Well this shows how old I am, (52) and how clueless. I didn't realise the tube didn't go out to Ongar anymore. I always wanted to do that journey it always seemed so much exotic 😂😂 I knew a bloke from Theydon Bois once which seemed so far from london!!
Those 1960 stock trains which can be identfied by the square door windows and (when viewed from inside the carriage) wooden framed louvred windows along the car sides had a good long run. I still remember some of these trains still in use on the Northern Line well into the 1990s and were only totaly phased out when the very cool '1995 stock' was introduced in 1998 on that line.
