Yep. Its so gross how crimes where the victim is a man and the perp a woman is portrayed as less than or less serious than crimes where the woman is the victim. Why cant we treat all of them with the same level if seriousness and care!
ABSOLUTELY!! Unfortunately because the world so often views men as either the perpetrator or the protector they seem to care less about the shitty things that happen to men just in general and in situations like this. Men can be the victims and women can be the perpetrators. In most cases Men often get longer sentences than women for the same crimes. The vocabulary is often very different when the man is a victim as well. It’s a damn shame.
Remember when people criticized Gypsy Rose Blanchard for her actions, saying "Why not just run away and go to the cops?" After seeing this case, I understand why Gypsy thought it was better to take the law into her own hands.
I totally agree. Gypsy is eligible for parole at the end of this year and I truly hope she gets her freedom…I’m disappointed she went to jail at all, honestly.
I was still terrified of my dad (in a way) in my 40s, as a fully functional adult with a job, who traveled, etc, and he was 93. 3 months before dying he pushed me violently and called me trash. That was our last interaction. i didn't go to the hospital when he died. Feel a bit weird about it, but mostly that i stood up for myself.
@@IzzyOnTheMoveI am a survivor from an abusive father. Don’t feel guilty about not seeing him then. This is what he earned. You kept in touch with him in spite of everything he did. He did not deserve that. You gave him more than what he deserved from you. So don’t feel guilty about that; don’t carry it ❤ He did not deserve such a wonderful child ❤️
HOW can they not be bringing charges against her? It doesn't matter that he was an adult, he's been locked in rooms, drugged, mentally abused. even if he says he wasn't sexually assaulted, but someone forcefully making their way into your shower and making you bathe them naked IS assault.
That fat grifter Quanell X ruined Rudy's chances of ever seeing justice (and yes, QX is a grifter. A cursory Google search will show all the lawsuits against him from clients he claimed to "help."). Who on god's green earth thinks it's a good idea to go running his mouth to the cameras like this before Rudy has gotten to speak to a lawyer??? Claiming that Rudy was constantly on drugs for years on end is the ***perfect*** way to make any story they have to tell instantly not credible.
I understand what happened to Rudy. It's like when a baby elephant is chained to a chair and it grows up not even considering that they can break the chain. Trauma is so convenient for controlling opportunists.
That's an amazing way of putting it. My boyfriend always asks why I didn't do X,Y,Z to stop the abuse from family members as I was growing up, and this explains it perfectly.
@@KRL1999aybe instead of your bf asking you (the victim) what YOU did or didn’t do, maybe he should be asking WHY your FAMILY did x,y,z to their child. That’s just me though.
Sadly, I think the police are absolutely victim blaming here. They are completely dismissing the power dynamic, grooming, and human trafficking. Instead they are insisting because he's an adult and keeps returning to his abuser that everything was perfectly consensual and not abuse. This is sadly still a very common take by law enforcement for adult victims of human trafficking.
Why do people (especially police) still not believe that a man or boy can be physically and sexually abused by a woman? If this was a female where this had started when the female was a girl, the man that did that would be locked up and the woman would be looked after. Why is a boy who was manipulated by his mother (let’s say groomed) not held in the same esteem? EF THESE DOUBLE STANDARDS!
That’s what it’s like being a male right now. Go take a look at comments on Stephanie’s recent “familicide video.” It was all “men abuse women. Women, if you’re being abused by a man, do something about it.” The whole tone of that video was reflected in the comments; no one acknowledges/cares that women are also abusers. There are plenty of people who’d call me a misogynist for even suggesting that “sometimes, females abuse males.” Being “woke” is fine, but extremism in all its forms is BAD.
I'm adopted but found my birth mother when I was 21. She had married my father two years after my birth and I was thrilled to find I had a full younger sister and brother. Our mother was nothing like I had imagined her to be. My brother developed an alcohol addiction as he had started drinking from the age of eleven. What eleven year did starts drinking unless there's something wrong. He eventually confided in me that he started drinking after picking up our mother's half drunk gin and tonic one morning because he felt so stressed from his mother's constant screaming and yelling. He also told me that he had memories of his mother giving him oral sex when he was 3 years old. When he was 14 he lost his virginity from his mom's 40 year old best friend. Our mother set it all up as a "gift" to my brother. Both my siblings always told me how lucky I was to have been given up for adoption and not raised by our mother. I agree!
It's literally just like the same as a white male teen and a black male teen. They will call the white teen over 18 a teen and a black person of the same age as a man. It happens all the time and really makes no sense. Technically both are adults. But media loves pushing a certain narrative. Seems at that point you have to question what the narrative is supposed to be that would make them happy
@araneljones not necessarily. He's been sued for scamming the people he claims he's helping. He's also victim shamming a 12 yr old for her SA saying she could have stopped it. Not to mention he has lied multiple times. He's a KNOWN liar.
So his name is Rudolph, he went by Rudy. Disappeared and then a nephew named Dolph showed up??? HOW DID NO ONE REALIZE?! She didn’t even try that hard to hide him. They completely failed him
This is what I was wondering. If I met someone named Dolph I would immediately assume their full name is Rudolph or Rodolfo. I mean, it’s that or Adolf/Adolfo, and I’d hope that no one is naming their kid _that_ .
So true. I was so glad to see her channel in the collection that news nations chose to highlight as the responsible and compassionate channels. Out of all the true crime channels, they picked 4 of the best and Stephanie is definitely one of them! I love your videos Stephanie! They’re ones you can always count on to be thoroughly researched and the straight up truth.
Ten to one the brainwashing started when he was a kid, and if you're raised in a situation like this, just turning 18 doesn't mean all the chains fall off, so it's no wonder he didn't "just leave" when he became an adult. He probably doesn't think like an adult right now.
Agreed. If parental manipulation starts in early childhood, the victims don't miraculously break free on their 18th birthday. And also: If his mental age was around 10 when he "disappeared" at 17 like some people who knew him have said, it doesn't really matter how old his body is. The "mother" was also the only person in Rudy's life, and she apparently kept him on some pretty disorienting drugs. We're obviously not talking about a sober, healthy, normal 25 year old here, and he shouldn't be treated like one. This case is just sick!!!
That is 100% true! I was abused horribly and was still in their control is my 50’s. It’s so hard to stand up to your abusers… ESPECIALLY when it is family. I had to walk away! They took my inheritance from my grandma when I was living among them so I knew they would think of some other way to take my inheritance from my father, then my mother so there was not even a financial benefit to stay, if I would have chose to. The very best way to heal is to walk away. You will always be the selfish self centered evil one so you will have nothing to loose! It’s GAS LIGHTING AT ITS BEST! In my opinion!
