What are the specifications of your computer?
😘
Amazing
It's not just another environment tutorial, it's the best environment tutorial there is😎!
Thank you so much for your tutorial, it’s so clear and help me so much at my collage assignments, keep it up, love from indonesia 🇮🇩🙌
Bro this is Amazing. It's Just what I was looking for. I will follow your tutorial around step by step in the next days. Thanks for sharing this gem!
You are welcome!
I only intended to watch the material section but you explained everything so well I'm going to watch the whole video. Great tutorial!
thats great to know!
It was what I was looking for. Very easy to follow the steps. It works!
Great tutorial, have learnt so much. Thanks a lot for your time and sharing your skills here and on your site. Peace from Scotland.
Welcome! happy to help 😁
My god I love your tutorials, very well explained and easy to follow. Also the quality of work is just amazing.
Wow, thank you!
Thank you, the most useful tutorial I`ve seen about landscape and unreal engine
Glad to know it! 😁
This is such a beautiful tutorial, great explanation and in depth. This is the best tutorial ive seen, thank you for your help with this. Your amazing
Thank you so much!
By far my favorite channel for these tutorials. I find everything so easy besides the blueprints at times lol
thank you! glad you found your channel helpful 😁
This tutorial is incredibly useful... I'm impressed. Thank you so much!
Thanks for the kind words!
Absolutely brilliant tutorial thankyou so natural and straight into creating so I can really get to know what I can do in a practical way.
thank you!
I have been looking for this all day. Thank you very much.
No problem!
Finally, now I know how to make a good terrain ;-; 👍
You deserve a subscriber!! I'm on it! 🎉🎉🎉
This is by far the best tutorial I found on RUclips, very useful and will follow up with my results :D
Thank you 😁
@@unfgames We have to wade through crap before we find this video which as actually super useful :D so I've been sharing it around. Why are the map sizes all odd numbers?
really love the way you deliver the information, you did not assume people already know something and skip a step, this save me from searching the information else where and come back which is really annoying. I was watching similar tutorial video, but I hit a wall just 1 minute into the tutorial just because the guy too lazy to talk about landscape material blending.
Thank you, happy you appreciate it! 😁
PHENOMENAL TUTORIAL!!!
Thank you!
GREAT TUTORIAL LEARNED ALOT THANKS ++++
great tutorial without errors and missing explanations 👍
Thanks!
I have seen a dozen of videos before and you are my favorite tutor! You have so much experience, I can tall it right away. Learned so much from you. Thank you!!!
Thank you for the kind words!
excellent tutorial you did, I like it. thank you man.
You're welcome!
Loved it bro, keep going on 😍😍
thanks!
Amazing tutorial, i'm complete newbie, but understand everything, thanks to you. Even though my native language is not english
You 've got a new sub... this was awesome! Thaks for a lot!
thank you! you are welcome 😁
OMGG , THANK YOU SO MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH
MWAH
Great tutorial. Point of note for users of additional keyboard\mouse shortcuts. Holding the left and right mouse buttons at the same time also pans the camera in the perspective viewport. The spacebar also cycles the gizmo through the move, rotate and scalae functions. Thanks for this great tutorial!
Thank you! You are welcome!
Thank you for explaining the two accesses, keyboard shortcut and selection because on my side, no keyboard shortcuts work.
Completely PERFECT TEACHER....i started unreal today, but i understand hiw can i do landscape..and i found my all question in my head \m/ you great man thanks a loooot:) and pls do it more and more videos like this and teach more diffirent things too \m/
thank you for the kind words! glad you found it useful!
Incredible tutorial
Thank you!
Wow this is very helpful
Wow, what a great tutorial😀! Really helped me out man can't wait to see more awesome tutorials😎!
glad to know it!
It's just so crazy what you can do with Unreal. It's so unreal😂. (pun definitely not intended).
@@unfgames Thanks for replying man, can't wait to see even more of your awesome tutorials in the future😁.
And by the way, shout out to this absolute legend😀.
Hello,
firstly, amazing tutorial. Also i was wondering if blending the meshes into the layers of our material take less video memory than painting it with foliage painter as in foliage mode
Keep up the good work.
will do! 💪
I'm 20 minutes in and I can see so much potential, I tried blender in the past it's way too complicated imo but I'm a newb and just want to create and explore. Great video so far and I will continue watching for sure I've learned a lot already.
