What a great all around video. Looks like a nice trip to the cabin and certainly starts the anticipation of deer season. The cabin is looking awesome inside and out. Glad you got to enjoy some good libations and cigars, really enjoy John Wayne movies, especially The Searchers, looks like the clip you posted was from A River Runs Through It. Looking forward to the next video. Regards Mark
Thanks Mark, good time, from the start at the wedding reception, to the last day. Always feels good to get something accomplished and have time for some good food. Not a real martini drinker, but that one was just the right thing to have after the short rib dinner. Went great with the cigar. You are right on the movie, was an easy one, but right for the cabin. The solo trips have always been my favorite. Something about being alone at a cabin in the woods. Enjoyed a nice cup of coffee during this video. Hope your doing well!
Thanks Larry, I do like it by myself there also, the quiet, and really being able to do what you want when you want it. All good here, NC is coming up in about a month, have to get in and dial in the new .270. Take care!
Ansolutely love the cabin videos! The wife and I recently purchased a house in the Great Smoky Mountains and then bought 17 acres behind it looking to move there (I retired as a FF/Paramedic) but life threw us a little curve ball. We moved in with my 94 year old dad who is battling dementia, so had to put our plans on hold. You have no idea how much your videos inspire me! Here is a little gift. Buy yourself a Padron 1964 Anniversary Series cigar to smoke on your deck! You won’t regret it!
Thank you very much for your kindness, very much appreciated! Hope goes ok with your Dad, happened to my Grandmother a long time ago. Was sad that she didn't know who I was. Will pick up the Padron 1964 Anniversary Series and enjoy it. Good luck with the house and property, it will be your sanctuary! Take care and thanks again.
Just know you’re making a difference in a lot of people. It’s a small gift for a huge heart! Enjoy your smoke! Watching your videos is like sitting around the fire with a friend… keep doing what you do. I so appreciate it. You really “get it” in life and in this crazy world it’s refreshing!
Great video sir. Congrats on 40 years. I just reached 10 with my wife this year. George would be happy that you’ve carried on with new pets. Tough to lose them thats for sure but their spirit lives on and there are a lot of great animals out there to build relationships with. I am glad you guys are doing that with some new cats who are no doubt loving living their best lives because of you and Mrs Rook. Thanks for an enjoyable 1:19:49.
Thanks Steve! My wife just mentioned that the other day that because of George we gave three others a great home. They are spoiled that is for sure! Thanks again, and congrats on the ten, be careful they go faster and faster.
Great video! So glad you take us along! Happy 40th Anniversary to you and your lovely wife! Loved the pics from when you were younger. Happy 50th Birthday to Mike and Steve!
Glad you enjoyed it, and thank you for the kind words. Life really is a journey. It's even hard for me to think of those two over 50, always seems like they are acting up! Take care!
Great video, sitting at my cabin in Maine, having a beverage after also doing some pre winter chores. Thanks for sharing and the entertainment. Bummed we're not headed to NC this year and looking forward to seeing your trip later this fall.
Great to see this latest video. A lot of subjects were covered and covered well. Having great friends and a great hunting/cabin tradition is truly a Blessing. Thanks for all you do Tom to make time to share your adventures with us. PS: I watched Sintax77's latest video last night. He never fails to provide interesting hikes and narration. Ron
Thank you very much for the kind works about @sintax77 and myself! Was a really good trip that I enjoyed and glad you came along for the ride. The licking branch has been doing well, not great, but well. Saw 3 bucks that I haven't seen all summer on the game cams.
Rook - your trips to the cabin are always interesting. There’s usually unanticipated chores and just general ownership maintenance. Thanks for taking us along. And good luck in the upcoming season.
Good to see you Tom. Looking forward to seeing this fall’s hunting video. Cabin progress is coming along great! The landing looks fantastic! Thanks for sharing your time with us at the cabin! See you guys soon!!
Thanks, hoping for something great to happen this year. We are out a few years from the logging, so things should be growing well, and the deer settled down. Take care !
Another great vidMr. Rook. Heading to deer camp this weekend(Pittsfield PA.)for opening day of archery. Wish you and the boys good luck this upcoming season!!
Yep, was an easy one. I hadn't seen it for some reason, makes me want to try fly fishing. I don't want to be the guy that shows up with worms in a coffee can! Thanks and take care!
This being the 15th of September, congratulations on your and the misses 40 years of ❤️ and marriage. The date, mom and dad's,62 years of marriage ,congratulations again.
Hi Tom, thank you for taking us along on another great trip to the cabin. Keep us posted on the deer licks. Happy 50th Birthday to both Mike and Steve. Take care.
