My name is Eric and I travel with my cats, “Tara” & “Opie” in a 24ft 2002 Ford Bigfoot Class C and tow either a 2014 Smart Car named “Tater Tot” or my 2012 Harley Softail Slim named “Black Betty” in a 6x10 trailer. We travel about 35 miles a day chasing 70 degrees year-round since 2010.

1. Keep two weeks of cash on hand.
2. Go to a BoA branch, you should be able to withdraw as much as you want.
3. Open a 2nd account at a different bank, with a card for that account. Then when BoA shuts you down, you can use your 2nd card.
4. Replace BoA, they do not meet your needs.

If you withdraw more then 10k they might make you schedule the withdrawal so they have cash on hand just depends on branch
I kept my BofA account open, and added a local credit union (Twinstar) here in Washington. I can transfer funds between them easily. Twinstar also reimburses you for all out of network ATM fees! 👍

Everyone's problems are different if your life is a little tougher it's easy to look in an think is this guy for real? Lol but that's one of the reasons why I watch him I'm glad there's people out there with some small problems and the means to live differently than others. the rest of us are constantly grinding pissed off all the time.

You have complained numerous times about BoA, so why haven't you switched? There are so many options available to people for banking. There are credit unions, online only banks, banks through auto insurance etc. So there should be no excuse for not being able to find another financial institution.

B of A likes to mess with people. They messed with me for 2yrs then I closed my account and went to a Credit Union. Screw banks. They suck!

I had a similar experience on a purchase with $150.00 groceries. I was so livid that after calling the bank and telling off the banker on the phone about the inconvenience they've caused me. I filed a complaint against my bank with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) & the BBB
This is a good lesson of why you should always have 2 banks accounts and Cash on hand for emergencies.

I travel for a living as a Pilot. I had BOFA for years and I was getting my card turned off every 3 months. I could not take it anymore and changed to a different more regional bank here in the south and have no issues since.

Purchase on a credit card with rewards points to avoid debt card issue. Just saying for a work around

As to B.O.A. or any other BIG national bank.....ditch them!!! We have been with a local credit union for years, NOT even in the state that we live anymore, and with computer banking and ATM's and still traveling the US it has not been a problem.
Why do you use only one bank? Get at least one account at another bank for emergency use.
I don’t think that’s the type of “plain white envelope” they’re referring to. That envelope has a BoA logo on it. I believe it will come literally in a solid white envelope with only a return address, and say nothing about BoA. Hope it all works out…soon
Erik, do you know there is a certified Cummins/Onan service Center up in Lake Havasu city. They did some work on my rig five years ago fixing circuit breakers and the AC and it is still going strong. One would think that your Cummins/Onan generator is still under warranty if it is new.
I had problems with Bank of America it had to be over 20 years ago, I stopped using them to say the least.
Love the new intro on the whole, my opinion is that it zoomed past (start to finish) too quickly. Slow it down just a bit, it is not a NASCAR Race…. lol

Switch banks. I had Bank of America on the road, too. I quickly learned to go online and tell them when.we moved to a different state/location. It was a pain in the neck, but it worked. Mostly.
I totally get your frustration. This is why I have multiple bank accounts and credit cards. Having several checking accounts is always good because you have a fail safe backup for scenarios like this.
We pulled all of our accounts from BOA moved to First Union, when Wells Fargo took over a few years later they pulled some of the same mess, we moved to the credit union Truliant, that we had as our alternate account throughout all the years for just our bills. Wonder when businesses will ever learn if you hidden fee us to death, and screw with us, we just move on.
I just checki the radar at 11:00 am EST. The ENTIRE Florida peninsula is covered by a storm. All the way down to Cuba.
I'm in the Tampa Bay are and its Bern raining here since yesterday pretty much nonstop. It's not a torrential downpour but continous.
Sorry to hear about your BoA experience. I use a credit union, and have since I was 14. A lot of the credit unions across the US now participate in shared branching where you can go to any credit union that participates. (since you travel this could be beneficial ) You would not be able to get a debit card from a shared branch location, however, you'd be able to withdraw funds from brick n mortar branch until you receive your new card. You should look into it, and like one viewer said don't keep all your eggs in one basket.

I was advised to find a new bank after a relative attended a major banking convention last year. Hint hint oh, wells fargo aint any better off.
Eric I think the bank probably said a blank white envelope not with their name on it! It sucks they shut your card down but if I remember correctly when we’ve had to have a card reissued it does not have the credit card company or bank name on it so people don’t steal the envelope with your card in it!! My bank did the same. Sent a letter to say thw card was cancelled. Three days later the unmarked card envelope showed up.
Banks are in trouble because the USD has been rejected world wide...we are no longer the financial leader. Protect your stock market....
NIce intro. I had a situation with my bank. I was in Florida and Hubby was home in KY. I used the card early one morning and then Hubby tried to use it a few hours later in KY. The Bank froze our account. He was able to use another card he carries. I called the Bank and they un-froze the card. I now let the Bank know when I will be traveling out of state. Works fine.
I understand your BA issues as I'm in a similar boat. I too lived by debit card as well. After the second time, I made sure that I had checks. I know it's old fashion, but they do still work. You may have to go to a bank to cash a check, but at least that should be closer.
After having a couple of painful banking experiences I will always have an account at an independent bank where I'm on a first name basis with at least one of the bankers. As it is now, I can have my banker on the phone within a couple of minutes no matter where I am in the world. Also, I will NEVER be dependent on just one bank. My experience is, it's not IF a bank will go lame, it's a question of WHEN they will go lame.