Thank you! Glad you can learn from it 😁
You won’t get far with Unreal if you think blender is too hard. Unreal is very complex and if you won’t take the time to learn it then your results wont be the best
Thank you so much
Impresive👍🏻🔥
thanks!
Man this is pure gold
Glad you appreciate it 😀
Huge fan of your channel, and I have a question. when I start painting textures on the landscape. under Landscape mode >Paint> I select auto material and use other textures to fill and paint. then I use L1 to fill the landscape to change the settings and then go back to auto material, the previously painted textures are not saved. how do I solve this issue?
Nice!
For terrain paint under Tools Settings (UE5.1) you have 'Use Target Value'. Set this to 1 (one) and Tool Strength to very low, and you can blend even finer when painting on top of main layer (L1) :)
nice tip!
Very helpful and insightful tutorial. Thanks to you, noobs like me can learn something about unreal engine 😅
Glad you enjoyed it! Everyone starts somewhere
Awesome! 🥦
Thank you 😋
Great tutorial, just a question, I know how to import maps and manage the conversion from the Gaia software, is it better to work with that or all create in ue5?
I can't make up my mind.
Another thing, if I create a level and I want to openworld afterwards, I have to import the map into an open world or does it change anything? I can't see the difference between the two.
Thank you again, I master blender but Ue5 I always had trouble and this tutorial is by far the most qualitative I've seen so far, I subscribe directly.
Thank you sir
amazing
ты крут, спасибо большое!)
welcome!
your video is super and very clearfully. do you can bring a video , how to create account and how to upload 3d model , Environment project to unreal engine marketplace website step by step
Cool bro
funcionaaaa muchas graciaas!!!!!!!!
de nada
thankkkkkk youuuuu god bless youuuuuuu thank u thank u thank u so much
Most welcome 😊
Best!
This is awesome I’m going to give it a go
awesome!
Great tuto but you didn't fix the issue about the foliage clipping
I was pretty sure you were going to talk about it but no
I watched this tuto for this actually 😂
If someone know the tip don't hesitate to share it
would be great
thank you UNF 😀
use per instance fade amount node
Great tutorial! But I've got a problem with tree collisions (which I added through Materal Layer Instance). I've made simple collisions but it doesn't work. I also can't see any option related to collision in Material Layer Instacnce for my forest
ive ran into the same problem. did you ever figure it out? apparently its much easier if we do the foliage painter route instead of material layer instance
great tutorial, thank you! I want to make sure that I understand the logic behind when to use landscape mode for generating foliage vs. foliage mode. In landscape mode, although it takes more time to setup, I am now in control of *all* instances of brush painting in the space. In other words, editing attributes such as density affects all foliage vs. when in foliage mode I would not be able to do this without re-painting. Is that accurate? Also, are there any contrasting performance implications for using one or the other? thanks again!
Correct, performance wise are the same because you can change the culling options and distance on both. Putting it on the landscape makes it more automatic, whereas painting with the foliage tool can be for anything specific you want to control
@@unfgames righteous. I just finished the entire tutorial and learned a ton. Virtual texture streaming was tricky but with some extra reading about what it is I was able to figure it out. Definitely going to be an indispensable tool for me now!
@@jakep8948 thats great to hear! yes, virtual textures should be the default way of handling textures actually! its too good to not use, the benefits are great
How do you fix the repeating texture? If you look at 48:32 on the bottom right handside of the layers, the same texture is repeated. Is there a way to get rid of that?
thank you
welcome
Hey bro.....can u post a vdo on making realistic roads or a highway scene
at around the 36 minute mark, you use a bunch of short cuts - what are the exact keys you press? For example I'm pressing M but not getting the multiply node
hold M and click
Thanks for your job! You are very inspiring me)) Your videos like homework for me...in good sense)) tell me please, how can i turn on the same panel with fps stats and memory?
Go to Editor Preferences type "Edit Performance" in search then you need to check "Show Frame Rate and Memory" have fun :)
@@Matb38 Thanks man!)
thank you! I see you got the answer already. Please share with us your creations on Discord!
Hi UNF games
I have a problem in my level, my foliages are in correct place when I'm in select mode but whenever I press play in some areas foliages where floating in the air and some gose underneath the landscape and the character also doing the same thing in those areas what can I do to fix this
I'm so annoyed having this issue 😣😡
hello, thx for this tutorial,
i try to make Colision on foliage and don`t work!