Another excellent cabin video! The main clover field looks great! I remember how dead and dry it used to look. Hope Camp Cook makes it for deer camp! Happy 50th to both guys! Congratulations on 40 years. I'm 24 years with mine. Looking forward to your next video!
Great to see your cabin trip. I see you are working on your list. I am at my cabin doing the same thing. We have a muzzleloader deer camp the 19th of October in NW Arkansas. We have 12 guys (if they all show up). Congratulations on your Anniversary! Happy Birthday to the new members of the “50” club.
Nice content Tom. I chuckled when you showed the pictures of you and Mrs. Rook. Brings back memories. It's interesting that you mentioned acorns. The oaks on my property started dropping them too. One oak in particular is very prolific. The deer have taken notice. I've seen them gobbling them up. Looking forward to our NC trip. My freezer is almost empty.
That was at a cousins wedding in State College I think the fall before we got married. I am hoping that is the start of the acorns up there, that is what draws them up on the mountain. NC will be here before you know it!
Thanks for the great segment Tom! Always look forward to your videos, especially from the cabin. Good luck with the hunting trip to NC next month. You’ll be back to the cabin with the boys for the PA season in no time. Take care and stay safe!
Thanks, had a good time up there, got a few things done, was hoping for a few more. Rather have it done right then looking bad. Yep we will be there before we know it!
Great video. Everything is looking great around the cabin. Hope to see the hard work pay off for you and the guys this year. Good luck to you and your brother on the deer hunt. Looking forward to the video. Happy anniversary and keep up the good work. Thanks again.
Great vid as usual Rook! Licking stick worked well for me too, hope you continue to see buck and doe hitting it.I agree with you big time that your clover plot is better than expected, looks great ! Get some cletheodim to keep the weeds and grasses out of the clover
Thanks for the info on the Cletheodim. Quick question for you on the licking stick. Once you hang it, do you go back and do any maintenance on it? Rake the area again, apply some more starter fluid (if you know what I mean)? Thanks!
@@whiterook85 sure thing, i set it and forget it. I do not touch them go near them or anything after I’ve hung them. I was very skeptical that the one branch I hang is going to be hit when the other 3000 around aren’t. but sure enough last fall, I had buck after buck hitting it
@@whiterook85 no problem at all! our properties are very very very similar I have the same struggles you do of not being able to get equipment in and just recently logged as well. Also, I have Clover plots and winter rye. They about the same size as yours. I’m over in Clarion county2D
Hey Tom, loved seeing this one pop up a few days ago. Was able to take the time and enjoy it last night over a nice iced bourbon. Very nice cabin trip with some great projects done. I’m guessing the movie is a River Runs through it…good movie. Good idea not to do the TV project alone! Wait for some help when the guys show up. Clover is looking great…and wow..that view from your stand is really nice. That’s gonna pan out one of these years! Really hoping Mike knocks one down this Fall…hopefully that hanging branch will pull something by him….that said Mike’s has had some great opportunities down there…gotta make those shots count! Hopefully this is his year. Glad to see you taking some to enjoy the deck. The Archery season starts here a week from Monday….hoping for some early success….nice wide 7 point and a basket 6 that have been regulars. As always enjoyed the cooking…from breakfast to suppers. Thanks for brining us along!
Glad you enjoyed Tim, was a great time there. Perfect balance of fun and a few chores. Meals turned out great, one game hen is just right for one person. Finished them both off with no leftovers. Shawn and Mike agreed that it was best to wait to do the soundbar. We will get it done. Saw an 8pt down at the branch a few days ago. Funny have not seen those two all spring and summer long. Hopefully that will start moving up the mountain to check out the acorns. Take care and good luck in archery coming up!
Perfect timing, i got pork loin on the grill and baked beans bubbling away in the oven, and im enjoying some founders mirtal bloom+ simply limeaids!!!!!!! It doesnt get much better than this bro!
Hi love watching your videos they are awesome. Can't wait for bow season to start here next Saturday in Pennsylvania I hunt in 5c and for rifle and shotgun season I hunt up in Sullivan and Tioga and 3B for the rifle season
Thanks for taking us along on your trip to camp. It will be time for deer camp before we know it. I haven’t made it to our camp since turkey season due to work and family obligations.
You were talking about working for one company for a long period of time, I worked for the same company for 50 years, semi retired but still on the payroll doing part time consulting, now 55 years.
Nice work John, no pun intended. Very, very hard to make it that long these days. I would have 50 myself if I stuck around, but been enjoying retirement. Thanks and take care!
