- Join Shawn & Charlotte as we continue our road trip with a visit to Efteling in The Netherlands. We return to this beautiful park during the 2019 summer event to check out all of the extra entertainment on offer throughout the different themed areas. Along with that we share on ride POV's from all of our favourite rides at the park including Symbolica, Baron 1898, Fata Morgana and many more wonderful attractions.
In this action packed vlog we also take our last ever ride on Bob before it closes to make way for a new roller coaster opening in 2020. We also share highlights from the Efteling Summer Parade, Raveleijn and Aquanura. All of this and much more as we enjoy an action packed day of fun and magic at one of our favourite theme parks in the world.

The story of villa volta is about this Leader of a gang of bandits called the bokkenrijders( goat riders) who robs an abbey in belgium and gets cursed by a spirit. The curse entails that he'll never be able to find peace unless someone with a pure soul enters his house. so he just loads his living room full with people to hopefully get someone in there that isn't atleast 1% scummy
So far, they haven't found anyone who isn't at least 1% scummy though. Your comment made me laugh, great recap of the story.

Vogelrok is the most underrated rollercoaster in the world. The atmosphere and the storytelling on the rollercoaster is amazing. And the music.❤ Its still my #1 coaster even after riding bigger coasters like Untamed. Vogelrok always owns a special place in my heart. I rode it 44 times once nonstop.
And i got a year pass on the Efteling and i come every week to the efteling because its my favorite park ever and i live like 30 minutes away from it.
My favorite season of an Efteling year is the Winterefteling so you can ride the the rides nonstop because its so quiet midweeks. And when it becomes dark its the most beautiful park because of the winter theming and lights etc. I also like to ride the coasters in the dark. Marathoned baron/jedd for a hour in the dark. I really recommend going to the Winterefteling again.
My least favorite season is the summer because then there are alot of school trips and the park becomes overcrowded really fast.
Also the dutch coaster enthousiasts call marathoning 'kwanten'. A person named 'nico kwant' did 6000+ rides on Vogelrok in a year.
I personally think that the stroytelling is weak tbh. There is so much potential though. I would love to see a major refurbishment for the Queue line and at the lifthill & end of the ride
@@Rumirumi_ When did you ride it? The theming has been upgraded last year. Epecially on the end of the ride. There's a really big sky of stars shining now on the end of the ride.
Vogelrok is one of my favorite too. It is fast but you still see a lot. The music is amazing one of the best in my opinion.

Droomvlucht is the one I always remember from my childhood. We did 10 rides of that when we were in Holland in June. I do love symbolica (and we did multiple rides there too) but droomvlucht will always be the best darkride for me. I spot something new every ride.

Oh great, you guys managed to find the Diorama. Such a nice little hidden gem of the park that is so easily overlooked. For me thats the best thing about the Efteling.... all these little area's with so much work put in them and such a history behind them, thats just something money cant buy, only love, craftmanship and respect for the tradition.
The giant whale animatronic scene in Symbolica is exactly what Universal should’ve done in the Jurassic World ride. Great vlog 👍

Seeing these European parks after all the bland American ones is such a delight. Efteling looks amazing. Very tempted to visit. Need to figure out how I can get over.
It's 1,5 hours by train and bus from Schiphol Airport, Eindhoven Airport is even closer. Very easy to get to.

Just got back from here this morning. Stayed in Kaatsheuvel for 4 days and visited Efteling for 3 of those. Absolutely loved it. Never been before unlike my girlfriend who's been many times. Already planning on returning in February 2021
Efteling never fails to impress, from its great staff to the attractions, maybe one day I will get myself to Europe again and see it in person, great vlog

Hi Shawn! The mist at The Flying Dutchman wasn't working because of the humidity in the building. If the mist is working, with really high temperatures, the humidity would get too high.

I took our family to Eftling for the first time this year after watching your vlogs. We all loved it so much. So much for all the family to do and even the kids appreciated the beautiful theming and music everywhere. We are planning to go back again next year along with doing some other Netherlands theme parks!

