As crazy as it sounds, the best and worst thing about Darby Allin is that he seems to feel like the fans don't get their money's worth unless he nearly dies. He's had some incredible matches and some amazing moments, but he's a ticking time bomb. I think he feels the same way Mick Foley felt for a majority of Mick's career. Luckily for Foley, someone (probably Vince) finally convinced him that he's got enough talent and charisma to not be risking his life every time he steps inside a wrestling ring, and then Mick went on to make more money pulling a smelly sock out of his tights than he ever did wrestling with barb wire and getting set on fire. Someone needs to remind Darby that the flame that burns twice as bright burns half as long.

To add to Darby Allins character you make him begin to care about what happens to himself. You have a heel come out and cut a promo trying to save Darby from himself. You can have the heel say something about having a family or just being able to WALK away from the business. Darby obviously ignores the wise words and over a couple of months becomes a little fearful of what will happen to his body. He can add to his move set and evolve as a character at the same time.

The most baffling thing about this whole card for me is the AEW fans acting like Lana showing up is some huge deal. Like she actually means anything or will draw any money. She's nice to look at, but as far as anything else wrestling wise, she is just mediocre. She can't wrestle, she's at best okay on the mic and, if her time in WWE is any indicator, she is a heat magnet. But there were fans gushing over how amazing it is that Lana is finally in AEW. She's just another hot blonde in a company with like 3 or 4 other interchangeable hot blondes already.
Was an even a month ago that they passed a set of role, saying no more power drivers of any kind. An hour, everybody's doing tombstones left , right and center?
The funny thing about going for an "MMA style badass finish" where they're in a hold forever - that's entirely different from MMA. Most times, the instant an armbar or choke is sinched in, they'll immediately tap if they know they can't escape. Some will "hold strong" and force a ref stop rather than tap. And being in a hold and screaming? Nope. In MMA, if I slap a heel hook on and you scream out - it's stopped immediately as a verbal tapout, if the ref does his job. So these badass MMA finishes are coming from a movie theatre near you rather than the UFC
False finishes only work when they're done at the right time. When they're done 10-15 times a match, it kills the match. But AEW fans are easily entertained, so it doesn't really matter. They'll cheer for anything.
Seems like they are all out of ideas, using an old "beef" from nearly 4 years ago to justify his current beef with Samoa Joe. The issue I have with AEW is most matches/feuds seem to have little to no building behind the fight. They just bump into each other, maybe do one promo each, fight then go their separate ways. MJF is running out of guys to feud with and he hasn't even started his babyface run yet. They need to change it up in my opinion, but I know very little about the business so I could be wrong, it just feels that way.
You are so correct.. The biggest problem with AEW is that they did 90 percent of their matches in the first 2.5 years. Outside of maybe Swerve vs MJF, and I don’t wanna see Orange Asshole be MJF. So it’s limited.

The neck injury is important. Because if/when Adam Cole (who caused the injury) turns, he can attack the neck to be extra cunty. It's a good angle as long as it plays out. Although the amount of new merchandise they seem to be bringing out suggests it won't end soon.
AEW's worst enemy has been, is and will always will be Tony Khan. He puts performers in the position of being "VP's" which creates a conflict of interest, he hires alot of indie performers who simply arent ready(and may never will be?)to carry a company or be put in a top spot, he undercuts the few people that are/were in the company that actually bring in money, he's letting the one legit star, now that Punk is gone, in MJF die on the vine and has no idea how to book. And that's just a few of the problems he's created. Waste of Daddy's money. AEW's problems were there well before CM Punk signed on and will be present even with him gone. I'm just waiting to see who Khan, the so-called elite and Meltzer will blame now for the company's F Up's now that he's is no longer there? Punk's better off without AEW.

Kinda surprised Jim and Brian didn’t enjoy this ppv more. By no means was it perfect, but it was largely one of the most serious and straight forward/no bullshit ppv’s AEW has put on. No CM Punk definitely sucked, but after that whole situation a show like this was exactly what AEW needed. Not a lot of gimmicks, but instead just putting on strong matches. And for the most part, they delivered on that IMO.
It's too bad the crowd in Chicago didn't hijack the show with CM Punk chants throughout the night. It would have been like the Great American Bash in 1991 when people kept chanting, "We want Flair" the whole night after he was canned by Jim Herd and left with the belt.