@@whiterook85I worked for a good company and enjoyed what I was doing. In matter of fact some of our operations are in DE, one at the end of the runway in Dover. The limited work I do now is all done from home on the laptop. As long as I get paid and only on rare occasions I’ll continue.
Nice long video . Acorns are dropping here as well. I nearly got bopped a couple times. Seems to be a good mast . The smoke bag looks interesting and the chicken looked awesome. Happy belated anniversary 🎉. Hoping Steve can make it for the hunt vid. I wish you guys a great hunt in SC. Looking forward to the revealing of your new rifle . Thank you for the wonderful video , stay safe and until next time RITP"s !!
Thanks Ian, had a good time up there, a few ups and down, but you will have that sometimes. Hopefully the acorns will drop heavy up there, we need them to pull the deer up to the top of the mountain. That gun reveal is that other video I was thinking about doing, depends on if I can film at the range. Take care and RITPs!!
“A River runs Thru it” been waiting for a camp video. Ever calm deer herd scent works well. I sometimes rub some on the bottom of my boots to cover my scent walking to the stand. The only problem I found with using scents, scrap droppers, etc. in the “big woods” is they attract bears.
@@whiterook85 You should be alright with evercalm on the boots, the bears were mostly destroying the magnum scrape drippers I put out. I have trail cam pics of a huge bear pulling down a small tree to get at the dripper. The evercalm also works well if you rub some on the underside of leaves on a licking branch. Lotta bucks stop by and start tearing up the leaves with their antlers.
Great video. Good luck in NC! I feel you about the gas prices driving to and from the cabin. It's even more upsetting with the tolls that keep going up and up. To and from the cabin for me is close to $50 in tolls alone. Probably $90 for both gas and tolls round trip.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. I was also at my camp last week and this past weekend as well. Work let's me get relatively close so I make a weekend of it when I can. - Movie is "A River Runs Through It". Can't wait to see how the season plays out for you.
Unfortunate coincidence that Steve McQueen’s son Chad just died a few days before you posted this. Enjoyed the video, as usual, Rook. Looking forward to the North Carolina hunt!
Great video Tom , everything looks good ! Just got back from our camp , had a work weekend. Looking forward to doing some bow hunting this year . Put a new stand up for my Dad , this will be his last year hunting , hanging up his gun .
Hope you had a good time even though it was a work weekend. Those new stands will pay off before you know it. Here's a tip of the hat to your Pop, I'm sure he has many great memories of being out in the field with you. Maybe he will just come and sit in the stand with you every once in a while. Take care!
Yes, that was the most unusual one I have seen. Would have made a great mount for the cabin. But what happens, in Bear season you see bucks, in Buck season you see does, in Boe season you see nothing!
I have only ever used a vine for a fake licking branch. Can’t wait to see if a regular old branch will work. I know you can buy a hemp rope and use that, but I’ve got plenty of vines that are free on my property.
We don't seem to have those big vines up this way. So far so good, not everyday, but they are coming in. Hopefully more will find it and start using it. Could have been about a foot lower. Next time!
Seems to be doing ok, I think that was a Beech, a lot of them here. So they should be use to it. Didn't want to one from down my way and it seem strange to them.
Good Stuff, Man that clover is looking Awesome. The whole property looks good. You look like you might have been part of the mafia back in the day, I can imagine you with some brass knuckles in your pocket and you sure did marry up. Happy anniversary to both of you. Also that was funny with that "Fuck this Duck". Enjoyed the video. thanks for sharing. Good Luck.
Thanks, good time, and things are looking great on the property. Just had five does bead down in the clover a couple nights back. Haha, yeah I sure did marry up!
Great video and thanks for posting. Won’t be too long and we will be watching your fall hunting videos. Keep up the good work on the cabin and Gob Bless you all.
We have one 210 watt panel that we connect to our solar generators up there. We have an Ecoflow 2000watt, and a smaller Anchor brand there. I normally take another with me for the Spring Trip, or Deer camp.
Great video rook! Glad you brought us along. I finished painting my doors today second coat and still burning off some scrap wood to make room for a small Pavillion for my side by side when I'm up there
Nice work! Looked good in the pics, has to be very rewarding to do all that for a spot you will be enjoying for decades to come. Great view also! Take care.
