A oyster can take years to form a ideal pearl. The workers have to be payed at the farm. The supplies for the farm. The factory workers have to be payed. The export costs for sending them from Japan (if they are sent from Japan). Then they actually have to make a profit.

Best video about sourcing pearls on RUclips. I have watched others to compare. This one explains the entire process clear and concise. However, it is Spring 2023 and I don't see this company still doing business?

Is that looks very interesting, and looks fun to just experience it. The pearls are absolutely beautiful, and my favorite part is that you guys absolutely waste nothing. Not a lot of people care that much. If I ever in my entire life buy any type of pearl for myself or one of my daughters I am definitely buying them from the Pearl outlet.

    I have 2 questions:
    1) Is there a standard ratio between the radius of the nucleus bead and the thickness of the nacre? In another word, how do I know how much "real pearl material" I am buying?
    2) Why don't farmers put in gigantic beads to get gigantic cultured pearls?

What a difference with Chinese and Japanese pearl workers. The Japanese are so clean and more care in watching the pearls whereas the Chinese are just dirty and messy. Japanese pearls for me anytime/

You obviously have never come to a proper pearl place in China. I used to live in Shanghai and travelled near by city. Don’t remember the name of the town but they do commercial farmed pearl. The quality is tip top. You can actually find pearls that are up to 30mm in diameter. But of course they come with insane price. It can cost about $10000 easy

no, i think what you're looking at are sellers for different target markets. From this video, it seems the target market is for those who are more affluent and don't care about the price so much as to the quality.

So if you use farms like this to produce pearls, how is their value still high? Wouldn't this decrease their value since there are so many of them?

    • @arielbloch7914

The Happy Greek Farming the oysters is a long and labor extensive process, and they can only be harvested in the winter.

There seems to be so much pride taken in their jobs do to it well. But I have heard that the farming end of the production is falling due to the younger generation not being interested in taking up the family business so to speak. This would be such a shame if this is true. There is nothing wrong with keeping tradition and learning to make it work successfully.

That video is fake. The video we are commenting on is how real pearls are cultivated and harvested. I don't think the Geoduck is even capable of producing nacre.