Collision was a great show. while dynamite has progressively gotten worse. The thing is punk has worked week to week television for a long time and he listened to the vets he has experience!! The bucks have never taken advice from the vets and prior to aew they have never worked a week to week live television show consistently they dont have the experience on how to write a week to week wrestling show or how to run a wrestling company and neither does Tony khan its really starting to show just how important cody was to aew. Just about everything that he was in was top notch!!
I will give one thing to the Elite: they’re clearly loyal to each other no matter what. Among Punk’s biggest weaknesses in this drama, he was never good at making and maintaining close friendships, and as much as plenty of people in AEW did respect him and listen to his advice, they weren’t that loyal to the point of sticking with him. A good life lesson for why having friends is important, and it’s not healthy to burn bridges every time you don’t get along.
Tony Khan is a terrible booker I mean who books the Trios titles to be defended in a random pointless match the night before supposedly a big PPV defence thou equally pointlessly booked but in the end just shows he is clueless but then he regularly just books title matches for no reason just for the hell of it... Tony Khans booking is just someones who had the old WWE games where he has created all the wrestlers he can and just randomly books matches he wants to see regardless of any reasoning for them to take place... Someone needs to tell Tony Khan that all these pointless defences don't make his champions look strong and doesn't give his titles any prestige or credibility...
By the time MJF has finished up with his contract he’d have pretty much gone through the whole roster. And there really is nothing for him to achieve. Wembley is as good as it gets for him in that company. There’s not much else he can achieve or do for the company.
I'm not really into wrestling anymore, though I read a few things online. Decided to pirate this PPV, or the second half of it anyway. This is genuinely the second time I've sat down and watched anything AEW related. I really enjoyed the Omega match. Yeah, full of high spots, but at least it looked like they were going at it, and Takeshita was really laying it into him, which looked great. The 8 man tag was just a clusterfuck with bad camerawork. Young Bucks are boring and contrived, and the match in general was chaotic in a bad way. I don't "get" Orange Cassidy. He looks like some dude they pulled off the street, and his gimmick is apparently that he's boring? At least Lance Storm had funny dance moves. I don't give a shit about Moxley, he looks like a schlub these days, but Cassidy just looked weak the entire match, and that kick flurry thing looked terrible. And what's with all the singalong entrance music. It's so hokey. Some kind of Reddit mark shit?

Like I keep saying, when Twinkletoes is away from the other members of the Getalong Gang, he's pretty darn good in ring. He likes the really long, try to tell a story, type of matches.
Lambast me all you want, but, I bet he could've had incredible long, drawn out matches with the likes of Flair, Steamboat etc back in the day.
Not with his current style, he would have been brutalized. But if he cut out a lot of the nonsense, then maybe.
You're not wrong. Seeing Omega go at it against Osprey at Wrestle Kingdom 17 and in AEW is like night and day. If only Omega worked just like in Japan here at home I would have cared a little more for him and his work.

The most baffling thing about this whole card for me is the AEW fans acting like Lana showing up is some huge deal. Like she actually means anything or will draw any money.
She's nice to look at, but as far as anything else wrestling wise, she is just mediocre. She can't wrestle, she's at best okay on the mic and, if her time in WWE is any indicator, she is a heat magnet. But there were fans gushing over how amazing it is that Lana is finally in AEW. She's just another hot blonde in a company with like 3 or 4 other interchangeable hot blondes already.
CJ's ring name should be Lana backwards, as a knock on WWE. "Get ready for ana...oh, yeah. Never mind.

The funny thing about going for an "MMA style badass finish" where they're in a hold forever - that's entirely different from MMA. Most times, the instant an armbar or choke is sinched in, they'll immediately tap if they know they can't escape. Some will "hold strong" and force a ref stop rather than tap. And being in a hold and screaming? Nope. In MMA, if I slap a heel hook on and you scream out - it's stopped immediately as a verbal tapout, if the ref does his job.
So these badass MMA finishes are coming from a movie theatre near you rather than the UFC

False finishes only work when they're done at the right time. When they're done 10-15 times a match, it kills the match.
But AEW fans are easily entertained, so it doesn't really matter. They'll cheer for anything.

Seems like they are all out of ideas, using an old "beef" from nearly 4 years ago to justify his current beef with Samoa Joe. The issue I have with AEW is most matches/feuds seem to have little to no building behind the fight. They just bump into each other, maybe do one promo each, fight then go their separate ways. MJF is running out of guys to feud with and he hasn't even started his babyface run yet. They need to change it up in my opinion, but I know very little about the business so I could be wrong, it just feels that way.
You are so correct.. The biggest problem with AEW is that they did 90 percent of their matches in the first 2.5 years. Outside of maybe Swerve vs MJF, and I don’t wanna see Orange Asshole be MJF. So it’s limited.
They use WWE lore and segments to promote AEW continuity.

