Finally, a simple and effective eye routine that does not involve a full pallet of eyeshadows and liner techniques that you need an art degree to achieve 😁👍
Thank you. I am 63 years old and never known how to use eyeshadow hence, never tried to do eye make up. I find this simple and easy to follow technique and the result is terrific. And Shelby is such a beautiful girl. 😍
I'm a klutz at eye makeup, but this looks doable. Beautiful. I just found your channel, and am going to binge-watch your eye makeup videos. I love that you have a soft, natural look; in many videos they are so overdone that they end up looking better without makeup.
It's so interesting how our relationship to makeup can change so drastically. Eyeshadow used to be the most important makeup item in the world to me, and I wanted to own every color. But the older I get, the less I care about powder shadows and elaborate eyeshadow looks. It took me a long time to realize that's it's actually my least favorite part of doing my makeup and always has been. In fact, I find it a chore most of the time, so much so that it will often put me off doing my makeup entirely. I recently switched over to using a single cream eyeshadow for everyday, sometimes with a bit of pencil or liquid liner when I feel like it. They're game changers and mean the difference between my makeup application taking 10 minutes or 30 minutes. I still have a few palettes but am sad to say I barely use them anymore. Dragging out a large palette, 6 different brushes, coming up with a look, dealing with fallout, and blending forever is such an ordeal, and just isn't for me.
I don't want to say Shelbey changed my life with this video, but let me say I've never been able to apply eyeshadow before watching this. And I'm pretty old! OK, OK! Maybe she did change my life a little bit. Thanks, Shelbey! Thanks SO much!
You are at another level. Doing something simple and make it magic is not for everyone. You really teach us the power of makeup. Great channel, really thank you!
Aaaaaand a year later (since I first watched it) this video is still my favorite eyeshadow video. I can't thank you enough. I don't use the cream/stick shadows but the techniques you teach work with regular shadows. I use my finger to lay down color and then blend out with my tapered brush and then a little bit larger brush afterward to blend a bit further. It's so quick and so easy and the result is such a pretty, refined, yet sultry look. I love you and your channel. This video is essential!
SHELBEY. Thank you. It is SO nice to see an influencer who goes easy on the makeup and, well, to be quite honest, doesn't try to look like a clown with all of the dark, extreme colorful makeup. Thanks again for giving ideas for us normal folks out here in the world!
This is brilliant! I’m a guest at a wedding this weekend and was stressing about my eye look. Not wanting to make it too complicated etc. I have two Bobbi Brown shadow sticks so I’m going to give this practice. I think it’s just what I needed!!
Laura Mercer should absolutely be paying u girl. U love those sticks!! Such a flattering look on you also. Thank you for sharing this technique with us. Xoxo
Thank you so much for your tutorial and recommendations. I have watched this particular video four times, and bought the Caviar sticks yesterday. I love them! I am 54 with hooded eyes, and this look is so classy. Thank you again.
I’ve been using this technique 2-3 times per week since I saw your video on how to use cream shadows. I have all these powder eyeshadows but I always reach for my shadow sticks first. Love this look. I wish my version looked as beautiful as yours but I’ll keep trying! Thank you again for sharing this technique.
Tried this today and IT WAS AWESOMEEEEEEEEEE. It was quick and my eyes looked defined. I used NXY jumbo eye pencil in french fries and it performed really nicely lasted for THE WHOLE DAY. Thank you so much for sharing this awesome technique!
Your technique is amazing! Plenty of "one and done" videos out there, but you really get into exactly how to do it in STEPS!!! I'm all in and will try it. Thank you and keep this classic video up!!!!
This.....is simply amazing. Thank you soooo much for doing this video. I have never used cream shadow, going shopping tomorrow! I love quick and simple....and looks gorgeous to boot.
Best makeup video EVER!!! So simple yet amazing look. I have never used a stick shadow yet, now I think I will give it a go. Inspirational. Thank you Shelbey!
I have been doing just one color eye shadow for years and I cannot believe the different colors that people spend seemingly hours messing with. Yours looks so pretty!!!
Follow up to my original comment, I went and bought this exact caviar stick. I love it. Beautiful colour and stays put throughout the day with minimal creasing. I wish I had discovered cream eye shadow years ago. $38 here in Canada, so definitely a splurge but you get what you pay for.
Absolutely love it! Laura Mercier should be paying you for this easy, but beautiful technique and look with the caviar sticks! Can’t wait to try this on myself. Love how it raised the corners of your eyes. And it looks so clean too.