When you’re raised this way, you don’t even COMPREHEND that you’re separate from the Abuser who uses Coercive Control. You genuinely BELIEVE that you must be attached to the abuser for your very survival (you’re taught to think that way and as a small child, you don’t even know there’s any other way). Then, the fact that your abuser is SUPPOSED to be the one who protects you, but doesn’t, and in fact, is the CAUSE of your trauma, confusion, gaslighting, etc- that in and of itself is the deepest core wound of the entire scenario of abuse. The rest just falls in line with all that. (See Betrayal Trauma Theory by Dr Jennifer Freyd, University of Oregon) Also, you want to study a REALLY MESSED UP case? Look into Jennifer Freyd’s childhood. Holy Shitballs Batman.
Mr. X has not always been known for his integrity. Don’t get me wrong, I applaud what he is doing, but he is a private citizen. The officers are civil servants. Emphasis on ‘servant.’ Yes, domestic violence victims are different because a domestic violence victim asks for help or she doesn’t get it. They still need warrants, and evidence and cannot use “hear-say.” They have to proof it all.
Personally, I would be really mad if I was Rudy. It should be his story to tell, if and when he's ready, in as much detail as he wishes to give. I think it was so wrong for Mr. X to give those graphic details.
Mr.X is a fraud. He isn't a free advocate and usually charges a couple grand or do cases that will give him publicity. Plus he says he is an advocate for the poor and disadvantage poc but lives in the richest whitest area
Mr X is a known fraud in houston. There are countless articles written about him on how he scams the families he advocates for. Plus he uses that money to live in the most richest area in houston while try to say he still one of the disadvantage he speaks for.
it boils my blood when reporters ask why adult male victims didn’t “just leave.” this is why male victims don’t speak on their traumas and abuse. do better people. thanks for another great video stephanie
Yet Quinall X blamed a 10 year old gang rape victim for not doing enough to prevent the rape. (Google Quinall X Cleveland Texas) I don’t doubt Rudy was abused but Quinall X is a POS of a human being.
@@Tanya49655look, I’m the last person to cape for men, but honestly it’s true - male reports of DV are treated very differently, both by authorities and by their peers. Men are supposed to be tougher and stronger than women, therefore, they’re supposed to be more impervious to physical abuse - certainly emotional abuse. I met a few DV survivors in the armed forces through my ex (himself a battered spouse prior to our dating) and the attitudes they got from their so-called mates was horrific. Teased, called “fannies (basically pussies),” or just told to laugh it off. It isn’t the same experience.
There is NO DOUBT that Houston PD is completely negligent in this case! They are absolutely embarrassed to have egg all over their faces !!! Mind blowing 😮
if this abuser was a man and the victim was his daughter, they would have been arrested by now. the way this has been handled is so egregious, the victim deserves better than this :(
10000% this. I’ve even seen some commenters here saying he’s lying and the “poor mom” probably has mental health issues and her son is lying because he doesn’t want to pay rent? It’s insanity and unfair af
I bet Stephanie has a son because she was very fair about the sexist treatment the public was giving that young man. She hit the nail on the head when she said nobody questions female victims about why they didn’t leave, how absurd to even imply this child being abused by his sole living parent was not abused! He was likely groomed from a very young age!!
I 100% believe and stand by Quanelle! He was visibly angry and disturbed by what Rudy told him. That’s not acting. The police department doesn’t want to admit wrongdoing. It’s a tale as old as time.
They would have to admit to 8 years of wrong doing having been done under their nose. There is ALOT that the police missed. Including speaking to Rudy in person when he was supposedly missing.
Not just the “we fucked up and didn’t notice for 8 years” wrongdoing but the kind of fucking up that makes it seem very plausible that they aren’t just completely incompetent, they actually might have been actively colluding to cover it up.
Not only would they have to admit having dropped the ball all these years, but it might open them up to a hefty lawsuit. Much better to sacrifice Rudy to his abusive mother than to risk having to pay tons of money in a settlement and getting raked across the coals in the media.
This is so upsetting. I’m confused why they let him go home with his abuser. If you think of the Gabby Petito case, didn’t the police tell her and Brian they must stay apart for 24 hours?? After they pulled them over?? So that’s a thing right? A 24 hour apart can be placed on two adults, regardless?? Also when does child abuse age stop and elder abuse start? What age? Bare with me on this thought process…so ‘he’s an adult’ so they can’t stop him from returning to the home with his abusive mother?? Because he’s not a ‘child’ but if it was the other way around, you’re not telling me they’d let a mother return to house with an abusive son?? Even if she’s a adult that wouldn’t happen?? So adult or not, they could have stepped in, surely?? I'm just wondering at what age do police start caring again, they have laws to protect kids, laws to protect the elderly but everything in the middle is just ignored?? Like seriously this scares me, how many people are out there living this awful life. Has she been brought up on wasting police time, charity fraud, lying to police officer, people get arrested for far less…do something police, come on!! What I find horrifying is that she used (among other things) a fear of being arrested to keep him from escaping or speaking out. And what are the police doing? Making it seem like he might get in trouble for lying, which he was doing out of fear _of_ them. Now she's alone with him, she can easily show him those clips and say "look, I was right, now you have to say/do xyz or you'll get arrested for sure". And why wouldn't he believe her? And by not arresting her and allowing him to go home with her sounds like they're telling him she did nothing wrong. Proving her right plus saying she did nothing wrong? And I guarantee that if this was a father and a daughter, there'd be zero "she's an adult and she wanted to go back with him soooo 🤷🏻♂"
I pray that everyone remembers that Rudy is a victim. So often, the victim gets attacked by people who do not understand abuse. She should definitely get jail time because she victimized a ( what she admitted herself) vulnerable adult. That’s why adult protection service exist. Similar to a elder abuse case.
Exactly! With more and more child abuse taking place in the world (creating traumatized and vulnerable adults,) and the rate of people being diagnosed with autism, ADHD, and mental health disorders increasing every year... why are we STILL not supporting and protecting adults from being groomed and abused by other adults?!? There are more "vulnerable adults" now than ever before, and there needs to be laws (and a social dept dedicated to) protecting them, as well as protecting children and the elderly!
@@psychicrenegade I totally agree. I can feel the compassion shifting from him. I personally feel like it’s appalling for them to be publicly interviewing him at this vulnerable time.

