    As a Spurs fan, Dejounte been overrated on defense for a while now. He’s got a 6’10 wingspan and is good at getting in the passing lanes and picking pockets at times but his man to man defense is dookie

  • @realdreamerschangetheworld7470
    @realdreamerschangetheworld7470 Год назад +43

    Dejounte isn’t that much of an issue for the Hawks. It’s our Forwards (outside of a recently cleared-to-play Jalen Johnson). There would be very little improvement by shipping DJM off. His defense isn’t high level, but his deflections and steals are. And he’s a solid 20/5/5 player. He generally has less than 3 turnovers per game and is shooting 38% from 3. The trade bidding, in my opinion, is an overreaction to the multiple injuries at the 3 and 4. Also Deandre’s injury is redirecting all the heat he was getting early in the season to Dejounte. And sure, it’s true that even while fully healthy we weren’t a top defense. But shipping DJ for OG won’t change that. Being a top offense DOES NOT equal guard depth, and for as good as a bench they are, Trent, Patty, and the Matthews cannot carry us to the play-in. Nor do I trust Bogi’s health to consistently start, especially with AJ & Kobe being out as well. We need to be buying (not selling) right now to get some quick-footed, defense-first (but offense contributing) size, even if it means waiving some of the more obvious deep roster spots. Even if it means hitting the luxury tax.
    DJM can improve substantially by increasing his assist numbers and keeping a clear vision of the court, even when driving. Essentially, by actually playing PG when Trae is sitting. Outside of that, our (main) guards on this Hawk team, are not the problem.
    In response to trade Capela segment, Hawks fans are often disgruntled by our Center Play, but Capela is a leading rebounder. In fact, he’s 9th in the league. He’s also 9th in the league for FG% (59.3%). Trade him for Hartenstein and your woes will only increase two-fold. And no, bias aside for one of my favorite players, Big O isn’t ready to start consistently. Moves will be made I am sure. The one which sends DJ away for anything less valuable than his acquisition, is a poor one.

      Bulls fan here, and a very solid take. I was looking in depth at your Hawks since the beginning, and I felt like they were gonna figure it out this season, but are still in the middle of the pack. The team structure certainly is there, and the Hawks should be at least a top-6 in the East. It just feels off despite the injuries. The question for you is who are the trade targets the Hawks should be eyeing? I saw reports of Pascal Siakam, and he would a good guy to add. If that doesn't work, maybe perhaps someone like Jerami Grant from the Trailblazers. I feel like Dejounte should stay as well, but he needs to bring back that defensive prowess he once had.

But yeah, to answer, I think the guys you have listed are among the primary interests (in the fanbase anyways). Siakam in particular, though there have been some worries with his contract and whether he walks after the fact. Another one would be Caruso, but he’s *seemingly untouchable right now and rightly so, lol.
      Definitely agree with you on Dejounte. I also thought the Hawks squad would be a top 6-Seed, and we were, then kept falling. Hopefully we can start synergizing well again. Good luck to your Bulls!

    Secondary ballhandler, excellent defense, reasons why Dejounte made sense. Reasons why he didn't make sense. 1) Trae Young's character is lacking. So is Dejounte's. 2) Trae likes to score, but not put in the effort in shooting practice or on-court defense. 3) Dejounte thinks he an all-star who should score more. Remember what happened prior to last season when Dejounte acted out against Paulo Banchero in the summer. 4) Dejounte is great on defense, when he's guarding PG's or at least getting credit for doing his spot proud. In Atlanta he's supposed to guard his guy, make up for Trae not guaring his guy, and be happy with Trae dominting the ball while getting criticism for not being a better off-ball shooter. 5) Dejounte is the import to Trae being the domestic version. Trae has seniority. The Hawks are slightly positive on picks in the future, contracts aren't killing them, but they were supposed to be good. 6) They lack continuity, but most importantly Trae is not a star. He's packaged as a star. He's good enough to be a star, but he's not a star. 7) Dejounte will take the fall for Trae, and the Hawks problems will persist. 8) If Dejounte's character doesn't improve he will learn that nobody coddles an import, he's always expendable, and will be a man with a thousand grudges going forward.

    Lakers simps are hilarious, “hey we got all this trash that were about to turn into a superstar and draft picks” haha. But who else remembers how annoying lakers fans were this summer thinking their trash pickups/signings were diamond coated gold making them a lock to win it all? 😂😂😂

    People need to realize DJM never ever wanted to be a defensive guy. Early in his career he couldn't get minutes, so Kawhi told him to focus on his defense to get minutes from Pop. And that worked great, but DJ had to keep playing defense on the Spurs. As time went on and he became a better offensive talent, DJ felt like his defense isn't his main thing anymore. That's why he doesn't have that energy. Only the Spurs/Pop could force him to play at his most intense. Its clear now that Derrick White is a better player than DJ, even though he was traded for much much less

    For the Hawks to continue to become more serious about really contending in the eastern conference, they should try to acquire Pascal Siakam in a trade package centered around De’Andre Hunter and Bogdanovic (regardless if they trade Dejounte Murray).

    6:44 Have to disagree that Quickly isn’t a big downgrade from Dejounte, If anything Dejounte light is dim because of Trae Young’s need to have the ball yeah he gets a lot of assist but they mostly come from his bail out play Dejounte will be a huge asset to a team where he can be the dominant ball handler.

      Given the Lakers history as champions, the organization has no patience for rebooting. With multiple championships in their history, it’s hard for them to get behind the concept. I can’t imagine the fans fully getting behind the concept.

    Wrong!! Both the Lakers and Knicks have stated that they "want" DJM but the Hawks haven't responded to the trade rumors. Until I see the Hawks respond, its pure hogwash. The same thing I said last year when the "Lakers" were discussing with themselves about wanting Trae Young. Fake news!!

    this didn’t age well, new package for murray though would be fournier and grimes and maybe 3 ish picks, obviously it lacks the two guys that were just trade for og and is a less enticing deal BUT if the hawks are desperate enough i see them taking this deal or adding in a third team or some other asset from the knicks.
