These are super little engines Julia. Mrs Nobby is getting the Ellie book for me at Christmas. It will probably take till then to complete the PM engine 😊 Cheers Nobby
They are a great little loco Nobby 😀 if you make the lay shaft version the drawings are okay l. But if you make the original version there is a mistake in the position of the motor on the base plate. Message me for details 😄
Hi Julia, I ve misplaced my Ellie ok. Grateful if you could tell me the length of the piston rod? I made an end cap but I now cannot get the crank to do right round as it keeps jamming. In the process I damaged my piston rod. Two steps forward , three steps back !
Hiya oh dear that's not good 😕 I made the 5mm portion of the piston rod 30mm which involved removing some material from the bottom of the piston. I also had to chamfer the end cap as it just touches the crank web at bottom dead centre. How thick did you make the end cap?
That runs really well. Great to see it running round the track like that.
Thanks Stuart 🙂 it's a fun loco to run
Beautiful little loco
Thanks 😄 wait until it gets it's bodywork 😊
Thanks Julia. Inspirational!
You're welcome 😊
Your videos are excellent inspiration for someone aspiring to learn how to do this! Time to look into buying a lathe me thinks
Sounds great 😃 make sure you get some tuition if you can.

Interesting Julia👍👍👍👍
Runs like a train😄😄😄😄
see you next time
Kev
It's a great little runner this one Kev 😄
Looks like there'll be plenty of space to put a driver in.👍That's not always the case....
@@Jasper_4444 yes lots of room for a driver ☺️
@@julias-shed .... driver and apprentice? 🙂
@@Jasper_4444 🤣
Thanks Julia. I think I will put an end cap on mine which still doesn’t run very well! I ve left it alone for months …..
Thanks for your message ☺️ it's quite an easy mod to do and will stop the piston rocking in the cylinder bore.
It's one of those things, once you've seen it, it's hard to imagine someone doing without one.

Did you put a small hole in the end cap to stop it getting hydro lock
The end cap hole is drilled with a 5.1mm drill for a 5mm Shaft so it's a quite a sloppy fit. 😄