Yep, Those who belong in the special secret club usually don’t get prosecuted when doing a crime. I wouldn’t be surprised if she used him as sex trafficking or pimping him out. @allisonwhistler That's weird- I've been told 3 times, (four counting you) by 3 different ppl in 3 different states that Houston has scary ppl. Just what others have said. I dont go around asking.
Love Quanell. You can see how much he cares for this boy. Not even due to crying. Just the weight of his words. The pain in his eyes. As he said: "Damn shame, man..."
It took me years to fully understand and come to terms with my parents' abuse. Even without drugs or any learning disability, your entire life is shaped by your parents, they rule the world you live in from the moment you are born. This can't be underestimated in abuse situations, it's hard to see your parents in a bad light since they are the ones that teach you how to see the world and they are the only reference that you have for the world you live in. Of course as you grow older you will have other experiences with people outside your family, like at school, on the internet, at work, but even then it takes a long time to fully accept the abuse by hands of the people who are supposed to love you and teach you how to navigate the world. So yeah those interviewers really had no business asking why didn't he run away instead of asking how his mother could have ever done something so horrific.
Thats true.... and for most people they never get out of the mindset they were brought up in, thats why pedophiles statistically have been abused themselves as children

I really have to wonder if when Carlee stopped to get dinner maybe she got a coke and it was dosed with something that hit her while she was heading home. It really sounds, and from the highway video, it looks like there was no toddler. I just hope she is ok.
@@Butterbugsbakedgoodsthat doesn’t sound very likely. i don’t see why someone would drug a random persons drink in their order let alone drug someone who is about to leave. usually if someone is putting something in another’s drink it’s to do something to or with them after they’re under the influence. in my opinion, it’s more likely she had a psychotic break or schizophrenia is making itself known. it usually shows up during the late 20s to early 30s for women. again, just my opinion but that seems more likely than someone putting something in a drink that we don’t even know she ordered and just going about their night like normal. we need means, motive and opportunity. i don’t see the motive
So true! When I heard he had been found it brought so much hope to me thinking of all the missing kids/adults. Then to find out what this “thing”did. So heartbreaking.
I know! When I saw it i thought “wow this really shows the hope you keep for victims” and sure enough. So sad. Still holding on to hope for real missing people. This is a messed up situation as well.
How so? Was this boy not a victim? Can a child not be a victim of their parents? I’m confused. This boy was definitely just as much a victim as any missing child.
This boy WAS missing. WAS abducted. Women, mothers and parents can be predators. This boy was abducted by his own mother and hidden from society. He was trafficked by his own mother. He was used and abused by his own mother.
@@kellybraun5013exactly!!! Wtf? It sounds like this guy was working under diminished capacity in multiple senses. He had purported intellectual deficits and was possibly being drugged. How is years of abuse by his mother not in a way, grooming? Why would it matter if it’s a parent. She abused him and used his diminished capacity to brain wash him and if that didn’t work she drugged him, allegedly. And if the sexual abuse allegations were true she was likely doing that before he turned 18 as well. Ofc that last one course that is pure speculation on my part. I’m so confused as to how this is not a case of kidnapping and human trafficking. Besides the fact that it was by a family member, how is this different from cases like Elizabeth Smart? Abducted but lived with the man for years and would even go out in public with him. There’s obviously a lot we don’t know about the case, but I understand why Mr. X was so worked up. When I read what his mother did to him, during that time he was missing, it reminded me of the saying that there are things worse than death in the world. That poor kid. Edit: THEY AREN'T PROSECUTING THE MOTHER???
@@morticiaaddamz1 You have too much faith in the human condition to think that. I wish I had your mindset. I am at that point where I take a commenter at their words if they reply and say they are high.
I think their attitude toward Rudy can best be summed up with one of those detective's words, "Well...Rudy is a 25-year-old man; he could do whatever he wants." They don't think he is a victim because he is a man who chose to go back to his abusive mother. Never mind, he has been drugged up by her, never mind he has intellectual disabilities. Insanity.
^^^THIS^^^ While doing your research for your next vid on Rudy, please look into this. What I read was that Rudy was the beneficiary of his brother's life insurance, but that after he was "missing" for 4 years, it then legally went to the Mother. THAT could be a HUGE reason why she kept him "missing". I have no doubt that Rudy didn't even know about the insurance money.
I wonder, if Rudy's brother himself EVEN KNEW HE HAD A LIFE INSURANCE before he died tbh. Especially given the fact how calculating that mom is and how nefarious the deaths seem to happen in this family. Maybe it's a different thing in the US, but usually young people don't have a life insurance where I live - except maybe if they've too much money, or someone very actively talked them into making one, like my younger sister did to me, with herself being the beneficiary of it - (no worries I survived it), mine just ended and I got the sum, but I myself certainly NEVER would've had the idea to make a life insurance and the way these life insurance companies work is a huge joke; my sister literally bothered and begged all her relatives and neighbours to make one, but got scammed herself and never earned a dime.
@@Anita-kit’s better to get a life insurance at a younger age in the united states because you end up having to pay less than if you took one out when you’re older because you’re more susceptible to illness and dying
@@deceased988 But it sounds like the brother was in his early 20s at the oldest, correct me if I'm wrong. Most early 20s don't have life insurance policies. People in their 30s-ish or with kids have life insurance policies.
I was physically, sexually, and mentally abused by my biological mom for the first 18 years of my life. I ran away 2 weeks after high school graduation. I have not talked to her since. As their child, you love and trust your parents above everything else, even if it confuses you, even though they have hurt you so much and continue to hurt you. You might not even understand yet that they are hurting you. It’s hard to believe your parent, someone who should love you, is hurting you. You believe them when they say they are doing something in your best interest. They are your parent but they are also your abuser and your jailer. The last 6 months were especially bad. Her husband kicked us out. 3 people, mom, brother, and I, shared a one room tiny apartment. And I mean living room and a bathroom and that’s it. My stepdad was no longer a buffer between her and what she would do to us. Everyday felt like I was in prison. I can’t imagine what Rudy went through, but it’s very easy for me to see how it happened, and how he was controlled. He’s a victim, he isn’t to blame at all. As a child abuse survivor too, I can tell he is incredibly strong, and I truly hope he heals and goes on to live a wonderful and full life.
sending love and hope your way. am currently feeling immense guilt over cutting contact with my mother in December and been struggling- but my mental health is worth it. Healing is worth it. in this together!
I absolutely believe Quanelle, and I believe their was sexual abuse. Rudy said in the interview that there was no abuse or nothing that could be proved with a rape kit. So I agree probably no penetration occurred but I’m pretty sure other things did occur. There are all sorts of abuse that doesn’t involve penetration. I have no idea how this woman has not been arrested.
his answer just shows that he is not aware that touching or having someone expose themselves is sexual abuse. That is easy to understand. I know grown women that were not aware that they could say no to their husbands, and that they did not know that them having sex forced on them is ra*e. It is easy to understand why a 15 year old (or 25) would not understand what sexual abuse or assault is defined as. Plus I’m sure he is reluctant to discuss this - it must feel very vulnerable and unsure of who he can trust.
This case will stick w me for life. I prayed for Rudy to be ridden from his mother and to have peace and to move on and have a great life. This is by far one of the most twisted cases I’ve encountered.
How did people not immediately catch on that Rudy and Dolph were the same person? It's literally the same name. You would think his mom would have made him go by something completely different, but if Dolph is the name he gave to the police, they should have realized immediately that it was the same kid. This whole situation was handled terribly. Thanks for the great coverage, as always! Looking forward to your analysis of Rudy's interview.
Yes! I was looking for this comment. The fact that his new name was just a different shorter part of his full name seems the equivalent of the Incredibles putting on their black mask and thereby “becoming unrecognizable.” Except for this is real, not a kids movie. How in the HECK did law enforcement not catch that??? They just really gave 0 cares…
to be fair, he was rudolph the fourth so the probability that someone else in that family would've named another kid rudolph is fairly high. if a neighbor or law enforcement asked about that it could easily be explained away by family tradition
I don’t care that she used an old picture or that it was a common name in the family. Law enforcement went there MULTIPLE times. Even if they used a name that was actually different, police failed. You don’t go to a house from where a young man has been missing for 8 years after MULTIPLE reports from family saying he’s in the house and say, “well his name isn’t Rudy so I guess it’s not him.” That’s negligence.
What a wild story and what a shame that Rudy was failed by so many. If his mother does NOT get arrested, the whole Houston police department needs to be investigated. I can not wait to hear his interview and your take on it. I always love your passion on these cases and I feel the same emotions you do!
