I don’t like how there is no chance to escape if you make a loud noise by accident. Instead, Alex freezes in terror as you hear a monster approaching in the distance which isn’t really there until the cinematic that it forced you into is over. The use of the microphone isn’t fun knowing you can’t taunt the monsters and then hide. I just keep it muted knowing I won’t make a sound anyway. If you’re in a scenario where a Death Angel is walking around, it’s not very interesting because if you make a noise it knows where you are. There is nothing you can do about it either, because if you sneak away from that spot you made the sound the thing will just charge at you as if it can see you. I love A Quiet Place, and Day One is my favorite movie ever, but this game is not good. I’m still going to try and finish it because it’s A Quiet Place.
@@joeyhughley7592 Not true. Marcus runs through a corn field and knocks himself out which is REALLY loud but the monster didn’t get him. Even when you move away from the place you made sound they follow you as if they can see you.
Wow... I was half expecting to be rolling my eyes halfway through this review. That being said, I'm happy to discover that I was way off. Thank you for a very concise, comprehensive review. I was picking up what you were putting down the entire way. And I laughed... In fact, I really might have to play this title until the credits roll in the off-chance that the protagonist has an opportunity to stab one of these lanky Pumpkin-Head-mimes with a sharpened pregnancy test along the way... 🤔
What about graphics and performance? I have a ps5 and pc. I’ve read on steam and on pc the frame rate is meant to be abysmal. What is the frame rate like on ps5?
The problem on PC it's not an optimization problem, it's a technical problem, there's a conflict with some nvidia options. For some reason if you keep the fps limit uncapped, goes at 22 fps, but if you keep the fps limit even at 240fps the game is super smooth and pretty optimized. On Ps5 it's for sure 30 solid fps, but I believe it even goes to 60, but I'm not 100% sure on that
@@eliascalfi9179 usually on ps5. There is a quality mode 30fps and performance mode 60fps. If it’s 30fps only then it’s a no for me. Thank you for your reply.
Bought this day one. It's pretty good and accomplishes what it sets out to do. It looks great and I enjoy stealth in general. However, it's the most goddam annoying trial and error I've ever experienced. Also I'm stuck and can't progress cos the monster knows where I am even when I'm hidden and silent. The asthma mechanic can take a running jump as well. Bit disappointed.
Would you say it's not as good as Still Wakes The Deep? That game mixed things up with its environment and chase sequences... Is this the same or worse/less engaging?
Hmm that's a great question. Personally, I think A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is more fun to play technically speaking. There's more mechanics, and things to balance. So the gameplay feels more engaging, and it feels more like a "game." But Still Wakes The Deep has a far better setting, more likeable characters, and the story/pacing was top-tier most of the time. (For a game in that genre). But still, in terms of gameplay it fell short for me. At the end of the day tho, Still Wakes The Deep I find to be the more rewarding experience and the game I'll wanna replay more often. But it's worth noting that as of writing this comment I still haven't completed The Road Ahead
I've been enjoying this a lot! I find it kind of odd that I enjoy the angels of death, aren't relentlessly chasing you.. I HATE stalker enemies even though I quite enjoy survival horror.
I like stalker enemies every now & then, especially when they're only present for little sections of the game. (Like Lady D in RE8 or Nemesis in RE3 remake). But generally speaking I agree. I find myself less interested in games that use them as the main enemy/threat
It shouldnt be touted as such then, i really thought this would be like alien isolation in terms of the creatures mechanics, also thought it would be open world non linear sort of trying to survive in that world but its more of a linear semi opened world story game based on a quiet place and im good with that back to soms of the forest i go tho
this was a very concise review and very helpful. I feel it's one I would like to play but based on what you presented here, I would go in without high expectations. I will probably watch one of my usual let's players play part of it and if I also like what I see there, then I will play it myself.
legit having stalker tyoe monster's that wander a round the world (similar to mr.x as you mentioned) Legit would changed this game from a D to a C+ for me
No she was pretty hot and believable. She is a reflection of Mary and Mary is just an average generic women. It seems James wasn't really focusing on looks when he married her
I don't think the characters' models are ugly. We complained and they fixed them. RUclipsrs pause at the worst part and say, "See ugly." We all look bad during movement or talking sometimes. I hope that doesn't stop you from enjoy the game.
The movie is one of the dumbest premises I've ever seen and the aliens don't even make sense. The movie was too cringe for me that I dropped it halfway through, can't even imagine that someone would make a game based on such a stupid concept.

I thought this game looked like crap since it was announced.
