This CIC IDrive Navigation Retrofit from BimmerTech was an EXTREMELY satisfying installation since it was the missing piece my car needed to be the perfect E60. If you have a 2004-2009 BMW E60 5 series, this CIC upgrade should be first on your list if you're thinking of modifying your car. This is especially true if your E60 is a 2008 or 2009 model since it will look exactly like the 2010 E60 once completed which was the last and only model year that actually came with the CIC IDrive from factory. These used 2010 E60's are also the only source where you can get this upgrade so supply is limited. With the CIC IDrive, your E60 5 series will feel just as equipped and modern as the newer F01 7 series (2009-2015), F10 5 series (2011-2016), and F30 3 series (2012-2018) in terms of infotainment system functionality.

Could you adjust the height of the HUD (heads up display) with this upgrade ?
Hello i have this upgrade on my e60 but it only have AUX. I dont have the bluetooth option. Any solution for that ?
Hi so i have a bmw x5 e70 35i 2012 cic radio with a 6,5 inch display and i want to upgrade to a bigger display and a new radio that comes with gps and navigation bc the one i have does not come with that so i want to know if i need do some type of codding to the radio to work on my bmw and the new display ?
a friend of mine has a 08.2009 BMW E60 535d, with a non-navi iDrive version (*the M-ASKII), and i wanna know if he can retrofit the CIC iDrive with original bluetooth audio into the car (*with the wide screen), and what coding is needed? thank'
Good day I have a 07 e60 and want to to the retrofit can I get a Cic head unit from a 3 series E90 to complete the retrofit
I have a 2010 528i(not idrive)will this work in mine and which system do I need the ccc or cic so I know which one purchase
Very thorough walk-through + detailed-explanation of this conversion - well done! I'm also in Vancouver & am s l o w l y looking for a LCI e61 (wagon...) to replace my '05 e46 M-Sport wagon. Curious where you found your very-nicely-spec'd e60?
Thank you! I found it at a small used dealership in North Van called Weymouth back in 2014. I had been looking for a while and I came across it the same day the ad was posted so I bought it immediately. If I were you I would only buy the 2010 model with navigation so you can get the CIC Idrive from factory. Then you only need to retrofit the Combox for Bluetooth audio and Spotify
I have a 2007 525i and the Idrive is dead. I don't know if the screen is just burned out or if it's the entire system. Want to replace with the CIC. Should I replace the screen as well?
Hi
Can you help please
How fix air-conditioning to work
I did pin 21
Thanks
Hello, You will help with coding e60 2007 year cic and combox BN2000 added and two inputs connected usb in combox
Hello ! a 525d is now mine. (Only NAVI Business :( ) BUT its a Edition ex 1st owner and nice condition. WHERE can I find a good detailed installation uprading a NAVI Business to a CIC system ( Yes I will need a. the monitor, b. the computer and c. a cable what I had in mind........thanks for feedback
Speedometer and idrieve fitting console buttons interior lighting ambient lights everything I'm missing are these massively padded M5 seats that ultimately make the biggest difference I still have the very simple ones inside I can still remember my BMW E39 facelift actually came as standard but it had this very powerful one However, the previous owner had the seats converted and expanded at a tailor in Serbia for little money. They were so good that I was the center of attention everywhere. All the BMW freaks asked me where I got them. Unfortunately, I never researched where this artist lives I don't like yours either 👍🏻 Greetings from Vienna
Heres a question that concerns me: Does the traffic still work? I need traffic in my navigation
Dude, I though you were Sean Penn. I'm sure you've been told this before. Anyway, with that swap and on a long trip, will be be able to see on this CIC the temperature gauge, voltmeter, etc???
Is there any place they can do this in Manchester United Kingdom?
Nice video mate
I praise you for making this video! Will the CIC Idrive work if I do not have navigation in my 2008 535i bmw
Yes of course, it will be an even bigger upgrade for you then, but you might need some extra parts, just reach out to BimmerTech with your VIN -> www.bimmer-tech.net/category-bmw-cic-navigation-system-retrofit
I have a e60 2009 with CIC, in Europe it was earlier
Hello! I have an european E60 from 2004 but it's equipped with the older M-ASK1 unit (not the M-ASK2 like yours) . This mod will still be compatible? Thanks
Yes, but at this point you are better off selling it and finding a 2010 E60 with the CIC from factory
I have same year car , i retrofitted the cic and it worked well , it is plug and play, the coding is only matter also with combox adapter
Was that polish language on the title screen ccc?
I have been wanting to update this. I even looked up for an update in the BMW website. Mines is an 2010 E60. It has the crappy idrive that looks outdated. Will this work for my model year? U mentioned 2004 to 2009.
Of course, and it will be even easier for you since you already have the Controller. BMW would never do it for you since they want you to buy the F10, but the CIC in the F10 looks like crap since there is too much glare. Just contact BimmerTech with your VIN right here -> www.bimmer-tech.net/category-bmw-cic-navigation-system-retrofit
Hi bro
I did my CIC retrofit on my LCI E60 and all seems to work but i have no sound at all even when i put reverse i dont have any sound and the usb drive isnt recognize in the screen, i didnt done the coding by the way
You have to code the CIC to the VIN of your car since the car that your CIC came from probably had a different sound system option and did not have the USB audio. Watch this video, skip to the part where I show you the coding -> ruclips.net/video/AhwvlACXag8/видео.html
I did everything though did in your vehicle but don’t know how to code the new AUX to play video on the iPhone 4S. Could you let me know how to get that done?
ruclips.net/video/FFdHu7GhKg8/видео.html
Did bimmertech need to send you a special icom device to plug the obd cable to your laptop in order to code the car I hear for the e60 it is necessary ?
Yes, they send you a K+DCAN to USB cable that plugs into your OBD2 port www.bimmer-tech.net/category-bmw-cic-navigation-system-retrofit
I got an 04 if I take mine to BMW for the software update will it play movies and stuff after? I also upgraded the screen on dashboard we have the same screen but the idrive menu still looks like the old one
You need to install the CIC HEAD UNIT to get all the extra features. Watch the WHOLE VIDEO to find out. You can order the whole package from here -> www.bimmer-tech.net/category-bmw-cic-navigation-system-retrofit
Your wood panels seem too dark for the E60 model? Are those stock? If not, can you provide where you got those from? thank you.
It is the dark bamboo wood trim and it was a factory option. There were several different pattern wood trims available for the E60 and the one I have is the darkest one. It does looker darker under certain lighting and at night it looks black.
@@bmwdiy I've never seen it this dark for e60 models. Where do you even find these?
Hey if i have the e70 x5 2008 do I have to replace the screen if If i change the head unit or would I have to replace the head unit and screen?
Public Enemy You will have to upgrade the screen to the CIC screen as well since it is much higher resolution and the connections from the CIC head unit to the new screen are different. You can check compatibility with your car here -> www.bimmer-tech.net/category-bmw-cic-navigation-system-retrofit
I have a 2004 530i with the ccc non navigation logi 7 I looked at the kit on bimmertech trying to figure out if i would need a combox.

