    3M Duralock mushroomhead velcro. That way you can yank it off if needed. Great adhesive but on plastic I put a couple dabs of superglue. I upgraded my batt momitor to TBD after seeing your video on it. I did add a little voltmeter with dumb soc meter just to see at a quick glance.

    looks great. I know of a few 20 and 30 amp solar charge controllers that will fit inside, may need ferrite on wires , I do that to all by stuff . I put master switch on mine. still a very nice battery box. I could not find nice hi current switch either so just used power Worx disconnect switch. good over 100 amps. 73's

    Dual PD is a great idea. PD lets you go to 5v, 9v, 12v, 15v etc with a tiny controller usually built into a usb-c to dc cable.

    I'm clumsy, so I expect I'm going to break things. When I built my battery box I protected the back of my panel mounts witch some of the dark gray stiff packing foam. I worry about the batteries shifting and messing up my panel mount connections. Nice box!

    Very cool. I like this form factor even better than the ammo can style case. Nice work Mike!

    Sounds like you need to balance the ceiling fan or tape the pull chain that is clanging against the glass shade.

    The time and materials you had you can buy a redodo battery box. It's only100$ so it's easier and faster just to buy. Not everyone can build a box

    NB5Z- Regarding the plastic thickness, you might try starting from the back with a paddle bit to a depth of about 1/;8" then use your step from the other side. Size the paddle bit a little larger. This will give your a recess for the barbs on the switch base. Just a thought Mike. Thanks for the video.

    Awesome job on the box, would the LiTime 12v 100ah battery also fit in that box or is it too wide?

    What is that tiny solar charge controller? I’d like to use that on my 20Ah box.

    Do the switches and ports make it no longer water proof (or was it never)?

      It was waterproof until I started drilling holes in it.

    How long would the battery last with a mobile radio standard usage

    • @hamradiotube
      @hamradiotube  7 месяцев назад +1

      That's gonna depend on a lot of variables but assuming it's a 50 watt VHF mobile that draws ~0.5 amps on RX, it would last about 8 days just receiving. Can't really tell you more than that but obviously less when you start transmitting.

    Genasun charge controller? Or too expensive?

    • @hamradiotube
      @hamradiotube  7 месяцев назад

      No there not too expensive and they do work great, but they're only 10 amps.
