Ours just came back from the shop repainted but the hood is too high and crooked. If we weren't in Florida we would stop by. I'm heading out to the garage now. Thanks for the help.
If the hood has a metal under frame with a fiberglass top skin, you can bolt it directly on. If your hood is all fiberglass top & bottom your only choices are to use hood pins or return the hood for one that has the metal underside. The hoods with the metal underside fit much, much better too.
Thank you for the advice, however i DO have an all fiberglass hood and we just got out of paint. So.... i do have Pins but do i also install the Latch?
The problem we have run into is that the fiberglass is not strong enough to bolt the latch to & have it work properly. It tends to be at an odd angle not allowing the latch to fit the bottom striker support. I am assuming you fit the new hood to the fenders & headlamp extensions first before painting. We normally assemble the whole nose of the car & make the hood function with latch's & pins before we paint it as the hood and nose normally require a lot of body work to make it look & fit well.
Yes it has all (except the latch) been fit before paint (including the pins). However, i'm now concerned about attaching the latch straight to fiberglass. Can i epoxy a steel plate behind and too the fiberglass and go through that?
What we have done in the past is cut a portion of the metal support area from the old metal hood that came off the car. This way it has the proper bends in it. You may be able to slip it under the fiberglass & glue it in place
I have a truck hood that i took off to do engine swap and new fenders i cant get the darn thing to align for beans!! it will close but the back part of the hood toward the cab is up in the air. cant get it to lay flat. Any ideas?
what ever happened to doc chris? he started these how to' videos so long ago before everybody else and maybe hes just burnt out for doing it so long? we miss you doc chris, but its not as easy as you state to adjust the hood especially the hood hinges themselves, the re is so much play its hard to find the sweet spot when your starting from scratch during a restoration. this is one of the few videos that really didnt help me out

Hi there. I need your help for open the hood in my mustang 1967 . How to open if not cable ?
Just below the front edge of the hood is a flat lever you push to unlatch the hood.
Any suggestions on installing the Hood Latch on a new fiberglass hood for a 67 fastback?