You would think Rudy’s mother has something on one or more of those “law enforcement” officers and that’s why they disregarding her offenses… they’re absolutely disgusting!
No, our HPD is just stupid, selfish and corrupt with their own prerogative to give two sh*ts about citizens. Protect and serve my ass. In all my 25 years i’ve ran into maybe 3 good cops out of the dozen i’ve met
I think they don't want questions started being asked about the entire investigation, from the original missing child report, on. Possibly from his father's bad actions. They're protecting themselves. Houston pd is so corrupt. I've lived here my entire life. No one wants to deal with Houston or Harris County PD.
Adult protective services should have been contacted to assess Rudy’s mental/developmental state before he was allowed to return home with his mother. I think he should be identified as a vulnerable adult
Quinelle's interview made me tear up. He is so deeply shocked and upset by what Rudy had told him. That's a good man. It's so sick that Rudy had to "play daddy". Absolutely sick. What an evil woman. Poor Rudy. I hope he'll be able to heal from this ❤
He’s a damn good man!! You can tell he is a father… he just has that fatherly charisma about him. The amount of compassion he has for this young man is a beautiful sight to see. More investigators, detectives, and law enforcement should take notes from him. I pray his voice and concerns spread even more until something finally gets done! This case absolutely insane and you’d think it would be completely obvious to HPD… it makes zero sense as to why this woman is able to walk around freely in society and her son is still under her control. If this were a situation with a father and a daughter… there would 100% be charges right now and the father would be enemy number 1!!
Rudy has already spoken and said that's not what he said. He was forced to play the "husband" role in that he was required to work, cook and clean. He made it clear he never said his mother forced him to have sex.
I hope that he had the victim’s permission to publicly speak to the whole world about these very personal and devastating details. He says that he it’s not for him to share but really he has gone far enough already with it! I get why he’s doing it, to call out the mother/abuser but I think he went a bit too far and could have been a lot more diplomatic and discreet whilst still making his point
That dude is a straight up clown. Do some research on him. He’s FAR from a good man. He’s an opportunist and con-artist that portrays himself as an “activist”. He’s done a lot of shady stuff.
I was SA'ed by two family members when I was a child. I wouldn't be okay with a so called advocate telling the details that I told them in private publicly like X did. That made me so uncomfortable to see Rudy's privacy violated like that. If Rudy wants the public to know if he was SA'ed by his mother Rudy can talk about it when/if he's ready.
I also thought that, but the ‘advocate’ will of course gain views and has scored interviews and publicity through shattering that poor guy’s confidence.
@@karinpawluk4376 he’s exploiting Rudy just in a different way. That's like having a daughter named Christina and instead of calling her Chris, you start calling her Tina and expect people to accept it's a different person.
Quinall X blamed a 10 year old gang rape victim of not doing enough to prevent the rape. Not sweet at all. I don’t doubt Rudy was abused by his mother but Quinall X is a POS and I have found no record he he ever apologized to that 10 year girl.
I don’t doubt Mr. X’s sincerity. But I do wonder if Rudy was honest about the claims he made in front of this gentleman. I’m leaning towards the possibility that Rudy’s mother is a poor parent but Rudy is more afraid of having to get a real job than anything else
@@DonnaLena1 He probably had to learn to read people's emotions and manipulate them (aka say what he thinks the other will hear), so he could survive his mother. He really needs therapy to unravel all those 25 years of chaos and horror. Mr. X rubs me a bit, his statements really could be detrimental to the investigation. He can still talk about the missteps of the police, like, waiting eight days until they interviewed Rudi and so on. The well known facts. I hope he waits the next time a bit longer until he tells "his truth". Because he is not helping Rudi with all that press conference talk. He still can go later to the media, when Police still is dropping the ball. The police did themselves no favour with their own press conference. I understand they have to be vague. They sounded unprepared, as if they would never expect those questions. I don't get the second part of your statement?? Like, do you think he is just a lazy sod, hidding at home, or what??? Kid was groomed by his mother and held on short leash, made addicted to substances, never had a chance to become autonomous and is also probably special needs. There is no "... but Rudy...". He is a victim, he never learnt anything healthy or valuable for living a life and that is done by his mother. God knows why she is the way she is, but she seems ok with it. Rudi has just now, the first time, a chance to get better, maybe he will take it.
I was in an abusive relationship… I had to disagree with you on people, asking the “why didn’t you leave“ question. People asked me all the time. But they did not understand that the prison that I was held in was in my own mind and one that he had created. But this case is a perfect example of why people do not leave in abusive situation. They’re far more scared of their abuser than anyone else.
I hope you go over Kyron Horman’s case one day. You are so thorough and he deserves someone as amazing as you to tell his story. 13 years with zero answers is way too long 😢
Stephanie and Derek have covered Kyron's case over on Crime Weekly. It goes without saying that they did an outstanding job. You've most likely watched it by now though:)
I believe Rudy told them both that he was sexually abused however he probably didn’t describe it as sexual abuse. I believe he told them that his mother would be with him in the bed kissing him. I think HPD took the stance of he’s an adult who slept with his mother. Edited: you explained it perfectly at the end of your video!
Shame on you HPD ! Keep protecting the guilty, jeopardizing the innocent, because you don't want to look like a fool, being taken for a ride by this pathetic nobody of a woman
By the way, 18 is not a magic age that automatically turns everyone into a mature all knowing adult, responsible for actions, consent etc,no matter what the circumstances
@@LisaBowersyesss! I keep checking online for updates. Her boyfriend posted on FB that she went through 48 hours of hell fighting for her life or something like that, but law enforcement isn’t saying anything. One media source mentioned a press conference coming soon, but I haven’t seen anything yet.
Who can blame them after all the George Floyd nonsense and talk about defunding them? What good dude is going to want to be a cop? Nobody wants to not be respected and a appreciated? Exactly - so now we only have the "leftovers" and the overworked/underpaid.
This poor poor boy! Sounds like some weird gypsy Rose situation. Also I hope the man who heard the boy’s confession and was so deeply touched by it, that he takes care of his own mental health, must be so hard to hear such horrible things. Prayers for this boy! The mother must be held accountable!!
Finding out about his dad's history as a corrupt cop I'm wondering if they don't want to press this because it would open an investigation into the police department.
My heart just brakes listening to Mr X speak about what Rudy said. I can’t even fathom. I felt my blood boil hearing the one reporter asked what she did
Quinell (my apologies if I spelled his name incorrect; I couldn't find the proper spelling) is such a great man for digging into this and listening to Rudy's story and doing what he can to help him. I was very moved by the way he spoke of what Rudy went through. He spoke with such concern and care! Just wanted to give him credit for being a fantastic human!
As someone who lives in the greater Houston area I want to add a bit of context. While I absolutely agree that the chief was/is douchey, his reluctance to continue answering questions associated with Quanell X is understandable. Mr. X has a long history of inserting himself into cases and controversies, purportedly out of concern and activism, but in most instances it is more for clout and camera time. In my own small community we had a horrific case that gained broad national attention. Mr. X inserted himself in defense of the perpetrators, raised money for their defense while also publicly and vocally placing the blame for their actions on the ELEVEN YEAR OLD VICTIM OF A GROUP SEXUAL ASSAULT. I will say, in Rudy's case, I tend to agree with Quanell X but anything he says needs to be consumed with a very large grain of salt and with full knowledge that Quanell X's #1 focus is getting Quanell X in front of cameras.
That's something I was worried about. He does seem passionate and I tend to want to believe him, but it was also like... "We need actual evidence." Of course, the police mentioning sexual assault suddenly tends to lend to the idea that there was a sexual assault. And you can't rely on Rudy speaking publicly when he's been severely abused and manipulated his whole life. How many victims make stories and excuses for their abusers?
Quanell X has done a lot to raise voices, but yes his favorite and all time most important voice to him is his own. That said, he is 100% right in this case! Our justice system in this town is so broken. The county isnt any better here. My heart is so broken for Rudy. Also, Grizzly is the real VIP reporter in this town. She covers the real sh!t
That caseworker is Passionately ADVOCATING for Rudy,he is one of the few that is passionate about what he does and wants to help people and law enforcement is trying to squash the truth and push the caseworkers concerns to the side. There are CLEAR signs of mistreatment, maltreatment, and abuse!
I am completely baffled by this case. I just can't understand how a mother can act like this. Thank you once again for your amazing coverage of this case. I am so glad you are helping to strengthen Rudy's voice.
Wow I’ve never been this early on a video. I just wanted to tell Stephanie I love her. She is such a great storyteller, and she doesn’t make the cases about her, she’s so respectful and she advocates for victims and truly cares about her subjects ❤️

