I like this movie, despite the motion capture not perfect it's a good dark version of the book. Jim Carreys performance is very good, and the Victorian atmosphere is amazing.
On the Blu-Ray, there is a special feature where you can watch the whole film without any animation at all, just the actors in motion capture. You ought to see Jim acting out the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. He just stands there doing nothing. Jim Carrey standing there and doing nothing is an odd thought.
I think this is the best version of the Christmas Carol I've ever seen. I've seen many versions, and this is the most true to the original book that I'd read before. The Ghost of Christmas Past is the most like the version I understood from the book; speaking in an airy whisper and it's visit is ended similarly like in the movie with Scrooge snuffing him out. Yeah it's got that super high energy uncanny valley aspect, but still I can over look that. But to each their own.
Plus since the book had that ghost constantly changing the candle imagery works quite well and quite possibility was the original intention given the snuff cone
This is the second Christmas movie you’ve reviewed that has Jim Carry in a row. Also i feel as though if I had to pick the better ghost of Christmas Present that would be the one from Muppets Christmas. I feel that one was the most jolly and wholesome
@@LePenguin Maybe he'd get Mark Hamill to play the head Meanie. Which would be hilarious since Hamill says that it was the Meanie that influenced his portrayal of Joker.
Although I loved how detailed this film was, I have to say I'm glad we weren't able to bring my younger brothers to watch it when I went with my cousins (At the time, my youngest brother only nine) since most of the scenes with the ghosts, ESPECIALLY Jacob Marley and Christmas Present were downright terrifying! They would have been traumatized by the loose jaw and the laughing skeleton for sure! O_O; I think I prefer the musical version, or even the Muppet version of the book, to be honest.
I was expecting that Jambareeqi is going to review Klaus or Santa Claus is Comin' to Town. Oh well, I suppose I can live without them. In the meantime, I shall happily await him to review Wolfwalkers or Soul.
I did not know that Carrey played more than one character in this, other than Scrooge. While I do agree that some parts a bit uncomfortable and are over the top in most scenes, I think it was just the uniqueness of the film itself that I kind of have a guilty pleasure. It’s no where near a favorite of mine personally, but it does give me something else to watch when there’s nothing else on at Christmas Great review on this Jam!

Jacob Marley's jaw coming off reminds me of Army of Darkness when Evil Ash's jaw comes off. "Oh, you miserable bags of bones! Pick yourselves up and sally fo....! Sally fo......! Sally forth!"
I personally find the motion capture to work much better in this film due to it seeming to draw inspiration from period political cartoons to the creation of the character designs
I cry easily during movies, but I was stone faced the entire time and didn’t even get emotional or feel happy by the end. That’s a huge problem for a A Christmas Carol adaptation
This is easily the weakest of the Disney Christmas Carol adaptations in my opinion. Lacks the heart of Muppet Christmas Carol and Mickey's Christmas Carol!
TBH just stick Mickey's christmas carol if you want to see a disney adaption of a christmas carol that is actually good. And if you want to watch a good hyperrealistic adaption of a christmas carol, just watch the 50s movie or The Muppet's Christmas Carol! The hyperrealistic style will look less creepier in live action, so they will look more apealling and not creepy.
I think what doesn’t help Jim Carrey in this film is he’s surrounded by actors who’re more suitable for Scrooge like Colin firth, Gary Oldman, or the late bob hoskins.

This movie. You ca tell that they were really trying. But the execution is just weird. The animation looks more outdated each year.
