Great tip with the folders! I reckon RGL recommend not to use your TV USB during the firmware update because there's a chance the TV could automatically power itself down during the update if it's been on long enough :-) Keep up the awesome work!
Any chance you could make a quick video of you going through the manual John? Would help make up my mind and hopefully others when it comes to actually needing or wanting it? Thanks!
I'll maybe look at it tomorrow. Could do a ton of vids on this thing. Looking at the inbuilt games, custom control set up and the extended colour option.
The user manual pdf is 66 pages and the one you can buy is 256 according to amazon. From what I've seen on youtube the user manual which is ringbound that youtubers received contains appendices with the details of all the games, etc. So they're not the same.
I have the press version and it's 290 pages so yeah, there's a difference but the majority of it is specific game instructions, which I assume is the same in the one available for purchase. I wonder why they didn't make the full version available for download as you really do need those instructions if you're not familiar with the games.
@@simonwilliamson1979 I read in the comments on another youtube video that someone did the firmware update and it turned their Spectrum into a brick. That's only what I read. I did not do the update myself.
@@Retroguyuk75 one bug i noticed is that you can't select classic mode to initialize the spectrum...i selected and turned on again and i was on classic mode again
Bit of a brown trouser moment with mine, it was DOA until I discovered you have to feed it's power from a USB A output, I was going C to C and it did not like it. I think people got their hopes too high for it, at the end of the day it is just an emulated Spectrum and if you want the fancy stuff get something like a SIZIF.
Cheers great directory tip! 👍
Great to see Retro Games are so proactive with their support
New firmware? Cool. As for the Crazy Extra, thanks for the dip! 😁👍

Yeah, definitely best to power through the mains via USB adaptor. I've learned lesson the hard way..
A FW update to allow USB joysticks that aren’t made by retrogames Ltd would be a nice addition

Glad they’ve removed it after my experience but I doubt I’ll be updating it on my replacement unit any time soon regardless!
Yeah I'd hang fire just incase..
Quick question anyone know if a 5v 3a powere supply will be OK with the Spectrum? Cheers
Yes.
Just make sure you take the power from a USB A output on your power adapter, the Spectrum does not like USB C at source.
its 256 folders at root or in another folder, with 256 files per folder.

The firmwares has now been removed from the website due to compatibility issues.
I updated it yesterday and worked good...what compatibility issues are?
@ no idea. That’s all it says on the website.

The new firmware is bugged, that are advising that you do not install it.
Yeah I didnt know that. Definitely creates a few problems with controls on some games.

Respective folders, not retrospective folders. 😉
