  • PSA: This video contains sub-optimal levels of editing, enough to get it done. We have zero script beyond the questions people have sent in. Same for the sound - I forget my microphone pretty regularly, so if you can hear anything count that as a win. Even if that "anything" is tuneless humming. I did pump up the volume though. YMMV if you choose to spend part of your life on this. No Refunds. Enjoy!

Kia Ora from New Zealand - thank you very much for taking the time to answer my question about the early speed timer bracelet! So yes there IS a decent after market version - I'm wearing it right now as I type. It has the exact same set up with the gaps and the curious folded link joiners. However the main difference is that you CAN see the link joiners at the bottom of the end links which actually is an improvement as the end links sit down and flush with the case. Yes that odd sweep hand on that Gold Speed Timer grabbed my attention too! Did you also notice how short that sweep hand is? Also that gold case does not have a notch whereas the blue one next to it does. Maybe this is a transitional model from late 1970 or early 71? My blue 6000 from May 1970 has the two piece sweep hand with the silver coloured centre and a notched case and is proof proof. Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my question! PS I'm on the hunt for a Gold Proof Proof Speed timer with the Sports font in green and Speed Timer in red. Absolutely love the mix of colours and fonts on this.

Hello! RE, Marmite and Vegimite, I'm from the US, and have tasted both. I'm convinced you have to be inoculated with either as a child to appreciate them. I suspect it is spread thinly on purpose in order to moderate the saltyness. TGV talks about "Marmite watches" meaning they're an acquired taste!
Another way to get a series 45 Hi-Beat movement are the King Seiko's. The grail is the chronometer 4502-8010. I have one but not a chronometer. Lovely watch.

I recently bought a repro of that 6139 Stelux bracelet. It’s amazing because it even has the correct clasp AND it has that little three lined logo on the inside of the clasp that seiko did on early bracelets. They managed to copy that which is incredible. Pretty interesting.
I also just got a 6106 8120 like you pointed out, with the original bracelet. Super rare, came to me from Japan.

Sambal is an Indonesian chili sauce or paste, typically made from a mixture of a variety of chilli peppers with secondary ingredients such as shrimp paste, garlic, ginger, shallot, scallion, palm sugar, and lime juice. Sambal is an Indonesian loanword of Javanese origin. It originated from the culinary traditions of Indonesia and is also an integral part of the cuisines of Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, and Sri Lanka. It has also spread through overseas Indonesian populations to the Netherlands and Suriname.

I love my SBDX017 MarineMaster but don’t really like it on the bracelet because it just feels too heavy. I wear it on the SBDX001 rubber strap because it has the rubber keeper instead of the metal keeper that is on the rubber strap that came with my watch. Great combo.

German bread is heavier, more dark ray bread, we have many many kinds of bread here, same in Germany. Bread that is still fresh after 2 days...don't eat that. Dutch and German bread, you eat fresh, it has grains in it and fibre, after two days, it will be either dried out, or not fresh any more. you can still use it to make toast, for a day. If there is no fungus...Bread that does not get old, and does not go bad after a few days...Don't eat that. besides a lot of bread, we eat a lot of Asian/Indonesian food here, naturally, we share 400 years of history. Sambal Ulek is chilipaste.., there are many kinds. An Ulek is a mortar and pestle, you use it to grind the red peppers, sambal is fried chili paste, you put it on rice, and on anything...