I feel so sad for Rudy... I think this whole experience probably reinforced what his mom had been telling him about police... They aren't here to help him. I pray he's safe
I just have to say that as a victim Survivor of horrible sexual abuse of my older brother even at the age of 15 I was so messed up in my head with all the abuse I was enduring that I thought that when me and my brother became grown ups but I was going to be his wife I kind of knew that it didn't seem right with brothers and sisters being husband and wife but at the same time I couldn't understand or comprehend how that works out but when he got married at 18 years old I was devastated and I didn't really understand why and I was so angry that this girl was stealing my brother from me and after I became a grown up and was on my own and also had my own children I realized how bad everything was when I was younger and I was so horribly embarrassed to tell details about what happened out of fear of how people would look at me or judge me and I was just so grossed out about what happened to me as a child starting at the age of 4 until I was 13

Why has she not, at the very least, been charged with filing a false missing child report? I can't fathom why the police let her take hime home. That is sick. The police should be charged with enabling abuse
Yes! And fraudulent go fund me taking money from people, wasting resources looking for a missing person who was home. She needs to be held accountable for everything!
I can’t believe this woman! People wonder how a man/adult could have stayed for as long as he did, but they don’t understand the mind control and affect she has had on him. He is a young man now, but he was a child then! And, not just any “normal” child, he has been traumatized! First, not only did he lose his brother, but watched him die because they arrived on scene before emergency services. Then, his father commits “S”, because of the crimes he had been a part of. So the young man is dealing with loss, pain and probably shame and quilt from the public. So he couldn’t even grieve the natural way, especially living with this cruel egg donor. Then we hear all this other disturbing, disgusting trauma he endured over all these years. If all is true, he needs to be surrounded with so much love and needs so much proper therapy and I hope he receives it all! Lord, I pray for him and hope she pays for her crimes and is put way. Lord, be with this young man. Best wishes. ❤
I gree the funny thing is if he was a woman and there were comments where people asking about a female adult not leaving they would be slammed and canceled basically the double standard in this world is insane
I'm a resident of Houston & was hoping you were going to cover this case! I saw the initial nees report that he was gound but nothing else until listening to this. Absolutely abhorrent & a miscarriage of justice should this woman not be held accountable for what she did to her son.
Thank you for posting this! I think we should all send emails to or call the DA to ask for charges to be brought against Janie. Public pressure absolutely does work.
That's what is killing me about this story. I have many 1st cousins and none of us have the same name and Rudolph is not the most common name. so two cousins having the same name is wonky to me. But I am a name geek so that probably bothers me more than most.
@@amandabeard6573not to mention the fact the Rudy was called Rudolph the IV, when the father already had a son by his wife named Rudolph the IV - Jeanie had this boy through an affair with a married man….who had already named his first born son Rudoloh IV. Poor Rudy - stuck in the middle, seemingly with no functioning adult role model make or female!!
The interview with Mr. X is so heartbreaking. He seems like such a good man, who is truly disturbed by this and wants to help. I hope he is okay after this. 💔
I loved Mr X too. Of course Stephanie also did but she cracked me up saying she was literally clapping at some points. Also when he gets choked up sometimes while speaking about Rudy. But then we get some righteous anger. Love me some righteous anger. What a man. I'll join in that hug, @EmilyCaissie. He's a big guy and I'm a smallish women, it might take a few of us anyway. 😂 But only if it's okay with lady in the cowboy hat if that's his Lady. 😀 Loved her too!
Quanelle seems like a good guy to have in your corner. I hope he keeps up the pressure and forces the PD to tell the truth and do the right thing. There's no way if they were doing their job that this woman's con could have gone on for so long. I hope Rudy gets the counseling and therapy he's going to need to get his life back on track.
He's definitely not. He attaches himself to high profile cases for attention. He's a known scammer. Not alleged. KNOWN. He's been in legal trouble over almost 200k he scammed from people he's supposedly helping. Not to mention he victim blamed a 12 yr old, telling her and the press she had the power to prevent her rape. Police will absolutely not take what he says seriously because it's known he lies.
Honestly this poor guy (i still want to say kid 😢) will need so much therapy and help for the next few years and i really bloody hope he gets it! Nicely done Stephanie, you always make your videos clear, and are so kind about the victims!

