  • We take you to a genuine sapphire mine near Franklin, NC where we meet with the caretaker and dig into the hillside searching for the elusive Sapphires.
    We had the entire mine to ourselves during our visit to Mason's Ruby & Sapphire Mine. Franklin, NC which is known for Rubies, Emeralds, Sapphires and more. There are several mines where you can pay to dig but only a couple that have unsalted, native sapphire mines! Franklin, NC sits inside the Nantahala National Forest and just a short drive away you can see some spectacular waterfalls including filming locations for films such as The Last of the Mohicans.
    Special thanks to Judie for her hospitality on keeping the mine open with severe weather in the forecast. Check out Mason's Ruby & Sapphire Mine. Visit www.masonsmine.com for more information on their mine.

    I really enjoyed your video, I haven't went mining before like what your video showed but I have done a few paydirt bags and I'm hooked. I would love to make it down to mason's ruby and sapphire mine and do what you did. I'm going to be watching more of your videos and I look forward to where you go next. As I live in Illinois and work almost all year long its hard to get to do something I truly enjoy doing. Thanks for reading and hope ya'll have a great day.

    If you ever find your way to Montana there is a Sapphire mine in Phillipsburg, unfortunately they dig the dirt for you but well worth the $27 a bag.
    We will put a video up on our channel next time we go through a bag.

    How nice of the lady to basically keep things going just for you! That whole end of the state is a jewel box. Have you considered visiting Thermal? If you do, try running a load of gravel through the trommel. Back in 2007 it cost me $75, it was well worth it. About three grams of gold with two nice pickers.

      @WanderingBuffalos  5 лет назад +1

      Yes...that place has awesome customer service. We have been thinking of stopping in Thermal City...we have heard good things.

    If you're looking for the sapphires they should be on the bottom part of the clumps when you shake it. If the sapphire is real it wouldn't fracture clean. Instead, it would fracture and chip like quartz and glass.

    I live in nw Alabama east Alabama is where all the gold and minerals are. There is jasper where I live. When I was a kid playing in creeks in Talladega. Geodes were plenty I would crack them open and look at it and throw it back down. All I was interested in was crawfish and snakes fishing. If I knew then . I have friends that still owns property. In east Alabama thats my very first prospecting in the near future.

      Beautiful area there! I was working at Yellow Creek back in 1981 and I loved the Quad cities area. Arrow heads, fishing, great fresh food. Oh yeah, my daughter was born there too lol

      My grandma lives just off i20 east of Talladega. Ohhhh the gold we found there. Small yes but bountiful. Look for the quarts and pan below without breaking a rock.

    I found a 75 carat sapphire in Cherokee nc. I paid for it to be cut, I got 4 stones, 2-3 carat ear rings. 1- 6 carat pendent , and 1-5 carat ring. They cut them for $500. I have a ruby uncut the shape of ur thumb. I can’t wait to cut it

    Those tubes are not sapphires or rubies it’s agatized or opalized tubes from sea life I thought they were to but sadly it’s not it’s sio2h3 sapphires are not brittle desenegrate literally second hardest material and the fluorescence is weak and like she said there kinda not so leaverite

    • @WanderingBuffalos
      @WanderingBuffalos  4 года назад +1