Cole was red hot when he left. They can keep breaking the fourth wall but after a while it loses it’s aurora. AEW will cancel collision within the next year and they will be back to 2 programs. I went to a TNA show back in like 2006. There were more people on the card than in the crowd.
I had a dream Cash Wheeler, Big Bill, and the Young Bucks in an 8 man tag team called Money Gang vs the Don Phallus Phamily.
I don't remember hearing that Adam or Kenny did a victory lap after punk was fired. Wonder why these guys don't get the shit on them? Thats why.
The only enjoyment I get from AEW is hearing Corny pick them apart. However, its getting to a point where I don't even want to hear about this promotion.

Has been since the first few months of aew. Sam repetitive bad crap for 4 straight years.
The neck injury is important. Because if/when Adam Cole (who caused the injury) turns, he can attack the neck to be extra cunty. It's a good angle as long as it plays out. Although the amount of new merchandise they seem to be bringing out suggests it won't end soon.
AEW's worst enemy has been, is and will always will be Tony Khan. He puts performers in the position of being "VP's" which creates a conflict of interest, he hires alot of indie performers who simply arent ready(and may never will be?)to carry a company or be put in a top spot, he undercuts the few people that are/were in the company that actually bring in money, he's letting the one legit star, now that Punk is gone, in MJF die on the vine and has no idea how to book. And that's just a few of the problems he's created. Waste of Daddy's money. AEW's problems were there well before CM Punk signed on and will be present even with him gone. I'm just waiting to see who Khan, the so-called elite and Meltzer will blame now for the company's F Up's now that he's is no longer there? Punk's better off without AEW.
How long before AEW folds....that's really my only question now. It really bums me out. So much promise not that long ago.
@joshgeiger8942 I totally hear you! I was really excited when they came on the scene and was totally hopeful that they would be a positive alternative to WWE. I think competition can give way to some great programming but they seem to be fumbling the ball more often than not. How long they last lies in the ratings and Tony Khan's Dad's willingness to keep pumping money into a subpar investment. All I know is I'm done with them!

Kinda surprised Jim and Brian didn’t enjoy this ppv more. By no means was it perfect, but it was largely one of the most serious and straight forward/no bullshit ppv’s AEW has put on. No CM Punk definitely sucked, but after that whole situation a show like this was exactly what AEW needed. Not a lot of gimmicks, but instead just putting on strong matches. And for the most part, they delivered on that IMO.

Collision was a great show. while dynamite has progressively gotten worse. The thing is punk has worked week to week television for a long time and he listened to the vets he has experience!! The bucks have never taken advice from the vets and prior to aew they have never worked a week to week live television show consistently they dont have the experience on how to write a week to week wrestling show or how to run a wrestling company and neither does Tony khan its really starting to show just how important cody was to aew. Just about everything that he was in was top notch!!

I will give one thing to the Elite: they’re clearly loyal to each other no matter what.
Among Punk’s biggest weaknesses in this drama, he was never good at making and maintaining close friendships, and as much as plenty of people in AEW did respect him and listen to his advice, they weren’t that loyal to the point of sticking with him.
A good life lesson for why having friends is important, and it’s not healthy to burn bridges every time you don’t get along.
Tony Khan is a terrible booker I mean who books the Trios titles to be defended in a random pointless match the night before supposedly a big PPV defence thou equally pointlessly booked but in the end just shows he is clueless but then he regularly just books title matches for no reason just for the hell of it... Tony Khans booking is just someones who had the old WWE games where he has created all the wrestlers he can and just randomly books matches he wants to see regardless of any reasoning for them to take place... Someone needs to tell Tony Khan that all these pointless defences don't make his champions look strong and doesn't give his titles any prestige or credibility...
Pockets got a standing ovation, so yeah I think Chicago will forgive him.
All in should be in January and All Out should be in December if they did stuff that made sense

By the time MJF has finished up with his contract he’d have pretty much gone through the whole roster. And there really is nothing for him to achieve. Wembley is as good as it gets for him in that company. There’s not much else he can achieve or do for the company.

I'm not really into wrestling anymore, though I read a few things online. Decided to pirate this PPV, or the second half of it anyway. This is genuinely the second time I've sat down and watched anything AEW related.
I really enjoyed the Omega match. Yeah, full of high spots, but at least it looked like they were going at it, and Takeshita was really laying it into him, which looked great.
The 8 man tag was just a clusterfuck with bad camerawork. Young Bucks are boring and contrived, and the match in general was chaotic in a bad way.
I don't "get" Orange Cassidy. He looks like some dude they pulled off the street, and his gimmick is apparently that he's boring? At least Lance Storm had funny dance moves. I don't give a shit about Moxley, he looks like a schlub these days, but Cassidy just looked weak the entire match, and that kick flurry thing looked terrible.
And what's with all the singalong entrance music. It's so hokey. Some kind of Reddit mark shit?
For me, i can't go back to wwe. Way to boring and stale! Atleast AEW has more of that attitude era vibe to it
