts there was also the nubian and ethiopian christians in east africa