i had that new trim u have and ur new control unit but i still have the old i drive, what should i buy
please help
Watch this ruclips.net/video/AhwvlACXag8/видео.html all the parts are the same, the only difference is the CIC head unit is specific to the E60 or E9X so make sure the ebay ad says it came from a 2009 or 2010 E60 (the later build date the better), the connections on the back are the same as the E90 one, the coding is the same
wow ! amazing
Hey my friend can the cic module from and 2011 528i work on a 2006bmw 530i?
No, it has to be a CIC unit from another E60 (2009-2010)

ruclips.net/video/jozV--ldsDc/видео.html
Will this work for my 08 528i? I have the ccc last model year old idrive
Yes, it will work with any E60, and it's even easier and more worthwhile if your car is an LCI E60 which yours is since it's a 2008
I have a 2009 e60 w a small screen will it work if I get the big 1 in the video will it b connectable
Yes, contact BimmerTech with your VIN -> www.bimmer-tech.net/category-bmw-cic-navigation-system-retrofit
Hi, I have a '05 530i with Navi Pro but I have the more basic climate control, do you know if the faceplate for the climate will be the same?
The faceplate will be different so you would have to upgrade to the newer climate control, but in your case I would say it’s not worth it, I would just sell the car and look for a 2009-2010 E60 that comes with the CIC from factory, then all you have to do is retrofit the Combox so you can get OEM Bluetooth Audio, Spotify & USB Video like I show you in my other videos. Hope that helps!
@@bmwdiy thanks for the reply! I've only had the car for a couple of weeks, so selling is not really an option. I think I'll just try to figure something out