But one by one work.
Thank you for always providing great videos, I'm watching every vidoe. I thought it was a video on environment design and watched it, and it was good to see a lot of ways to optimize.
So I have one question. If the character doesn't change clothes, does removing the skin from the character's clothes help optimize the game? The body has 40,000 polygons. If I remove it, it will be 20,000.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Yes, it is more optimized of course 😁
@@unfgames Thanks for your advise XD.
This guy is just the better unreal sensei
Thank you! Although I think he teaches very well 😁
@@unfgames absolutely, but if you want anything other than the basics you’ll have to pay money.
@@thinmint1330 True! 😄 although we try to make the content as beginner friendly as possible, we want to satisfy those who are looking for more by giving deeper knowledge typically only known among veterans in the industry. Gotta walk the walk! 🚶♂
Hey Mate! great tutorial, heplful and to the point, really got me started in no time. Hey, got a quick question for you: with this workflow, how could we add emissive to a specific plant in the paint layer... Following this techique I actually created an extra layer for all plants which are intended to glow, created it's Layer info, set it and painted it... but I can't seem to find a way to separate its channels... Any ideas? thanks so much
You could override the material on the foliage actor properties to the one that uses emissive, I think your approach is correct. You should create another paint layer if you want to have something special, what do you mean by separating the channels?
@@unfgames Wow! was longing for but not exactly expecting this quick a reply, much appreciated!. Yup probably I'm lacking some of the UE slang, but the thing is I can't manage to find where to connect the emissive to that specific layer or material, since it's painting L1 underneath it, right? so when I multiply its output, the emissive "channel" affects the entire paint layer and the entire background, should I make a new layer instead of connecting Layer1 to the "L6_FlowersGlow"/Layer Blend input in my case?. Otherwise I go to the LGT_02 and open the asset/ material but can't seem to find that emissive tab under Parameter groups. Only: Alb, Rgh, Op, Nrm, Trs, and wind... Also: sounds logical about overriding the material, but I'm not quite sure how to do it... sorry, this is literaly my 1st UE project. I'd love to share the output with you, it's really coming along nicely.
Quick update: I understood what you meant and got to override the material, thanks! keep it up, awesome channel, already subsctibed!
@@user-yg4lq4fi2t you can always add a new paint layer if you want something entirely different. Sure! Feel free to share it on our Discord
When I try to paint on the trees the meshes continuously moves and stretches in the scene. Any idea how to fix this?
the height contrast thing BAAAARELY works for me, it makes the most subtle difference that I have a hard time noticing it.
could it be because of the different surface materials I used?
I did all this with Beach sand and Gravels surface textures
have you tried with a bigger number? like 50 or something
@unfgames still doesn't work please help
это очень круто все так же прошу сделать видео о каких-нибудь интересных механик хоррор игр
horror games are not our thing but lets see!
Nice
tnx
Could you apply this method to a stylised scene? I'm pretty new to UE and really trying to go full throttle with environ design with environ design
yeah, just use stylized assets, you can apply the same principles used in this tutorial 😁
Hi, when I try to download material from quixel bridge, I get the following warning. ''Asset not available in UAsset format''
I cannot solve this problem. Can you help me?
Thanks,
Hello, love the tutorial! I am having an issue where I am trying to do the landscape layers but I cannot see the layers. i tried loading into another map like you said and loading back still does nothing. also, my material is coming up as black in the materials editor. any suggestions on how to fix these issues?
Try re-applying the material you created to the landscape again. That should fix it for you. It did for me
same issue here bud, have you find any solution?
@@danielkosa490 Make sure you give the layer a name in the landscape layer blend, sorry im late i was having the same problem, hope you didnt give up
@@TheTromaster solved cheers,
fantastique
when i click on the texture to see the RGB i dont get the Details and Oodle panel what am i missing?
Hello!!
First, thank you for your great tutorial! I’m learning a lot with it!
Now I’m in chapter, and I have a little problem with trees.
When I use the black alder tree with landscape grass layer painting, the trees shake up and down really much (as if it is some kind of rubber band!!)
I tried to adjust the wind options but it didn’t work… when I tried to put the tree with just dragging it into the ground one by one, the trees have no problem.
