Giving you a thumbs up because its a great video. But you forgot to include Apple's new "screw your external monitors" feature..ever since I "upgraded" I haven't been able to successfully utilize a second monitor without both monitors freaking out. Maybe this is part of Apple's Intelligence smh

@@silent_spitfire There are millions of Mac users. A couple of people complaining on Reddit is something that happens all the time with every update. Don't assume it is a problem with the update. It could be something you have in common with those other people like an extension or set of settings that you all have. Or it could be specific to a cable, hub, or combination of screens. @@macmost it's definitely a perspective to take, I'm hoping to get an answer from Apple support. In writing, AI as a content creation tool is awful. You know, at the very least, that you did not put any original thought into it. For organizing, summarizing, and creating outlines however, AI is dope! I've only used Chat GPT (and hove never had the need to upgrade), and that experience has been excellent. We'll see how Apple does.
To "get the most from your Mac" it is always best to use built-in functionality when available, only going to third-party apps when there is no other way. This is a good example, as many people complain of that app using a lot of system resources compared to what you get in return.
As a low viz watcher, I find the screen recordings’ resolution too high and everything too small. Is such a high resolution really necessary? Also, Dark Mode would also be nice.
I actually do the opposite. I'm using lower resolution than almost anyone else on RUclips. It is the lowest you can go and still expect most apps on macOS to work. If you still can't see the elements clearly enough, you'll need to use RUclips's theater mode or full screen to make the video larger.
@@macmost what if I sign out of Apple ID and sign in US? Does that give me the iPhone mirroring and apple intelligence features. ? After I cancel my subscriptions
@@BrianGreenstone Maybe. But people seem to say that about every advance in technology. I'm optimistic that AI will be a new tool to help unleash our creativity.
The first example that hit me was sending two emails to others about meetings tomorrow. Immediately AI then popped up to “remind me” that I appear to have two meetings tomorrow. Such help I do not need. I also found similar problems in searching through mail. First Apple puts “Top hits” at the top. That is not part of AI. In this case, the thing I am searching for are a routine meeting reminder, then a slightly older email sent by a friend. In each case the “Top hits” are years old. Not just useless. Damagingly useless. Next, in each case AI tried helping and suggesting things that were equally useless. I tried using the AI features to make text more friendly, or more professional. Etc. In each case its suggestions were wrong, ranging from subtly wrong to wildly wrong. At that point I gave up and disabled it. I have the same problems with Siri. It routinely either is not able to understand what I want or gives useless answers, or worse - bad answers. So I have turned it off as well. My use case is different. I speak many technical jargons. Those are far beyond Siri or Apple Intelligences capabilities. Claude AI handles them generally well, but requires correcting and coaching. ChatGPT is uniformly bad at them. Pi is decent though overly conversational and technically incapable. It requires excessive coaching to get to reasonable uses. For my use cases AI’s other than Claude are much more trouble than they are worth.
Just to mention that the ai features are available on mac in Europe if you choose English us both for the system and siri. Not available yet on ipad and iphone. Rgds. Réginald