When I saw Mr. X speaking to the press I questioned why he was divulging the information. Now I realize it was to ensure it came to light because HPD would try to sweep this under the rug.

i found this case so interesting when it was in the news. it was confusing but also a story that i was hooked on so i’m so happy someone is finally talking about it
If this was a father/daughter case instead of a mother/son it would be a completely different story. What a shame.
I actually 100 percent agree! Really good comment
I was saying this to myself throughout this whole video. The double standards against male victims is sickening.
Absolutely 💯 agree with you, it's sad but true
Remember when people criticized Gypsy Rose Blanchard for her actions, saying "Why not just run away and go to the cops?" After seeing this case, I understand why Gypsy thought it was better to take the law into her own hands.
I am and always have been on Gypsy Rose’s side with what she did, and I have 0 regrets about that.
I understand what happened to Rudy. It's like when a baby elephant is chained to a chair and it grows up not even considering that they can break the chain. Trauma is so convenient for controlling opportunists.
That's an amazing way of putting it. My boyfriend always asks why I didn't do X,Y,Z to stop the abuse from family members as I was growing up, and this explains it perfectly.
@@KRL1999aybe instead of your bf asking you (the victim) what YOU did or didn’t do, maybe he should be asking WHY your FAMILY did x,y,z to their child. That’s just me though.
@esf353 well put
That’s a great way of saying it
Why do people (especially police) still not believe that a man or boy can be physically and sexually abused by a woman? If this was a female where this had started when the female was a girl, the man that did that would be locked up and the woman would be looked after. Why is a boy who was manipulated by his mother (let’s say groomed) not held in the same esteem? EF THESE DOUBLE STANDARDS!
Bc they think women are weak & need protecting. They don’t actually care about women more, they just think we’re less capable.
Completely agree
That’s what it’s like being a male right now. Go take a look at comments on Stephanie’s recent “familicide video.” It was all “men abuse women. Women, if you’re being abused by a man, do something about it.”
The whole tone of that video was reflected in the comments; no one acknowledges/cares that women are also abusers.

