Thank you for this video, I was following it to a tee but must have made a mistake when reconnecting the cables as I finished the job, closed the door, and now the door won’t open from the outside or the inside. Do you know if it’s possible to take the door panel off with the door closed? If not, what is my other option for getting the door open? Thank you for the help!
Your video was very helpful. Thank you so much. We followed every step of the way. After putting everything together, for some reason, the child lock is stuck. We dont know what happened. So now we can’t open the door from the inside. 😢
My reply will sound stupid but i think you forgot one of your linkages. Might want to unscrew the retangular plastic panel behind the door handle and pull on both of those cables to see if one of them will unlock the door from inside.
Great video. Messed up on a step and needing some guidance. I closed my door checking to see if it was snug to the latch. Not I don’t know how to open it, what should I do?
Bob, your videos are great. I hope Lexus sends you a monthly check because there's nobody else with such great tutorials for the Gx460. Do you have any for the door body trim/molding removal and installation? I wanted to replace the chrome with black ones to match the pearl black handles. Also, I'm not a family man so if you want to be absolutely filthy, I'm ok with it.
hahaha, the filthy part i can do. As far as the door moldings, i have not attempted that task yet. I currently have a full plate but may get around to it. Thanks for the suggestion.
awesome Bobby! I wanted to take the panel apart for a while now, there’s been a intermittent “clicky” sound coming out of my rear driver side door when the “TRUCK” is in motion. Now i’m confident taking it apart to see what’s going on.
Hey Bob, NEED HELP! I messed up and didn’t do the door latch portion correctly when putting back together. All looks good but now the door won’t open or close from either side? Is there any easy way to access to get door open in order to repair? Thanks!
Thanks for the tutorial on removing the door panel. I need to replace the glass in the door. Do you think it would be very difficult? Door panel removal looks to be straightforward. Not sure about the glass. Thanks
Do you have any advice for removing the panel while the door is shut? I followed all these steps, but when I shut the door and went to open it, the cables inside must have shifted, because the door won’t open. I fear I’ve made a much bigger problem for myself.
Go to the interior of your vehicle and remove the plastic panel behind your door handle. Then remove the door handle assy from inside along with the 2 cables. Pull on either of those cables and see if it releases your door.
Hi GX*BOB, a subscriber here. Unfortunately, I have to bug you for some information. Where can I buy the door handle replacement? I know there are some out there but your expertise and recommendation is much appreciated. You're videos are life saver and fun. Making learning and work fun. Thank you much
My first go to would be to find GX’s that are wrecked and parting out. Especially private parties. They’re negotiable and plus you can also buy additional as back ups since they’ll be a lot cheaper than buying new at the dealership. But if you have issues finding used ones in the color you want then hit up Bell Lexus in Arizona. They’re the cheapest dealership parts with free shipping and usually have sales during holidays.
Subscribed. Love the channel and help. I just picked up a 2014 GX460 in Tungsten Pearl with Black Leather. Will a body shop be able to paint my door handles to match my paint?? A wrap shop will not be able to match exactly and I don't want black.
Bob, great video. I will be referencing as I need to replace the driver side rear door handle that was pulled completely out by my brother in law. The question, I have is that there appears to be a broken piece on the right side of handle that still in the door. I can't tell if this is part of the handle or another internal door part that's damaged and needs replacement. In looking at your video spot 15.53 I don't see the same piece sticking out of the door. once you remove the small door handle piece, then the handle itself. Any guidance is appreciated.
You killed it! My daughter just broke the drivers rear handle and my wife was floored. I ordered a new handle and was just thinking how does the door panel come off. We have a 2011. Pearl with same interior. The passenger mirror stopped working a few months back too. Won’t adjust with switch, memory control, or fold in. Can I just swap the actuator or will I need a new mirror cap/housing as well? Thanks again for the great video and you really are helping people!
Hey Sean, yes i've noticed these door handles are getting destroyed by kids all over the world. Glad it helped. With your mirror, i would check your fuses if u haven't done so already, then i would tackle the motor portion. Taking the mirrors apart then putting power and ground to your mirror motors to see if it is indeed the motor and not some other loose wire somewhere. Here is a link to get started: ruclips.net/video/klhRxLoulNA/видео.html
I remember checking all of the fuses to find nothing out of sort. Would make sense since not only did the mirror stop but the power folding portion as well. Headed out now to have another look. Thanks Bob

@@GXBOB Update! My 10 year old broke the rear passenger side door handle, a week after I replaced the driver side using your tutorial. Yanked hard on it while door was locked. This one he's paying towards 😡
Excellent video. Thank you
Awesome video, I’ll be using it to replace my door handle that I broke recently. First I’ll have to find one in my color.
glad i can help !