@@davidpatrick1813 I do some Apple Watch tutorials, but I try to keep the focus on Mac. Needing to charge your Apple Watch every night is pretty normal.
North East USA, apple intelligence is not available in my MacBook Pro M3 Max yet
It is available, you just need to wait on the waitlist for access. A few days, probably.
Cool!
8:12 I don't have this "edit" button - where I can find/enable it?
Are you looking at en individual photo, not an album or list of some kind? Is the photo a regular one in your library?
@@macmost yep - en individual picture, I have magic selection, but don't have "clean up" instruments. In "view options" I don't see it the same.
@@SlothHuntOnYou So is the problem that you can't find the Edit button, or that once you click Edit you don't see the Clean Up button. If the latter, then perhaps your Mac doesn't meet the requirements for it.
@@macmost I'm on m1 - and don't see "edit" button=(
@@SlothHuntOnYou OK. Sorry, I don't know why you aren't seeing it. If you look in the Image menu, do you see "Show Edit Tools?" It does the same thing.
Why can I only join a waitlist instead of turning on Apple Intelligence on M2 Macbook?
That's how they are rolling it out.
@@macmost Yup, I should have googled it. It was available to turn on after a couple hours of updating to 18.1.
ONe thing very different for me is that when I go to Applie Intelligence I only get an option to be on the waitlist for the Beta. Anyone else get this?
I meet all the specs and live in the US.
same for me
Yes, you have to get on the waitlist.
Yes, I got the same message. This is ridiculous. Come on Apple. This is not the way to get people excited and on board!
@@SFGiantsBweezy Remember that some of Apple Intelligence uses Apple's servers. Same with other AI companies. Just allowing server use to go up 10x or 100x on one day isn't something that will work. That's why Apple needs to let people in gradually. All of the other AI services did the same. New social media networks too. It is just how online services need to ramp up.
The „new“ iMacs are out too
Giving you a thumbs up because its a great video. But you forgot to include Apple's new "screw your external monitors" feature..ever since I "upgraded" I haven't been able to successfully utilize a second monitor without both monitors freaking out. Maybe this is part of Apple's Intelligence smh
I haven't heard about that. I use two screens myself. I would start troubleshooting it. Look at what else you have going on: cables, docks/hubs, etc. Call Apple Support.
@ I guess it’s been happening. Saw a couple of Reddit threads. It’s happening across different machines too (since the update). I’m going to call them tomorrow if I have time! I’ve been using one screen in the meanwhile and it blows haha
Don't ignore the fact that you have probably hundreds of thousands of others who have upgraded to 15.1 and are using multiple screens without a problem (like me). So work to figure it out.
@@macmost it's definitely a perspective to take, I'm hoping to get an answer from Apple support. The cables I'm using are standard cables directly plugged into my M2 Mac Mini..I don't see how it would be an issue with the hardware. The issues with the extended monitor only started after I updated to 15.1 and happened immediately upon startup after the update.
Most of these are not available for me just yet, I had to join the waitlist for Apple Intelligence. Such a disappointment.
It should be quick. A few days, maybe.
Well I just updated and there's no apple intelligence. It says "join the waitlist for apple intelligence beta" or something.
Right. You'll probably have it in a few days.
Sooooo, for European Users this update gives nothing, every feature is disabled! ahahaha
Works in Australia, you just need to set your language to English US version. Appreciate that might be frustrating for EU though
Change the language to US English at General » Language and Region. If it doesn't work, change the Region to USA as well.
If used correctly, it can be an excellent writing tool. For instance, brainstorming ideas, listing things to see if you forgot something, etc.
Gimmicky at its best
I'm in Germany and Summary etc doesn't work here on Notes, Mail, etc. Bummer. Even not in English content.
Right. Not in EU yet. Trouble with regulations.
Change the language to US English at General » Language and Region. If it doesn't work, change the Region to USA as well.
what's wrong in using Grammerly?
To "get the most from your Mac" it is always best to use built-in functionality when available, only going to third-party apps when there is no other way. This is a good example, as many people complain of that app using a lot of system resources compared to what you get in return.
🎉
What about India
Check Apple's site to see.
Once again....Only in the US
I think in a lot of countries. But maybe not yours?

As a low viz watcher, I find the screen recordings’ resolution too high and everything too small. Is such a high resolution really necessary? Also, Dark Mode would also be nice.
I actually do the opposite. I'm using lower resolution than almost anyone else on RUclips. It is the lowest you can go and still expect most apps on macOS to work. If you still can't see the elements clearly enough, you'll need to use RUclips's theater mode or full screen to make the video larger.
I think, Chat GPT works much better.
ChatGPT will be available in this starting with 15.2.
is it possible to do migration from old OS X EI Capitan (version10.11.6) to OS SEQUOIA 15.1 ?
Sure, it should work.
@@macmost Thank you, will try soon.
AI only in English.... No way. It will be Perplexity.
What is new and IRRITATING is you have to click 2 times and sometimes THRE times to wake up the screen.
Not seeing that. Try a restart, Apple Support.
@@macmost I have tried apple support. They explained it away. I updated my other iMac today and now IT requires two clicks to wake up.
You failed to explain that you have to deal with a "wait list." This is annoying as hell.
While having to deal with a waitlist to get AI is rather annoying you don’t have to wait too long.
You have the option of NOT joining. What wrong with you???.
Drag and drop images ? WTF are you kidding me
What do you mean? Do you like it, or do you have a problem with that feature?
@ seems as this feature is something that has been everywhere since the dawn of time why is drag and drop a new feature
You can do the same by copying the photo on your iPhone and pasting it onto your Mac (Universal Clipboard)
sick of being in europe. i have 0 new features for apple intelligence. iphone mirroring wont work at ALL
Right. Apple has commented on this extensively. EU regulations.
@@macmost what if I sign out of Apple ID and sign in US? Does that give me the iPhone mirroring and apple intelligence features. ? After I cancel my subscriptions

Apple Intelligence... Not in damn Europe!

What region?
After using each, windows for my business I much prefer the Mac OS. If your educated on its hierarchy it’s beautiful 🎉

Wow, the AI features are terrible. None of that looked efficient or helpful. Great video tho... probably because it wasn't AI generated.
Maybe you are already a decent writer then. There are a lot of people that could use these proofreading and rewriting tools.
@@macmost You're probably right, and in 10 years nobody is going to know how to do anything on their own because of this stuff.
@@BrianGreenstone Maybe. But people seem to say that about every advance in technology. I'm optimistic that AI will be a new tool to help unleash our creativity.
It's so half baked. Pretty disappointing!
Apple Intelligence is terrible. Like so many things of this type, it tends to return wrong or more often irrelevant or useless answers.
Answers? It doesn't do that yet. The tools are for proofreading and rewriting. So I'm not sure what you are referring to here.
Things like suggesting what is coming up, what is important …
@@tunneloflight Where do you mean? In what app and what situation. Give me some examples, I'd love to see it.
The first example that hit me was sending two emails to others about meetings tomorrow. Immediately AI then popped up to “remind me” that
I appear to have two meetings tomorrow.
Rgds. Réginald
