There's one things that's majorly wrong with this game. After this level with Zuba and Makunga, we never see them again. Alex said at the end of the level that he would be right back, but he never goes back. While in the movie, everything with Alex and his father turns all right and Makunga is defeated, we never see that in this game. So it's really disappointing that in the game, things are left in a bad place for Alex and his dad.
I think since the game is very light-hearted compared to the movie,it would be hard to implement Zuba and Makunga any further. Alex's plotline is the most dramatic in the film compared to Marty's subplot and Melman/Gloria/Moto Moto love triangle. Given that those plotlines are either cut off before they got serious (Marty's and Melman's) or ended quickly (the love triangle) half way into the game, Alex being left hanging was either an oversight or just plain left out