I think it’s only when I’m trying it with grass layer painting way.
Could you help me solve this problem please?
That looks like a bug, the only thing the comes into my mind is that you can check the settings of your grass actor to see if there is something wrong
@UNF Games Wow thank you for your very quick respond!! I'll try that!
Thank you 😊
I have the same problem, did you manage to solve it? If so, how did you do it?
@trena wraeto yes I fixed it. I got into the tree's texture page and lowered or unchecked the wind option maybe... it's been a while so I don't remember exactly what I did... try the options in the tree's texture page!
@@user-gu9zj4iv5g Thank you, fixed it too. I double clicked on the tree's geometry, and again onto each individual element. Under the wind option, you can check the 'andvanced wind' box. Thanks again
What's the tool that you use for the annotations, arrows, scribbles?
Lightshot
how to i add collision to the trees?
excellent video. you are good at teaching.
However, you should learn a little more about geology, botany, and ecosystems. ; )
im not far off to lose my clear mind,
how on Earth i could not open tab for landscape?
im stucked at adding taxtures bit,
if any one could help with that would be ace
other than that i love the tutorial
cool, but why I can't randomize my material like in 36:54?
Virtual Texture is available for Unreal Engine 5.1 SM6.
Why complicate the creation of grass so much, if you can do it through the Foliage actor?
Hello, when I started creating the trees and i connected my layer 1 as well as layer 1 height to my layertrees, the landscape textures went away. And I'm not sure how to get it back.
Textures need to be on shared: wrap, maybe is that
The landscape doesn't turns to black after I created the L1, Tried re opening the level as you said but still the same, layers are not showing any solution please??
mind sharing your material in our discord?
@@unfgames I figured it out brdh thank you so much ❤❤
Hi can u make world 4000 on 4000. And make something on this World. Because I have same problems with world with this size
Hello, Can you please post your system configuration?
i7, rtx 2070 super, 32gb ram
I'm pretty new to Unreal engine but I have a HUGE problem. After shaping the landscape, saved the project and closed the program and restarted and re-opened it, the world window is no more. I don't know how but it doesn't appear. How can I open it again?
bro I can help you
Look at the tabs on the top of your screen click on of them and it should have the option to open the world windows and others etc.
Great tutorial, what is your config pls?

I have difficulty to add river or lake, water doesn't not show up.. if i uncheck affecting landscape..If I checked the terrain is changed
Make sure water feats are turned on in the plugins list
How will you add collisions to trees when using landscape grass type ?
The collisions are on the foliage actor settings
i tried adding collision on trees when i used grass type foliage method for procedural but it didnt work @@unfgames
Why when I try to use the smooth it flat the terrain?
I love that just in the background something is stealing cars lmao
lol
So after you make a map how do you turn it into a game and add characters and missions and stuff like that
You can Start here ruclips.net/video/W0brCeJNMqk/видео.html
Hi
When I try to make a ramp, I always get some super high and ugly towers, do you know how to fix this ?
you could change the falloff settings
Height contrast is not working whatsoever. I did everything exactly as shown. Please help
I've had 0 problems up until just now. I got some megascan trees from a similar pack to the one you showed. It was a 5.1. I am in 5.2 and when I try to drag and drop the trees, it gives me this symbol: 🚫
Am I missing something or do I have to wait for an update?
You are trying to drag and drop the foliage actor and not the static mesh
@@unfgames Thank you!!
how do i create a sequence?
when I go through the Virtual texture setup steps I an error after applying the new VT material into the ORT node it says "The current material has compilation errors, so it will not render correctly in feature level SM5" I found a solution online that I think will work but I have no idea at all what any of the steps actually mean:
."make sure you set a constant 0 into metallic, specular & roughness"
."then make sure your texture is plugged into base colour and emissive"
."make sure your material is set to decal and that both blend modes are set to translucent"
Could someone please try to help me because I am very confused right now...
sometimes you need to remake the nodes by deleting and creating a new one with the virtual texture sampler, also keep in mind that "ORT" stands for an opacity mask. Virtual textures do not work with Opacity Masked Materials so you should use a normal texture there
why when i link the layers heights an error occur, saying that i cannot mix materialattributes with nonmaterial nodes
If you got a picture it can help, maybe you can share it on our Discord