Thank You! Extremely helpful video! Made the job so much easier.
Stop lying. You watched it for the underwear scene just like every one else.
@@GXBOB Lol.. That was funny, I'm expecting spedo's next time 🤣
Great video, I was able to complete the installation with very little problems!
A good instruction video is rarely followed by more questions. Thank you!
great video again Bob, are those the latest shorts from Lululemon?. need to get some ..thanks for all these as usual
Good guess but They're Louis Vuitton.
Might want to unscrew the retangular plastic panel behind the door handle and pull on both of those cables to see if one of them will unlock the door from inside.
thank you for the video...I will have to do this to mine, this definitely will make it easier
Great video. You hit every point. I knocked this out on my vehicle in like 10 minutes.
I believe you hold the current record. Last person did it in 11 min.
Great video. I was able to replace the door handle. Thank you.
Any time dude!
Great video. Messed up on a step and needing some guidance. I closed my door checking to see if it was snug to the latch. Not I don’t know how to open it, what should I do?
Manually open the door by removing the plastic door handle from the inside. Remove the steel cable from the door able and pull until the door opens.
Hey Bob, thanks again for a great video!! I did today in 30 min 😃😃
i bet you will do it in 20 minutes on the next one.
Worked like a charm!! Thank you!!
Ok, the underwear shot earned you a subscriber. Good work Bob.
Damn it. Only thing i learned from doing this was discovering there are more weird people than me.
awesome Bobby! I wanted to take the panel apart for a while now, there’s been a intermittent “clicky” sound coming out of my rear driver side door when the “TRUCK” is in motion. Now i’m confident taking it apart to see what’s going on.
That's going to be tough to trace down a clicking sound if the car is not in motion.
Just wanted to say thank you! Nice video.
Appreciate the comment, thanks!
Hey Bob, NEED HELP! I messed up and didn’t do the door latch portion correctly when putting back together. All looks good but now the door won’t open or close from either side? Is there any easy way to access to get door open in order to repair? Thanks!
Oh wow....ummm.....I would have to replicate that in order to find ways to open it because that has never happened to me.
AMAZING EXPLANATION!! YOURE A PRO.
Glad you think so! I try my best to dummy it down.
AWESOME! MY MAN! Love the blue skivvies…
My neighbors love it too.
@@GXBOB PG 😉👍
Hey Bob, I don't know what I did wrong now my door don't open I need help
First things first, did you accidentally flip your child safety switch on? Secondly, did you remember to put back the yellow fork on at 20:15?
I did figure out that I accidentally had 2 cables crossed but I just got it solved and I want thank you , you're the man
Thanks for the tutorial on removing the door panel. I need to replace the glass in the door. Do you think it would be very difficult? Door panel removal looks to be straightforward. Not sure about the glass. Thanks
i honestly can't tell you as i have never replaced a door glass in my life.
Thank you so much for this video Bob! Just tackled this project today on my 2012 GX. Couldn’t have done it without you.
Thanks Andrew, let me remind you that this channel would not exist without you. 👍
I was in the process of reinstalling the door panel when a 2" black spring dropped out from the panel. Any idea where this may go?
That would be like the blind leading the blind.
@@GXBOB great info GXBOB. Appreciate your take and advice. Sorry for the late response.
Please do a video on installing switch refreshing ( for heated seats ). Thank you.
What in the hell is a switch refreshing?
Worked. Great instructions and details. Thanks!
Glad it helped Luke!
Subscribed. Love the channel and help. I just picked up a 2014 GX460 in Tungsten Pearl with Black Leather. Will a body shop be able to paint my door handles to match my paint?? A wrap shop will not be able to match exactly and I don't want black.
Life saver. Thank you
Bob, great video.
I seriously have absolutely no clue what piece you’re talking about

Excellent video step by step 30m job tk Bob.
Here is a link to get started:
ruclips.net/video/klhRxLoulNA/видео.html
I remember checking all of the fuses to find nothing out of sort. Would make sense since not only did the mirror stop but the power folding portion as well. Headed out now to have another look. Thanks Bob
Great video thank you, could you tell me where you bought your tools to remove the panels?