Ten to one the brainwashing started when he was a kid, and if you're raised in a situation like this, just turning 18 doesn't mean all the chains fall off, so it's no wonder he didn't "just leave" when he became an adult. He probably doesn't think like an adult right now.
Agree!
He probably doesn't know he has rights. He may not even know he's an adult. She's had all these years to work on him.
(See Betrayal Trauma Theory by Dr Jennifer Freyd, University of Oregon)
Also, you want to study a REALLY MESSED UP case? Look into Jennifer Freyd’s childhood. Holy Shitballs Batman.
If every victim had a voice speaking for them like Mr. X does for Rudy, then I think there would be a lot more solved cases.
How do you not know your son's birthday. I may not remember his exact age but I remember his birthday.
it boils my blood when reporters ask why adult male victims didn’t “just leave.” this is why male victims don’t speak on their traumas and abuse. do better people.

It makes me mad too! but they definitely do that with females too so I’m not sure why you’re only pointing out males LOL
it's sickening and victim-blaming! however, it happens to all victims of abuse. women are blamed for not leaving too!

💯💯💯💯
I feel like the police had to find a roundabout way to confirm without outright saying "yes".
Idk kinda seems like acting to me
This is so upsetting.

And I guarantee that if this was a father and a daughter, there'd be zero "she's an adult and she wanted to go back with him soooo 🤷🏻♂"
yeah the HPD is just confirming this

It's sad when you hear cop,ex-cop, Pastor, religious leader you immediately know they are doggy

I think their attitude toward Rudy can best be summed up with one of those detective's words, "Well...Rudy is a 25-year-old man; he could do whatever he wants." They don't think he is a victim because he is a man who chose to go back to his abusive mother. Never mind, he has been drugged up by her, never mind he has intellectual disabilities. Insanity.
The police chief obviously has HIS OWN definition of the word ‘integrity’
Be great to find out what Rudy’s mother has on him to have him working so hard to bury this case.
Maybe he doesn't want people looking too close at his integrity. Kinda strange I'd say.
She wanted the 1st sons life insurance money & took it from Rudy 4 yrs after officially "missing". That's foul. She's a foul af individual.

I have no idea how this woman has not been arrested.
exactly...like just touching someone in certain way can be sexual abuse...and that won't show on a kit.
@@ninavale.That is his story to tell. You don't decide someone's abuse history. It is his voice and in his situation anything might be true or not
his answer just shows that he is not aware that touching or having someone expose themselves is sexual abuse.
I mean he could still have been forced to penetrated his mother (nearly threw up typing that). That wouldn’t come up in a rape kit..
No complaint witness. He says it didn’t happen.

There are a lot of people in my family with the same name and ik other families do too so it wouldn't raise any alarms to me
His mother gave police a several year younger photo of Rudy not the 17 year old Rudy. Boys change so much between 14 to 17.
That police department needs to be investigated. There is something not clean in the buttermilk.

I will say, in Rudy's case, I tend to agree with Quanell X but anything he says needs to be consumed with a very large grain of salt and with full knowledge that Quanell X's #1 focus is getting Quanell X in front of cameras.
would you mind sending me some resources on this? Thank you so much!
That's something I was worried about.
He does seem passionate and I tend to want to believe him, but it was also like... "We need actual evidence."
Of course, the police mentioning sexual assault suddenly tends to lend to the idea that there was a sexual assault.
And you can't rely on Rudy speaking publicly when he's been severely abused and manipulated his whole life. How many victims make stories and excuses for their abusers?
Unpopular opinion put I don’t fully trust him from watching other videos.
@@RM-mu3tlme neither.
Me too, she is so great
what's with the nazi dogwhistle in your name?
for people not in the know 1488 means "We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children. Heil Hitler". If you're not a nazi, you should change your screenname. If you are a nazi, you should be ashamed...especially if your family is Jewish
I feel so sad for Rudy... I think this whole experience probably reinforced what his mom had been telling him about police... They aren't here to help him. I pray he's safe
Ayeee! My girl Grizzy! So glad she is getting the attention she deserves for her work! ❤
I just have to say that as a victim Survivor of horrible sexual abuse of my older brother even at the age of 15 I was so messed up in my head with all the abuse I was enduring that I thought that when me and my brother became grown ups but I was going to be his wife I kind of knew that it didn't seem right with brothers and sisters being husband and wife but at the same time I couldn't understand or comprehend how that works out but when he got married at 18 years old I was devastated and I didn't really understand why and I was so angry that this girl was stealing my brother from me and after I became a grown up and was on my own and also had my own children I realized how bad everything was when I was younger and I was so horribly embarrassed to tell details about what happened out of fear of how people would look at me or judge me and I was just so grossed out about what happened to me as a child starting at the age of 4 until I was 13
I'm so sorry this happened to you, love. Your honesty and reflection is so powerful.
I’m so sorry you were abused in that way…you were absolutely a victim of your brother! Don’t be ashamed, you were groomed by him 🙏
I am 48 years old now and I'm finally seeing a trauma therapist and to getting help this has affected my entire adult life and there was much more horrible horrible abuse going on Beyond just the sexual abuse from my brother I have recently spoke out for the first time my story if you are interested in watching it it was posted on RUclips the channel name is
NDE TV with Pegi Robinson the title is under my name Tammy Cheney and it was a month ago. Thank you I do feel freedom for the first time tell my story.