I literally stopped what I was doing and ran to Mecca here in Tasmania and grabbed the LAST Christmas collection one with 4 mini caviar sticks for $60. #Lifesaver . Thank you
I only loyally watch a few RUclipsrs and Shelbey is hands down my fav! Keeping it real all the time! I fell in love 😍 with the LM Cavier sticks because of you and I have just about all of them! I have done this technique, again because of you, and it is so easy to do!! Thanks for all you do!
I recently purchased this color to do this look as I love the simplicity of it. I used the wrong brush so I didn’t quite get the look but it also didn’t last through the day. I don’t rub my eyes and I wear glasses. By 3pm, there was very little of it left on my eyelids.
I've tested the Bobbi Brown sticks and they are sooo creamy, blend beautifully and set perfectly. I just didn't know what to do with them, but you make it look so easy!
I love this! It's taking me some practice as I've watch you do this before but I'm slowly getting there! LOL! Thank you for always keeping it simple, not tens of thousands of eye products and hours spent on a beautiful eye look!
It's a GREAT LOOK Shelbey, but then again this is an any older video still I had too vouch for this look. You are a *master artist* at doing tasteful eyeshadow looks!!! And I love this on you. I can't seem to get exactly right probably cause my eyes are a different shape. Love this!🤹♂️🤹♀️😷🤗👍😎😷
I took your advice and you are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. That L M cream shadow stick is amazing!! Perfect, creamy consistency. I purchased the Rosegold for the light areas, and my perfect liner/shadow color is Khaki. Thank you for the recommendation.
This is awesome! I already stopped at Sephora and bought three caviar sticks. I’m 59 and it’s so hard to get a soft and simple eye when using powder shadows.
I've been practicing with some but this might just get me to another level 😂 oh yes, and if course a couple of Laura's stix on my Christmas list 😂 mama can have a few luxury things, TFS doll 😘❤️
Absolutely true to your word. Even better is how quickly this look can be done AND it's fantastic for us gals with beautiful hooded eyes. Thanks again Shelby. Your makeup techniques are user friendly and always end up looking so polished.
I just bought this eyeshadow stick just so I can do this look😂😂😂 I'm a mom to 2 small children and I don't always have time to do a fancy look. This is perfect for me!! Thanks for the tip!!
I really liked this tutorial so thank you... I always concentrate on my eyes and use a similar colour to this. But as you say, many pallets are a waste of money and I’m often left with so many unused colours. This was was just a simple technique with one item. Okay I’m now off shopping! 😊
TYSM for this video, I picked up a Cocoa stick at Sephora on an employee's recommendation but couldn't figure out how best to apply it. This was super helpful and I feel so pretty wearing it this way!
Purchased Nutrogena hydro Boost and all i can say is WOW..IT’S GREAT! Not sure Hourglass is worth the extra money..but this stuff didn’t move, break up, and felt like MY SKIN! The Giorgio Armani is so pricey and made my skin feel dry and deteriorated by days end. Am stunned and very grateful for your videos!!!!!!!!
I absolutely love this. I never learned how to do makeup, so I've been winging it over the years, and I seriously do nothing with my eyes but mascara...and on the top lashes only, no less! One reason I haven't branched out is because makeup gets too expensive when you're working with 20 different products to produce one look. I simply can't do that! I don't have the budget, the talent, or the time. This one trick literally solves all my problems. Now I just need the courage to try it, lol.
NICE!! Just what I need ....... U did a marvelous job in showing these simple and effective make up tricks... 💙💙 it.!! Thank u for sharing these useful tips.....👍👍💗💗
I tried this with a crayon from the drug store. Didn't work particularly well - the colour wasn't dense enough. Then I got the Laura Mercier stick. Game changer. Just a little smudge and some brushing and done. Thank you for this technique.
Thank you! What a great way to begin a day that must transition into a more dramatic, or glossier look for the evening ahead. I have always used powder eyeshadows, but have considered transitioning into creme or stick shadows, now that my skin is drier, and my time for blending and mixing has become shorter. What you so deliciously showed us is exactly what I have been searching for. I have subscribed, and even though I am rediculouslyolder than you, the product and the technique will do me well. That is saying a lot!
I love this!! I’m not good at over complicated eyeshadow looks. I only use cream shadows so I love getting tutorials with them. I just bought the two cream palettes from The Balm and I can’t wait to try this.
Fantastic video! I am excited to try this technique. It never occurred to me to use a brush with the cream sticks. Thanks for the tip on the matte recommendation, too. I think that the shimmery stick or even shades is something I need to change.

