The Seagull is a dual effect pedal, based around a classic wah wah cirquit. A reversed cirquit allows you to dial in the unique seagull effect David Gilmour did on Pink Floyd's Echoes while a standard wah wah circuit acts like a cocked or fixed wah, great for adding a bit of high mids boost to your tone.

A lot of people overlook the fact that the same effect was used on Is There Anybody Out There😉
Also Embryo live
Björn i just wanted to say that you‘re one of the nicest most sympathetic youtubers and bloggers i am following thanks for the quality content and for the more than often times you helped me get those gilmour tones down!
Thanks for the kind words and support Nino!
@@gilmourishofficial you‘re more than welcome! 🙏🏽
The effect was discovered by accident when gilmore plugged his wah pedal in backwards
3:27 'The Nile song'!
Yep!
Awesome! Great for modern setups not requiring a bulky Wah for limited purposes! I’ve just got myself an early 1970’s Thomas Organ Crybaby Wah Made in Sepulveda California so I can do the seagull effect! It’s such a cool effect to be able to do and control!
Analogman Albatross pedal + Deluxe Memory Man = this exact sound too
If I didn't already have a fixed wah pedal (MXR Kerry King signature model) I would give this serious consideration. However, given that the likelihood of me using that seagull sound is very small, it would be an expensive luxury item. Great sounding pedal though and a nice demo. 🙂
👍 cool strat!
I bought one this past Thursday when I got the email update from Jam, because........ Is there anybody out there?
It is a very experimental product and has been expected for a long time. Thanks for introducing!
Analog Mike made an excellent “Seagull” effect/cocked wah effect in small numbers and it was great though I didn’t pull the trigger and buy it. I’ll definitely check this out!
He still sells the albatross pedal on his website. I ordered mine last year. It’s awesome
That pedal is pretty much spot on for the seagull sound. Very very cool.
Big thumbs up Bjorn! I might try to source the bigger pedal. Happy new year.
Thanks! The Pink Flow is expensive but it's got pretty much everything you need.
David plays folk music alot now,Polly his wife writes alot of songs
That was Gilmour making that sound....?!
Hawkwind! Thanks for heads up Bjorn on Sesgull
Love It! Amazing pedal. Kisses from Brazil!
Thanks!
Thank you for this review, really helps…
Now with the pedal we don't have to reverse input the wah but the traditional way is still has the best sound. ❤️
Wow was not expecting this, so great!
Thanks!
Another Great demo Bjorn...... loved the playing 👍
Thanks!
hmm, il put it next to my Hatsune Miku and fart pedal.
This seems like a cool idea for a pedal; because of the hassle of switching patch cables about in order to go between the seagull effect on a normal induction wah and wah usage. It's a pity you can't get to use an expression pedal or auto-wah in the wah mode which just does cocked wah, I think?
Actually, I'm not sure; but from glancing at the website it looks like the other ideas have been implemented in other pedals (or their custom options) from the same company.
Would this pedal work with David Gilmour's EMG pickups?
I haven't tried but I would imagine it doesn't. You need passive pickups.
Hi Bjorn,
thanks for your videos...
this pedal work on active pu? thanks
No, only passive.
liked... subbed.. bell on !
Thank you!!!
Hi Bjørn! Glad to see the gilmourish channel back in the sub notifications, instantly subbed to your new channel. I was wondering if you have any experience with the Blammo Voltage Booster, a Colorsound clone? Looking forward to your upcoming projects! Thanks again
- Zach.
Thank you!!! I haven’t tried it.
You got into early Hawkwind territory there towards the end. Dave Brock would be proud.
Ha ha, yeah I thought that too when I recorded it. Fun experimenting!
Cool! Just bought the jam Pedal Wahcko pedal with a switch for the Seagull effect. It was fun for five minutes but the Wah is great which is why I bought it. You have the seagull effect down! It’s a a little hard to “play” so maybe I should practice more haha. Thanks again Bjorn!
Thank you! Yes, it's tricky because you need to find the sweetspot on the wah and tone control. It's also sensitive to types of electronics, sheilding etc. I have a Strat with the exact same setup as this black one but I have to use a different pickup position and it doesn't sound quite right.
I thought it was going to be a one trick pony, but that's a very cool tone on the Nile Song!
Yes, check out Mike Herman's review as well for more sounds.
@@gilmourishofficial Thanks for the heads! Just checked in- It does that "Money for Nothing" cocked wah thing so well!!!
Really enjoy your channel. Long time fan. Please keep it up and thanks for all your doing! Love your music!
Thank you!
Great demo, where would you recommend putting this in a signal chain?
Thanks! First, like a wah wah.
Hello Björk ,a question for you :witch expression Pedals may i use with the dark side pedal from Keeley Electronics thank a lot
I haven't explored that but I imagine that you can use most expression pedals.