Bucks will come to that clover if there in the area.. just give it time... Keep the same stump or use a new one very close to it... Deer are creatures of habit, they don't like change that's why it takes time before you see results
Awesome video, I must ask, is the road your camp is on a coincidence? Also is everyone coming to the camp this year for deer camp? Hope everyone able to make it including cook if hes able.I will be muzzleloader whitetail hunting in a few weeks here in NS
Yes, just a coincidence. Will have to check on everyone, Mike will be there of course, Shawn should be heading this way soon. Cook, he should just come up, I'm pretty sure Eric will be there also. Good luck in Muzzleloader!
Hi, my name is STEVE Stotler and I am from Coshocton Ohio. Love watching your videos. As a veteran , I really appreciate everything you do for the veterans. I enjoy the content of your shows.. My father bought a cabin in Canada in 1953 and we had it until 2019 when we were forced to sell it due to unaccessibility due to COVID travel restrictions. My buddies and I went up for years and I really miss the camaraderie. I am 76 years old and still enjoy hunting deer here on the farm with my nephew.
Hello Steve, first thank you for your Service to the country. I think Sr. kind of drove that home to me on what he went through when he came back from Vietnam. Just try to make sure there are people out there that appreciate the sacrifices you made. Sorry to hear about the cabin, enjoy the time on the farm, hope you get a nice one this year. Take care!
Think that might be a chain, the food is average, as is the beer cave. But it does give you a few new choices when you're up there. Feels great to step in there during the summer too.
I only hope you watched the debate and research fact-checks. Love your videos although. I'm originally from Columbia county and now in New Castle county,de and miss the woods and hunting
Good video,as usual Keep up the good work. Just research the candidates by fact-checks. I'm from Columbia county and now in New Castle county de miss the woods
You only hit .17 of an acre on my property, can you head back and get the whole thing! I think I'm making about 7 bucks a year. Thanks Terry, take care!

Thank you John!
Love the violin music!
Picked that one out a few weeks ago, thought it would fit the video.,
You were talking about working for one company for a long period of time, I worked for the same company for 50 years, semi retired but still on the payroll doing part time consulting, now 55 years.
The ever calm works, especially for me on public land. I always put it on the sides of my boots its a great cover scent.
Will be using it this year for sure.
Awesome!
Thanks!
“A River runs Thru it” been waiting for a camp video. Ever calm deer herd scent works well. I sometimes rub some on the bottom of my boots to cover my scent walking to the stand. The only problem I found with using scents, scrap droppers, etc. in the “big woods” is they attract bears.
Yep, that was it. I may have to try the Calm on the boots. Seems like it works well. I don't need a bear trying to get up in the stand with me!!
Thanks for sharing Tom. I like the changes that you did inside the cabin. Just sent a little $ to help out for your fall trip. Hope all is well.
Thank you very much, I surely do appreciate it! It was needed for a while now. I'm sure the guys will like them when they head up. Thanks again!
Great video. Good luck in NC! I feel you about the gas prices driving to and from the cabin. It's even more upsetting with the tolls that keep going up and up. To and from the cabin for me is close to $50 in tolls alone. Probably $90 for both gas and tolls round trip.
So true! I didn't count the tolls in from the Turnpike, I can again show my age when you could travel a long way for not that much cash.
Great video. A river runs through it.
Thanks, and yes that was it. Kind of an easy one, but why not!
Just take a full log round and replace the stump with it. Saves time having the deer finding the mineral.
Thanks for the input, we have a few logs up in the landing area that we could use. Just wish the bucks would use it also.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. I was also at my camp last week and this past weekend as well. Work let's me get relatively close so I make a weekend of it when I can. - Movie is "A River Runs Through It". Can't wait to see how the season plays out for you.
Correct on the movie, enjoyed it. Hope you enjoyed your time at camp also. Hoping for something great this year.
Unfortunate coincidence that Steve McQueen’s son Chad just died a few days before you posted this.
Enjoyed the video, as usual, Rook. Looking forward to the North Carolina hunt!
Hadn't heard that one. Thank you, NC will be here before we know it.
I do mock scrapes every fall and have had luck with them!
Could be something to do from here on out. Tried one in DE last year without success, but will keep at it.
A river runs through it. Nice to see a new video from you. Im on year 24 with Verizon not sure if I'll make it to 36 though
Yep on the movie, knew it was a fairly easy one, but why not. Good luck with VZ, hang in there, hope you will leave on your terms. Take care!
Take care!
A River Runs through it
Yes that was it, kind of an easy one, but fitting for the cabin.
Great stuff whiterook! Go Birds
Appreciate it!
@@whiterook85 Horrendous clock management last nite
Happy Anniversary
Thank you very much John.
Video good 👍👍👍 Jim Ross 😮😮😮 Atlanta
Thanks!
