I' m sorry my friend but the original "Pa amb tomaquet" is Catalan, Not Spanish, and we Catalans scratch the tomato directly on the slice of bread. In your example, first scrach the garlic and after, the tomato, and it can be done with toast bread or not(with garlic only with toast). In fact when it is toast we call it "Torrada amb tomaca" or with garlic "Torrada amb all i tomaca".
The "Pa amb tomaca" is with no toast bread.
Remember: Scrach the tomato directly on the slice, try it, because the taste is different.
So true. I went to Barcelona 2 years ago and I had the chance to taste Pa amb tomatoes several time and I'm doing this delicious dish on a regular basis. From Montréal. Merci.

2º El pan con tomate es un invento murciano / 2º Bread with tomato is a Murcian invention
What on earth is this? Pan con tomate or Pa amb Tomaquet in Catalan. Old bread, garlic rubbed on the bread first, ripe tomato rubbed directly on the bread (none of this grated rubbish), olive oil and salt. Sorted.
Open a tin of tomatoes it's a lot easier and better
