maybe if we took the pretense out of 'naming things' giving them grand facades to cover up the boring crap underneath. the HMS Attenborough is a nice idea, but Boaty McBoatface will always have a place in our hearts.
Boaty McBoatface also always has a place on the RRS Sir David Attenborough. It is the official name of one of the drone submarines used by the research vessel.
Budapest, Hungary got a new river bridge opened in 2008, and it was intended to be given a name by a public naming competition - which idea, however, would eventually be dumped when, close to the deadline, the candidate "Chuck Norris Bridge" was clearly winning...
The eventual name was picked by a committee.
They missed a trick.
Its an environmental research vessel, so gaining the attention of the youth and generations to come would've been beneficial.
Boaty McBoatface is easily marketable in world of kids toys/ cartoons/ books/ etc.
Royalties could comfortably pay for the ship's running costs.

And now Mountain Dew contains caffeine, so it tastes like caffeinated radioactive piss.
"Now"?? IDK where you live but in my country, Mountain Dew has not only ALWAYS had caffeine, it's been extremely well known for having a LOT of caffeine as compared to other sodas. Also, it tastes like orange juice, especially the "Throwback" version that's made with real sugar.

It *is* named after Colin Bell. They didn't rename it. It's called the Colin Bell stand.