A River Runs Through It...I seen a few got it...definitely a great movie
Yep, for some reason I hadn't seen it.
Wish I could post a pic here. My dad got a “strange” buck in NY years ago just like you were describing.
Yes, that was the most unusual one I have seen. Would have made a great mount for the cabin. But what happens, in Bear season you see bucks, in Buck season you see does, in Boe season you see nothing!
Time to crack a beer...😂
It's a requirement!
I have only ever used a vine for a fake licking branch. Can’t wait to see if a regular old branch will work. I know you can buy a hemp rope and use that, but I’ve got plenty of vines that are free on my property.
lol should have watch 2 more minutes cause u but up pics of it working great to know!! Thanks.
I would keep putting the minerals at the stump the deer are use to it being there if you move to a different one they will be skiddish then
Thanks for the input! Seems like a good idea to keep it where it is. May add another small cut log.
How many acres is your camp??
Very cool! I like how you just get away and chill and share your weekend!
Close to 40, but we are surrounded by more wooded lots. Thanks and take care!
@@whiterook85 Awesome! Take care, good luck and have a great season!
Thanks!
Thank you!
River runs through it
Yep, was a bit of an easy one, but I thought it was a good cabin movie.
I rubbed tje ever calm on my boots before I think it works for sure
First year trying it, looks to be something good from what I can see that the licking branch.
Here in western PA we’ve had no rain
Must be the same there as it has been at home, bone dry. Even with my lawn irrigation system it can't keep up.
Hey great to see another video rook. Looks like no progress on connecting the stove?
Thanks. No on the stove, seems like a simple thing a regulator could take care of. But haven't found the right combination of everything yet.

New spot, a little change is always good ! Might pull deer from different places..
Thanks for the input, always have does there, but no bucks.
nice to see ya on the mtn Tom 🦃
Was good to be there. Thanks!!
Having hunted south of Wellsboro my whole life, I LOVE your videos! HUGE FAN!!!!!
That is awesome! Hope you had great success over the years. Take care!
A river runs through it
Yes, was an easy one, but I have to throw a few layups in every once in a while.
I like to take ground from a strange rub sight...and incorporate it around my hunting stand, somerimes it can be rewarding, nothing is a shore bet!
Good idea, my have to try that one.
Great video and thanks for posting. Won’t be too long and we will be watching your fall hunting videos. Keep up the good work on the cabin and Gob Bless you all.
Thanks Chad, will be here soon. Things are starting to change and fall is only a week away.
Enjoyed the video! Curious what your solar setup is. My camp is about an hour west of Wellsboro.
Take care.
If you have never seen Fish Hawk I would highly recommend
Thanks, haven't seen that one either.
Bucks will come to that clover if there in the area.. just give it time... Keep the same stump or use a new one very close to it... Deer are creatures of habit, they don't like change that's why it takes time before you see results
Thanks for the tips!
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊
Hi wayne
Take care!
Did you make your smoking bag? If so, how did you do it?
I bought that one, link is in the description. I have seen people make them with foil and pellets.
@@whiterook85 Thanks!
I swear i stopped at a Pudgies pizza a ways back. I thought it was in New York. Not Pa.
Think that might be a chain, the food is average, as is the beer cave. But it does give you a few new choices when you're up there. Feels great to step in there during the summer too.
@@whiterook85 Makes sense. TYVM. I really enjoy the solo vids.
Damn u stayed in duncansvill that close to where I live I live in tyrone good luck to you and the guys this year
Roaring Springs was pretty close, was a nice ride getting there.
if you want them to be calm just leave out some cbd gummies
Could be the thing to do!
Sending email photos of 2 Md. deer
Got it Michael, great looking bucks!
Thanks for a great video, I was curious when you showed your bear license. Did you live in Pennsylvania back then since it was a resident licence?
Yes, born in PA, lived there until we moved to DE back in 88. Thanks!
Thank you in advance for not supporting Kamala Harris!
To vote for someone who received zero votes and was installed as the candidate. None of that sounds right to me.
@@mikegetz8930 You're right! I've seen the fact checks. Thanks for your reply.
@@mikegetz8930 Down in New Castle now, must be a bit of a switch for you, live there for 15 years before heading a little more south.
A river runs through it?
Yes that was it, good movie, enjoyed it
I fracked natural gas up on dam run off 287 In 2020 I originally from West Virginia but Pennsylvania is the prettiest country I ever seen
You only hit .17 of an acre on my property, can you head back and get the whole thing! I think I'm making about 7 bucks a year. Thanks Terry, take care!