fd3s795 thats either a coding or mechanical issue.
ruclips.net/channel/UCtDmfPuIwuyuAGNfHIMEi6A
Will this work on a e60 5 series 520i 2004?
Yes, it will be easier if the car already has navigation. If not, you are better off selling it and getting a 2009-2010 (depending where you are) E60 with navigation so it comes with the CIC from factory
so does this work on the m5 and if so do you need a diferent version of the software
Yes it does and you can code it yourself to the VIN of your M5 and it will code the option list of your car to the CIC head unit. You can get the head unit and screen from eBay. I just did a video showing everything on my 335i. The parts and coding are the same except the only difference is the CIC head unit is specific to the E60 so make sure it says E60 in the ebay ad. The connections on the back are the same as the E90 CIC. ruclips.net/video/AhwvlACXag8/видео.html
@@bmwdiy thanks for the reply
I have a 2009 545i with the ccc. Can I purchase a oem 2010 cic with I drive from a 2010 and install it plug and play into my 09?
Yes, absolutely! The CIC Retrofit will be even easier for you since your 2009 E60 should already have the CIC controller. You can get the retrofit here -> www.bimmer-tech.net/category-bmw-cic-navigation-system-retrofit
It is worth every penny, especially if you get the Combox for Bluetooth Audio and USB Video like I show you in the other videos. Are you sure your car is a 545i though? The 545i was only sold in 2004-2005
BMW DIY right on thanks man appreciate your videos. Very clean e60!
It's so strange, cuz I have e60 2010 LCI and I don't have that dvd drive, only cd's, the old fan switches and I have aux in the back, mic and answer call buttons on steering wheel. But on the screen I have only radio and cd's. Nothing about bluetooth or aux. Can't I just somehow programm this or do I have to change it to cic?
Your car probably does not have Navigation and the screen is a smaller box in the middle. Only the 2010 E60s with Navigation in North America were blessed with the CIC IDrive. There is no way to get all the new features without upgrading the IDrive to the CIC and adding the COMBOX in the trunk to get Bluetooth Audio and Album art. The good news is that your 2010 E60 should already have the newer controller which makes navigating easier. You can get the CIC Retrofit here -> www.bimmer-tech.net/category-bmw-cic-navigation-system-retrofit
@@bmwdiy Thank you for the answer. The screen is a small box, so it means I have to get that too. I have the newer controller switch, at least something good. Thank you for the link!
@@bmwdiy I checked by VIN and it says that it's Not compatible with your BMW 5-Series 525D, strange
I would send them a message or call their customer service and speak to someone just to be sure since it should work
It is still possible to buy newest maps for the oldest type of iDrive. So the navigation isn't useless, at least in Europe.
Newest maps for CCC is 2015, anything else you see is fake
@@bmwdiy no its not. i have the 2019 map originally bmw
@@ImPraysNotice he didn't answer you.
Can you use the original CCC screen with a CIC unit?
No
There are Map updates for CCC, 25€ on ebay, then you get the 2019 maps
They are FAKE, BMW Officially stopped supporting map updates for the CCC in North America in 2015,
Here is an ad for the "NEWEST" CCC map update, if you look more closely on the disc you will see 2015.

