I’m in my 50’s, and I told her and every beautiful young lady that times are different today. It’s very dangerous to be beautiful because men feel entitled to you esp kangs, and your life could be in danger if you reject them. I once had a friend who, when others would compliment my fashion choices, she would try to redirect them to say something about her outfits too. This irked me to no end, not because I needed to be the prettiest girl in the room (I freely compliment other women), but because she wanted the pretty perks when it was obvious she did not value fashion in the same way I did and thus did not put in the effort. I love being pretty, but I have dealt with and still deal with creeps for as long as I can remember. It only got worse as an adult. But when I was in high school I always had my makeup done, I was in a sport so I was slim thick. I had multiple friends who would get angry with me when guys would give me attention but I never even wanted those men, or I would be called picky for rejecting men. Even now when I wear makeup which I don’t wear as much anymore people ask me who I’m dressing for, one man straight up said “why do you look so pretty? I've noticed how people want to police even my uterus. I constantly get asked if I have children and often met with judgement when I say no. It's not the fact that I'm 'getting older' and 'time is running out' that can really upset someone over the fact that I'm 29 and childfree. It's not that I don't have the capability to be a good mother (because pretty women can't possibly be good mothers or 'automatically' have reproductive challenges); I've realised it's my freedom (not being bound by a child or not being trapped by a father of a child), and having complete ownership over my time, money and space that makes them upset over the fact that I don't have children. It disproves the slut narrative (although some will swear that pretty women are always just aborting - which is a really sick and concerning belief) I get to decide the quality of life I want to live as I get older and can actually achieve it with no limitations, added to all the other privileges, and that makes people really upset. PS: I say this with the absolute respect and grace for all mother's and father's out there