Efteling is a fantastic Park one of the best , Bob will be sadly missed , beautiful dark rides it is an enchanting place for young and old . Lovely vlog thank you Shawn and Charlotte . :-)
Yea I first went to Efteling when I was 4 years old- in summer of 1985, So glad I didn't first go there at 1 or wouldn't of remembered anything lol
I don't remember what the first ride I went on was but I remember it was either: Bob, Carnival Festival, or Classic Car Ride will have to ask my dad
I remember going on them 3 rides over and over again and then went to: The Fairytale Forest and then went for something to eat and had chicken nuggets and chips :-)
I then remember we went on Spookslot which scared me I remember crying half way through and remember wanting to go on Python but I wasn't allowed as I was too small among other memories of my first trip there lol
Such a shame about Bob-But as they have asked for more planning permission for more acres they could re-build it again-Really big fan here from the UK in England

@@mikekaraoke Hi , yes all the rides are delightful both my children and grandchildren have had happy days in the park and also loved Bob , hope the new ride is as good i will be happy to take the grandchildren so they can have memories to pass on . :-)
@@celestine811 Yes they are indeed-Have many photos and video camera footage of the Efteling while on holiday with my family and our friends in the 80's + 90's etc -Such a shame now that all videos are done via a phone-Video Cameras were great!

Yea the new ride is Max + Mortiz right the duel spinning coaster which is going to be done by Mack Rides love them
What decade did you start going to Efteling??
Like I said they have already applied for planning permission for more acres which is on hold at the mo due to the people that live across the road from the park-But if approved surly they can re-build the Bob
At least they are keping the queue station and lift hill from Bob for the new ride :-)
@@mikekaraoke Hello , I first came across the Park in the early 80s it had such charm even then and the children loved it ! Didn't know they intended to get more land that maybe suitable for Bob to have a new home that's great news ! hopefully the people living across the road will be offered free rides all year round that might get planning permission sooner lol not sure about a spinning coaster have to see that first before i pass judgement lol . I am from the UK but have been lucky enough to have seen many lands . ;-)

No they have asked for more land for a whole new themed area and other rides-I'm just saying if planning permission goes through they could re-build Bob either Intamin could do it again or MACK Rides could do it etc

You see.. Efteling is all about making a magical experience for children, by making fairytales coming to life. Dutch children are growing up with the park because of school trips visiting the Efteling. It is part of their culture. A place that's so unique. The fairytale forrest for example has got some frightening characters like the dragon and spookslot. Those made a big impression (for me and my friends they did) and will always be remembered. When growing older python is the next test for children to prove everyone that they're not afraid of anything. Eventually we as dutch realise the beauty and significance Efteling has had in our lives. That's why we appreciate that Efteling stays true to its fairytale theme. Big coasters... I'm convinced they can, think baron 1898 in big, it will bring more international visitors. Efteling and I would love to see that. Efteling without a big coaster, it is still ranked by so many all around the world as the best THEME park.. The people of the Netherlands will always be able to share their childhood memories with their children visiting this park. I hope that (young vloggers)people reading my comment realise that it's about the magical Efteling experience and not just about the thrill..

First visited this park in 1997 on a school trip to Holland and I can remember being blown away by the place (got old creds on the original python and Pegasus) . Had my second visit 22 years later about 3 weeks ago and it made me feel like a 12 year old boy again, what a place, love Baron, Symbolica is just another level. The only thing is I wish Is I understood Dutch, long preshow for VillaVolta when you cant understand it lol. Will be definitely be visiting again, Toverland next tho!!

The funny thing is that I was there on the same day as you were there, I waved at you with my friend from Baron 1898 when me and my friend were hanging there, unfortunately I didn't get to speak with you but atleast I saw you enjoying the theme park. The really hot weather was unbearable tho.