Yes ask them why they aren't doing their job especially the prosecutor.
Just realized his full name is probably “Rudolph” so Dolph was just another version of his actual name
That must really suck that his mom did this - i’m sure his fathers family and the wife’s family doesn’t think this is a proper thing to do. Poor Rudy - stuck in the middle, seemingly with no functioning adult role model make or female!!
The interview with Mr. X is so heartbreaking. He seems like such a good man, who is truly disturbed by this and wants to help. I hope he is okay after this. 💔
Makes me want to give him a hug he’s staying so strong for Rudy but you know he was feeling heartbroken and like you said completely disturbed
I was feeling the same thing. He’s a godsend and I hope he’s getting what he needs to be ok and do the good work he’s doing ❤
Question: Jamie still claimed people met her nephew, even when Rudy was found. Did she ever mentioned where "Dolf" went to?
I don't believe so.. or like, who was Dolph's mother?
@@StephanieHarlowe Yeah, like where is Dulph - did he mysteriously go missing too? A family reunion would be in order imo. Rudy and Dulph standing side by side in a photo. The least Finner/HPD could do is get Adult Protective Services involved. Both agencies need to do their jobs which taxpayers are required to pay for.
You would think that the family members who have come forward would have confirmed or denied the existence of " nephew Dolph" by now.
This is so triggering to me. As a sexual abuse victim my heart is screaming out for him. Will someone please hold his abuser accountable? If he was seventeen when this happened he was a minor! It doesn’t make any sense to me!😢
@amireedy9336 I don't understand why the mother hasn't been arrested yet. I'm so sorry for what you went through. No one should be able to touch you without your consent. I hope your abuser is being held responsible.😢😢😢
I think if this was a father doing this to his daughter there would be much more action on behalf of the police
Not if the father was a policeman, for instance.
What i love about how you cover stories Stephanie is that you dont just tell the surface stuff and you really go and try to find all the pieces of the puzzle. This story is bananas.
Hope you will cover the LISK and that Crystal woman case also.
thank you so much!
Great video! That mother is sick, and Rudy needs those with the authority to protect him from her to do their jobs!
Off topic, but my 12 week old peacefully falls asleep whenever im listening to your videos.
Your voice is very soothing, without sudden changes that woupd scare him awake, yet still not at all monotone!
He is a fan 😊.
I appreciate that so much! Give him cuddles for me!
I saw the news when Rudy was found. I knew there was a story but didn't hear anything else. Thanks Stephanie for digging up the details. This is horrific. Like bad fiction. Rudy needs our support and help. I pray he gets healed and justice prevails. Incredible. Stephanie is on her game
thank you so much!
@@StephanieHarlowe thanking you again. I hope you have a marvelous week and can keep that beautiful smile going despite the tragedies you research for us. You are tenacious and we love you.

I appreciate that so much!
Absolutely! the way Steph speaks it is so perfect! i feel like we are friends in my head!!
AMEN!
I am curious if you did a video on the deep dive of his interview? Thank you for all you do!
Here in Houston there’s so much information about this case, that I’m so happy you covered this case and sorted it out for us! You’re the best!
Oh and women like that santana creature don’t deserve to be mothers.
I didn’t even look into the case by myself because I was sure you’d cover it, and at this point? I trust you blindfolded

I love the way the mr. x fellow speaks
god i hate seeing the news now, everything just doesn’t make sense, everyone latches on to special parts of the story but not the whole thing. i’m so excited to learn more from a well written, organized source like yourself!! love you Stephanie
I imagine Brenda Paradise as some oldschool reporter like "Brenda Paradise reporting. Im going to blow this case wide open" 😂

I'm getting Carmen San Diego vibes 😂
@@Secretlystruggles I wonder if anyone ever figured out where in the world she is 😉🤣
When I saw Mr. X speaking to the press I questioned why he was divulging the information. Now I realize it was to ensure it came to light because HPD would try to sweep this under the rug.
I've been reading about this for weeks. I'm really hoping Stephanie can make this make sense because so far it does not.
Poor Rudy and the horror he has gone through. No person should ever ever go through what he has. So heartbreaking that a mother is so sick and twisted to do what she did to her son. Just infuriates me to my core. I hope he can get the help and love he so desperately deserves.
Mr. X is awesome! I’m like you I could listen to him for hours.
Thanks for doing this story!! Awesome job❤❤❤
He is the type of person we need in politics and the police force!

Mr. X, this boy needs your voice! No one else seems to care for him. I hope Mr. X can keep speaking up for him. If he has a mental delay he needs an advocate! Mr. X you are my new hero!
This case is so insane, glad you are covering it!!

Just about to watch this video but I have to say Stephanie you still have the absolute BEST intro and outro music EVER!! Love it and always sing along to it ❤️
Love the Channel too and appreciate all the work you put into telling us people stories ❤️
awww thank you so much! I appreciate it!
Lol right?! I love them too
Agreed. I love it so much

so cool.. I met Brenda Paradise in Wasilla Alaska 2018. I've seen her name on another missing persons' report in Alaska. Never thought I would hear her mentioned on your channel 😄
I'm a Patreon, so i already listened when it posted there, but this case is so crazy that when it popped up today on the regular channel i just had to watch again. This is insane! Thanks for making it make as much sense as possible, Stephanie!
There has to be something they can charge this “mother” with. I hope Rudy can have happy normal life someday
Thankyou Quinelle. This boy (and he is a boy) has been through do much - even before his momma hid him away. With what she put him through there is no way he could have consented with full compus mentis. Again thankyou Quinelle for standing up for and by this boy 💜
Was waiting for you to cover this story. I watched a lot of true crime RUclipsrs do this story already but nobody and I mean nobody gives us the coverage and does the deep dive that you do!
i found this case so interesting when it was in the news. it was confusing but also a story that i was hooked on so i’m so happy someone is finally talking about it
it is CONFUSING!
