Mark Erelli is a great singer/songwriter/guitarist from Massachusetts with a masters degree in Molecular Biology. He regularly tours with Iris DeMent, Catie Curtis and Lori McKenna. Music critics have lauded his latest album, Hope and Other Casualties. Regardless of where you fall in the political spectrum, his brand new song, Volunteer, will provoke some consideration.
I have been a fan of Mark's for many years....he is an amazing artist. Amazing ! If you're not familiar with him....you should listen to his other songs. Talent galore.
Just saw mark live for the first time at SMAC, what a revelation. he was BRILLIANT. best live singer songwriter i've heard in years (and i've seen many). Touch of paul simon, poetry of bob dylan, hint of early springsteen. He touches the heart with his songs and is an amazingly accomplished guitarist. He's the real deal.
I love volunteers. Thank you for your song. I think everyone in this country should hear this song.
I saw Mark once in Boston, MA ... Next to the Boston Public Library. He's a wonderful performer. Wonderful.
as a non army man but a big mark erelli fan ,, all i can say is my heart goes out to the ones that have lost there loved ones in this war but my heart and gratitude also goes out to the men an women off usa and uk military that continue to face the enemy in there own back yard, you are all heros in my eye, any one that continues to show agaisnt this conflict while our men and women still die should take a long look at themselves, god bless all who have lost loved ones
beautiful song.
Nothing short of amazing...like all of his songs
I've heard of Mark, but this is my introduction to his music. Touching .
Wow. Amazing song.
IMO, that is the most powerful song since Barry McGuire's "Eve Of Destruction" (1965). Just one of many amazing songs that Mark has written, both light-hearted and less so. And on top of being so talented, Mark is one very nice guy. Very genuine. Thanks for posting this MDC. A
A moving performance.
First rate song writing. Moving performance.
Thank you,
-Tom
Incredible song with a timely message. Hard to believe there's only been 3500 views?!
I just found this man and as a guardsman this hits hard. My bn is the volunteers and my uncle was there around 03-04 this is heavy. Thank you

We volunteer for our Nation.... May not always agree with everything, but we still figh to keep it free... We fight for the guy to our right and left, those are my brothers. A lot of people disagree, but the majority that disagree are not in the military so they would not understand in the first place. lol. they have never had to sacrifice such a priceless cost!
I post this on my fb page every Veteran's Day. Thank you, Mark.
what a voice....Marc Cohn move over..
hope to catch you live someday......and you sound amazing with Lori MCkenna..
This guy sings and writes such sad songs. I loved this one except for the wailing at the end. See him if you get the chance, I have many times, and he is always amazing.
I get goose bumps every time I hear it. I was active duty military and it rings so true.
This story/song/video really demonstrates where Mark's heart is, and how passionate he is about communicating - a truly gifted human - and totally under-rated.
can i just say his music, like this song for example, gives me the chills? cannot wait for the new albumn. def. agree with RXBANDITS9...he is a brilliant musician. best singer/songwriter from the area!
This is a brilliant video that will make McCain fans think twice.
As a proud retired Marine, this is an incredible song for our active duty and our veterans. It touches my heart on so many levels, and I have to admit, I actually still get goosebumps halfway through (as soon as I hear medivac) every time I hear it. Every single time. It means so much to know that there are people that do their best to understand. When a fellow veteran is down and feeling as though some civilians do not try to relate to his feeling, I give him this song. Thank you for this gift to our service members. Semper Fidelis to you sir!
Mrak, from an Iraq vet who doesn't always agree with your politics, an apolitical song stirring with authentic emotion. I would only hope some of the other posters here could see it the same way.
Thank you.

Great Song. Sad, but it should make everyone appreciate and be grateful for the sacrifices that have been made.... irregardless of the bureaucratic and political bullshit.