It's interesting how much difference temperature can make.
I was a bit surprised you didn't like Joris all that much last time, especially since a lot of people think it's a really solid GCI.
But last time it was winter and today it was in the heat of summer. Glad to see you enjoyed it!
Same with baron, I found that helix pretty intense when I rode it. I really felt pushed down in my seat from the G-force.
Really interesting that your experience is so different this time with the change in temperature!
I love watching other people enter this park because my entire family and myself find this park so magical and amazing. All the rides and the scenery and location are amazing. But Yh it is more of a two day park because just one day you have to rush around to get on all the ones you want to and with queue times yes it is a long day. I recommend if you ever get the chance to stay in the hotel or bosrijk or loonsche land. I’ve only ever stayed in bosrijk but it’s just rlly nice to stay there aswell as go to the park.

Did Baron 1898 last year after going to the Efteling after almost 9 years i think. Was really impressed with the pre and onboard show. I had to wait almost 1,5 hours for it in the blistering heat but still a good coaster. I'm trying to go there saturday for some last rides on the bobbaan. It was my first ever "rollercoaster" so it has some sentiment to it. And about Carnaval festival. It wansn't really about keeping up with the times but more with people moaning and crying about some scenes being racist. It has been like that for 3 decades and all of a sudden it's racist.

We went to Efteling 2018 and found vogelrock really painful to ride -very jolty and uncomfortable , we love indoor coasters and have been to parks all over the world but that wasn’t nice and music way too overpowering, however Efteling’s dark rides are amazing and it’s our favourite park with kids hands down .

It always makes me so happy to see people from outside the Netherlands enjoy the Efteling so much. I loved both of your enthusiasm, great video! One of my favorite rides will always be Villa Volta, but I agree with you that the pre-show is very outdated and lengthy, though I have faith in the Efteling that they'll pick it up one day and give it the upgrade it deserves. I grew up on stories of the buck riders, my birth town was heavily raided by one of the seven big buck rider gangs between 1749 and 1751. There's a lot of dark history surrounding the buck riders, I always thought it was fascinating.

Went to the park about a week later than this vlog and the mist effect was working again in the flying Dutchman and there was a lot of water up the lift hill

Sad to see the Bob go, it's the only coaster my mom dared to ride for some reason. I took my parents to Efteling last year because I had discounted tickets with my annual pass. They hadn't been there for nearly a decade and we rode Bob all together again. That was the last my last ride before Bob will close, so I'm very glad my last memory of that coaster is riding it together with my family, just like we did when I was little.
Man this looks like one of the coolest parks I've ever seen. Hope to make it someday

I still remember the first time you visited the Efteling and you didn't like it, haha! Now you even have a Pardoes puppet :p We always stay on site, where free parking at Loonsche Land and Bosrijk is included and when people come visit me, I let them in using the accommodation pass! Like you said: it's a themepark to visit for more than one day... Bob was indeed built by Intamin, where Walter Bolliger was supervisor at the time ;-)
My love for the park really has grown so much!
@@ThemeParkWorldwide I was born in the South of The Netherlands, so a lot of (school)trips contained the Efteling! I even lived near Sevenum for 3 years, but this was more than 14 years before Toverland was even built! (I know... I'm getting old, haha) I am going to wait visiting Toverland, until they build their Toverland Hotel, which is going to make a multi day visit much cheaper...

It is amazing how you guys have pioneered the concept of a long vlog before you guys became known on RUclips all vlogs were 10 minutes tops and now thanks to you guys they are 20,30 ,40 minutes long and it's accepted

Pardoes was actually in the parade! He sat in the back of the little golf golden cart in the beginning, but he sat on the opposite site of the cart, if you look carefully, you can see him next to his girlfriend Pardijntje (who was on your side of the parade route) :)

I feel so nostalgic with that bobsleigh ride (can barely remember it itself, but it was part of my childhood), such a shame it's gone. But I get why.
So is the old wooden coaster, but it was painful to ride last time I was there.