It will literally be a plain white envelope. It will not be marked with a Bank. You won't know who it's from. That's the way they all have done it forever.
Curious though, why haven't you added a second card when you've had this problem so many times?
New debit card will not have bank of America name on it, it will just have a return address.
Had these BOA problems several years ago and one representative said if you are traveling you can call before hand and let them know your route and they will make a note on your account and you will not have issues. It works and BOA have saved me from over 5K in erroneous charges without me having the account shut off.

We had the same banking experiences with many banks. We started doing business exclusively with credit unions (which are contractually 'not for profit, BTW), and we've had very few issues since that time. Best of luck. Love your videos. Keep up the good work.

I think some people in the comment section are pretty rude & ugly with their words. The intro is okay imo but I’m a person that doesn’t handle change well so if you’re happy! Then be happy.

I left bank of America over a similar thing then i called them they told me it was for my safety lucky I had a 2nd account i could use at another bank
I’m sorry about the BoA hassle, but to be fair, that was not a plain white envelope. Replacement cards are never sent in envelopes that clearly have the bank’s name visible. Hope you get your new card soon. I prefer the non animated intro.

If there is a way, please look into a credit union. They call us about a purchase that might seem odd per our previous purchases and confirm and get our ok before stopping the card. We've been with our CU for over 25 years and have never been disappointed.

Hey, Navy Fed Credit union. Credit unions are better put you main funds in that bank and they have an app to transfer to other banks plus mine works at lot of 7-11 . They don't charge the fees BOA does.

Eric you may want to add a Costco Citi card or a local bank's from you property in Solow. BofA actions are not surprising. The main thing have more than one option. Take care and be safe out there.

Always have accounts at more than one bank! Also always keep a cash stash. It's only regional ( WA OR ID CA NV UT) but Umpqua bank has never given me an issue traveling. They started that same kind of crap many years ago and I guess pissed off too many people and stopped doing it. They are part of ATM network outside those states and have great online services as well.

You've had issues with Bank of America for years, yet you continue to use them? Find a locally owned bank or credit union to use. It's 2024, every banking institution in the US has online banking, debit cards, and mobile banking options. Literally any convenience or service that BOA has, any local bank will offer. This one is on you. Grow up and take accountability for something already.
⚠️GO OLD SCHOOL AND WRITE CHECKS. If you dont have a checkbook get one for emergency situations like this.

We left BOA in the dust after having our mortgage with them for 15 years, we refinanced after 9 years and they were very difficult to work with. They would ask us why we wrote a $250. Check to someone! Really! After this and other major banks caused the 2008 crash by giving loans to fake names you question $250 from your customer of 9 years that never missed a payment! Their a joke. Went to WF for our next loan, couldn’t be happier with their customer service! We still do banking with them today. But we use 2 different banks. As others have said “don’t put your eggs in one basket “!
love those batteries. It has been many years and three changes of my 4 Costco GC2 battery bank. But the next rotation if a few years ( I get 4-5 years out of a set), I think I will go with one like your two. I don't need as much power, one will do the trick, and add a new charger/converter for lithium and the appropriate shunts and such to shield my alternator. So much better than checking and adding a bit of water every month.🤓

My parents had problems with BOA back in the 60"s, it was bank error..no debit cards then.

I have been with BOA for quite a while. Never had this problem but have had to get another card because of a valid unauthorised charge
I went through similar problems with a major bank in Canada years ago and got so frustrated I switched all my accounts to a different bank.
I personally like the nature intros better but that's just me. That stinks that bank of America is doing what they are to you. This gives me a heads up when I move to not go with them!
We had terrible experiences with BofA up to, and INCLUDING trying to close our accounts.

When we went we were told the we had to make an appointment with the branch manager, and that it would be at least an hour wait. Lots of BS. My wife eventually did it over the phone, but had to do lots of yelling and threats to call the Attorney General.
I had a much worse experience when I was purchasing a house with Bank of America, they kept blocking the transaction, and we spent hours on the phone, with useless employees that couldn't help me, like they transferred me to speak with a Zelle person, another employee was drunk, I am not joking, it was terrible experience

Bank of America screwed up my account so many times, in 1977 I changed to Wells Fargo and have had ZERO problems since. Whenever I had to deal with Bank of America since, they have always, ALWAYS given me headaches. I will not deal with them again, EVER! Like many have said, go with a credit union. I don't know anyone who didn't stop dealing with Bank of America in the 80s or 90s, they're the worst!! Side note, it took years for BOA to switch from hand written bank books to machine printing of bank books (remember those?) when completing transactions in branches;

Will you have the Onan generator pulled out to compensate for the weight gain for the batteries? I'm curious how RVers balance out the weight on both sides.

You might consider getting some Travelers checks to keep on hand for emergencies.

All banks are the same. They shut you down all the time even when you tell them you're traveling . I carry three different cred cards so i'm not left stranded on the road. When you fill up your fuel tank never use the same card twice . That will flag them to shut down the card.And they will not send a new card to your travel location only you permeate location.
We have been on the road for 4 years. We've had no problems with wells Fargo. They are all over the US.
Not a thing wrong with BoA at all easy for you to just go to another bank and good luck with that.

Not just BOA doing this crap, but even my local credit union doing the same. I was only 80 miles from home and they denied my $40 purchase and stopped my debit card. Really pissed me off! New intro not bad. Will get used to it.