@@bmwdiy That's correct. 2015 is the last official update and is the most recent version of maps that a BMW E60 owner can find.
Will this work with my 2007 BMW 525i E60?
Yes, but you are better off selling it and buying a 2010 E60 that comes with the CIC and all the other LCI upgrades such as better door panels and headlights/taillights
Will this work on my 2008 E60 528xi ?
Absolutely -> www.bimmer-tech.net/category-bmw-cic-navigation-system-retrofit

Im in newzealand . Sorry . I cant cover that thanks anyway
Can you keep that os new look? I have seen other videos were you have to hold the menu button for 2-3 seconds to switch from old operating system to the new one.
In those videos they are just replacing the screen with an Android one that *looks* like the CIC Idrive but its a cheap aftermarket bullshit copycat. You don't want that because you are still left with the bullshit CCC Idrive underneath which is unreliable, outdated, and slow. Remember the CIC Idrive is more than just an entertainment upgrade, it is the brains of the car since all the modules and sensors feed right into it and you get improved reliability. It is something that actually came from factory only on 2010 E60s in North America. With the CIC, you permanently have the new OS, you don't need to switch back and forth.
will this work with my ccc bmw 320d se touring 2006 can i change to cic with video and rest of standard stuff and were can i get intire set up for my car please could anyone help me im in united kingdom

If I bring you the parts you do the labor for me ?
Sure, can you come to Vancouver? Make sure you get a head unit with a later build date, late 2009 or early 2010 if possible so it is more likely to have the latest software update (C1A) then it will be easier for me to code the Navigation and update to 2022 maps with the K+DCAN cable. You can reach me at 16047220682, my name is Ray
Thanks, do you think this will be possible in a 2007 LCI E63?
Yes, absolutely, you can check compatibility with your VIN here -> www.bimmer-tech.net/shop/bmw-6-series-e63-e64/navigation-retrofits/cic-navigation-retrofit
You might be able to get the parts cheaper on eBay, but you can't always trust if they are working and you won't be provided with the necessary coding to make it work with your car. Bimmertech does an amazing job of answering any questions and providing you with the complete package, instructions, and coding to make the installation go as smoothly as possible.
I would only do this retrofit on a LCI E60 or E63 since it will look exactly like the 2010 E60 or E63 once completed. I think the older pre-LCI cars aren't worth salvaging and upgrading since they are prone to so many defects and are best sold in favour of the LCI cars.
In europe at 2008
I own a 535i 2010 M package, is the head-up display an aftermarket?
No, it is an OEM factory option. I haven’t seen very many 2010 E60’s with Head-up display for some reason. I was very close to buying a 2010 E60 with CIC (but no head-up display) when I bought my car but they were asking $10,000 more so I’m glad I got my 2008 because you can retrofit the CIC but you can’t retrofit the OEM head-up display unless you want to cut into the dashboard and even then I don’t think it’s possible.
I was in until he said you had to have a windows laptop for coding. Oh well.
You're really going to let that stop you? lol
@@theblinkstykrab3106 funny bc I bought a cheap pc laptop for this purpose. Then never used it since.

have you thought about changing your harddrive for a SSD? www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1426773
Thank you for this, it might be a good idea in the future. The only benefit I can see is improved reliability for the IDrive data to be safe and the files not getting corrupt down the road. I wouldn't really need more hard drive space for music since I find the best setup is to have an iPhone 4S 64GB in the armrest for Album Art and USB VIDEO & a newer iPhone beside the handbrake for Bluetooth Audio and Spotify. Have you upgraded yours to an SSD? If so, does it load the navigation any faster?
@@bmwdiy The SSD mod I have been thinking about for our 2009 3 series. The maps and Nav are supposed to load much faster; especially that there are newer SSDs. It is also supposed to help with MP3s that you store from the CD using the car to read them in (that said, I have many discs that I still can't use, as I haven't been able to update the gracenote DB). I found your awesome retrofit (especially love that you use OEM), when trying to figure out whether it made sense to add a larger screen to a 2007 e60. My challenge is that as much as I like the retrofit; there are some pretty simple hacks that enable bluetooth streaming of audio (www.ebay.com/itm/Car-bluetooth-5-0-Module-AUX-Cable-Adapter-CD-For-for-BMW-E60-63-65-66-81-82-87/124289206110) or (www.amazon.com/Mpow-Bluetooth-Receiver-Hands-Free-Assistant/dp/B075JBLGLB/), and then for Nav there is Waze or Google maps with realtime traffic. Neither of the latter require any work to get the Navigation system installed. Especially, that mine is a pre-lci ;)

@@bmwdiy so basically my dads E90 has a M-ASK idrive and we only have the arrow option of the map but not the full map perspective is this the case because I don’t have the navigation disk inside?