@@gilmourishofficial thank you for tour answer Björk but i have also the pulse Pedals from Dawner prince ,would you please tell me the expression Pedals do you use because my Boss Pedals FV 500H is not OK .THANK A LOT Björk.
Uncle Dave shows us how to get the best out of every note...to 1/4 step to double step bends vibrato and.... tremolo wich is important in alot of his songs but can be done without
Love you, jam. But, no.
Hi Bjorn! Just got the Seagull pedal and maybe you can help me understand something here. On it's own it works just fine but in the board it doesn't do the Seagull effect at all AND doesn't work with a wireless unit! Doesn't matter where in the board I put it either! Plus I have to toggle the volume knob instead of the tone pot they say in their manual. Plus how'd you get the effect at 2:23 with the slide? Can't get that either! Do I have a dud possibly?
The wah circuit is very sensitive to buffers and active units so to get the right effect, you need to use passive single coils, have the Seagull first and no buffers in your chain.
@@gilmourishofficial Thanks for your help with this!! I really appreciate it!!! I found that it works on humbucker pickups because I tried it with my Moderne as well, I didn't know it had to be single coil pickups but I'm lost on this buffer aspect. So you can't use it in your pedalboard?
@@gilmourishofficial Got it figured out, Much appreciate your help in this! Can't wait for more of your solo and Airbag music! Cheers from Canada!
Please add some crunch sounds in future which David and other great Rock stars Prefer to handle this sort of tones in their own Projects because it's special for rock players and it's something between Overdrive and Clean!
That’s VERY cool! 🙌🏻
After seing the title from the notification I thought "it has no sense", but after seing the controls I thought "I might have one of those" 😂😂
Well done as always Bjorn!
Thank you! Yes, it's a really cool pedal!
Groovy indeed
Hi Björn, do you have a video of your rig and pedals? Cheers
No, I need to make one!
@@gilmourishofficial I'm really curious to see whats on your board.
Björn, do you think you could get use out of such a pedal?
I really liked the cocked wah effect so I can definitely see my self using that.
@@gilmourishofficial I understand why. By the way, have you tried using the Neo Instruments Ventilator for Leslie tones? I’ve used the original Ventilator for years, but I just bought the Mini Vent II, which is fantastic sounding. It does Leslie and a nice, useable chorus.
What delay did you use with the slide?
It's the Echorec from Pulsar Audio.
Nice!
Excellent video and great performance!
This pedals sounds fantastic!!!👏🏻👏🏻
Did you try the last Keeley Eccos Delay and looper???(it’s also white)Do you think the Keeley will work for Gilmour tones? It has that delays and flanger… Thanks and congratulations for your new RUclips channel!!!🔥🎸🤘🏻😎🙅🏻♂️
Thank you! I haven't tried the Eccos but judging by the reviews it seem to cover David's tones.
Björn, what the music at the beginning?
It's a short piece I recorded years ago for these videos.
@@gilmourishofficial very cool!
Great pedal. It triggered a bit of GAS...
Does the seagull effect work with any guitar, or does it have to be the typical Fender wiring? Have you tried it with your Les Paul?
It has to be passive pickups. You can use humbuckers too but the pitch will be different.
Bjorn your channel is fantastic. I still remember browsing your page and conversing with you when I was more or less still a kid and it’s amazing how you’ve become THE go to guy for anyone who wants to get a Gilmour tone.
Also I’m still using the shortened tremolo arm you sorted out for me back then (way before the DG signature strat was ever a thing). Hope you’re doing well, and love all the videos.
P.S years ago you had some great audio from your Floyd tribute band, I’d love to hear those again. I remember you had Time, Run Like Hell and Comfortably Numb. Time was brilliant, I’m sure you based it on the live versions from around 75.
Thanks for your kind words! Gilmourish turns 20 years next year. Imagine that! Thanks for your support!
You are great!!!!
Thank you!
Would this work in front of a modeller. Unfortunately I don't have an actual amp.
Not sure. I wouldn't think so but I haven't tried.
hey Bjorn. Great stuff. I really enjoyed what you played at the end there! Nice demo of the pedal. I may have to pick it up in the future :)
Thanks!
i can’t imagine paying for a pedal like that so u can replicate a single sound used on 1 floyd song
You don't have to.
The pedal is just brilliant.....
Great pedal!
Indeed!
To your knowledge did David ever use pitch shift effects?
He used the Digitech Whammy on Marooned and The Blue.
@@gilmourishofficial Thanks!
Can I use it with active EMGs?
No, it has to be passive electronics.
Great demo!!
Thank you!
Jam pedals Rock
Bjorn does the Pink Flow do the same thing with the cocked wah setting.
No, it's only got the reversed wah circuit.
