What is the fan really cooling? If you had an AC inverter then it would make more sense. Also think about natural convection for cooling. Battery is also going to need some type of charge controller. Anyway, I want one!!!!
I could make the Wiring in the Lid a lot neater-so could you. That being said, I think you've done a FABULOUS job with this!!!!! I would DEFINITELY find some way to put an Inverter into the system.
I'm looking for something like this for some jungle I am homesteading ... humid and has a rainy season. Curious what inverter you would install theoretically. Personally probably some kind of fridge, a table / mitre saw (15 Amp?) would be my largest loads... though a shop vac(7.8 amp) , small compressor (12 amp) and a pressure washer (13 Amp) not all simultaneously of course ... no idea what start up draws would be.... is this even doable?
Good question, the inverter you choose depends on what you will/need to be running. Most 2000 watt inverters are good and can power most things and they do have an amp rating. You just have to pair your equipment with the correct wattage/amperage inverter. Startup amps are always higher so I am not sure of the peak amp draw your equipment pulls on startup.
This is 12V only? What power station are you comparing it to price-was that doesn't come with a built-in inverter, A/C charger and solar charge controller?
Right now its 12v, was rating the time off the dometic cfx3 w/ 1-1.5 AH draw. If i need an A/C inverter I have to hook it up manually to the battery, its not built into the box.
Hi! Can you power devices and charge from the solar panel at the same time with this setup? My panel generates bout 19v (open circuit) and I think 12-15v closed. Worried that I might fry the 12v usp ports without a controller. Thanks for making this video!
I have charged it and used it at the same time with no issues, it was with a wall charger though not a solar panel. I want to get panels soon since I am going to using it for a trailer. A charge controller should work no problem, I'll be adding one soon. Thanks!
@@so-caladv1179 so cool! I’m building a mini version of what you’re doing. It’s in a small pelican case I no longer use but doesn’t have room for a controller. My trickle charge panel ( 12v, 10w, .5A )supposedly has a built in controller so even though it generates 19v (open circuit) the manufacturer says it’s safe to plug into the car. So far it works great so I bought a second. Wondering tho if it’s safe to power a USB port like yours if plugged into a battery (closed circuit with resistance). What do you think?
How do you charge it? I saw you have a charging port, but it looked like it went straight to the battery. Do you have a solar charge controller or do you use a AC charger?
The attached port is a SAE port, so right now I just charge it with an AC charger. You can easily put a solar charger connection I just didn't because I don't have panels.

Very nice build👍
Thanks 👍

It gets hot in direct sunlight. Imagine 110 direct sunlight all day, the vent exhaust is hot! A inverter would definitely need it as well.

Do you make custom setups?
Yes I do! I just opened an Etsy shop for custom builds at soundfusionlabs.etsy.com
isn’t there a cheaper case from harbor freight you could use? apache equivalent?
Not with those exact dimensions

What size charger do you recommend? Is a 20 amp overkill?
Depends on how fast you need to charge it. I use a 5ah charger and leave it overnight.
How much would you charge to build me one? minus the battery and panel on the back. lol
Fully built only, $1250 with battery.