I fell in love with the colours of the UD naked honey palette and I’d love to learn how to do this with a powder shadow as it’s not gone too well so far. Can you do this kind of one shadow tutorial with a powder shadow (any colour) or recommend a brush as when I’m trying this with powder? I always seem to make it migrate to below my eye and not in a good way. Love how simple yet how glam I end up looking with your tutorials.
Thank you very much for this, I am definitely going to try it. My eyeliner always smudges or disappears so I hope this really lasts. You did a beautiful job thank you!
I’ve for years used one shade for all the gradations, and didn’t realize until I started watching RUclips tutorials just how many different colors so many people (unnecessarily?) use. I still love my one-color technique, and it’s nice to see it validated :-) That said, a bonus step I’ve always loved is a bit of light gold/taupe shimmer under the eyebrow and in the inner corner of the eye.
Oooh, I just tried it out and it's dummies proof! Super easy and fast but it really looks as if you put a lot of effort into it 😋 You have no idea how much time you saved me in the mornings! I could squeeze you koala style right now! Hugs and chocolate chip cookies from Spain 💕

Totally agree!
lol your comment made me laugh. True though.
🤣👍👍👍👍👍
Love this! 😆
Love this. People need more videos on how to do simple, minimal product looks
🥰🥰
Thanks Shelbey! Youre the first bigger youtuber thats ever responded to me :)
Is taupe from lancome ok????
Finally a simple video to follow and straight to the point. Some videos take too long.

I just LOVE all of your looks. They're good for any age range. And I agree, the Laura Mercier sticks are awesome.
You look like Ellen Pampeo from grays anatomy. I like the simplicity of the look.
I don’t like waking up an hour early in the morning just to put on makeup, so something super simple but effective like this is perfect
This is brilliant! I’m a guest at a wedding this weekend and was stressing about my eye look. Not wanting to make it too complicated etc. I have two Bobbi Brown shadow sticks so I’m going to give this practice. I think it’s just what I needed!!
Brilliant, thank you!! Love that it's ONE eyeshadow and simple!!! Who has an hour to put on makeup everyday???
You have beautiful young skin. It's refreshing to see a young woman who doesn't overdo makeup but is naturally beautiful. I love this idea.

I love this technique! I have mature, hooded eyes with minimal lid space and the caviar stix are perfect and worth it.
You make it seem so easy and it is. It works for me. You're very pretty with or without makeup! Thank you for sharing.

What BB shades of the creamy eyeshadow sticks do you use? I have Truffle & Taupe.
This is the best eye shadow tutorial video i ever seen. Very simple. Not a lot of color to put on but very nice result
I would love to see a navy blue eye look for work!
Sheer [Shelbey] brilliance!!!!! My new go-to look ... 👍
Wow - that was really helpful and you explained it so well! It really does look like multiple shades and eyeliner included. So simple and easy.
