Its funny because to Brazilians, these guys were definitely like rebels, outsiders, different, weird. It's amazing to see these guys totally chill, laid back, themselves.
On that day when they were just a shocking news on Brazilian pop culture...... but these days they're part of Brazilian culture just like Brazilian jiu-jitsu... What an honor Brazilian have sepultura
Who's the interviewer? He's actually pretty good at it. He's not awkward, he's funny as hell, even his English pronunciations aren't bad. He knows his stuff, unlike these interviewers today we have.
+Howl E. Schitt You're welcome, man. His name is Jô Soares. I agree, he's really funny, nowadays he's not as good as he was in the past, but he is 77, so it is very understandable.
I love how the country and their mom embraced them even though “Society” see that kind of music as “ Crazy “ they encourage them and are proud of their success.. wish the rest of the world was more like that nowadays
The awkwardness of the interviewer’s questions about tattoos and long hair reflects well the culture of that time. What’s impressive is how progressive the band seemed to be: the idea that musicians can be “eccentric”, anti-fascism, calling out racism by that one German band, etc.
The interviewer, Jô Soares, became a friend of the band. So much so that the band thanks him in the Arise booklet. He is originally a comedian, and made fun of everyone he interviewed.
What an amazing interview. Not sure if you noticed, but Max didn't really like how Andreas tried to put less value to the lyrics, which is awful of course. Sepultura back in the day and now the Cavalera brothers still keep alive the feeling of great music along with strong lyrics, which is exactly what make them so unique.
What he means is that they started enjoying metal without understanding the lyrics, so of course the music is more important. You can enjoy music in a language you don't even understand.
I couldn't help but think that it should have been Max and Andreas switched around. However, we see Max seated near Soares in 1996 interview. To this day, I still can't believe the bad blood that developed in Sepultura and caused Max to leave the band. It gives me goosebumps just thinking about the breakup.
12:08 weird seeing them play and not headbanging and going crazy they look kind of nervous playing in front of people who probably don't listen to metal music
same, but sometimes portuguese speakers speak pretty fast so for me it’s sometimes hard to understand portuguese. although i can understand Portuguese text almost fluently
Nice work with the subtitles dude. I suggest you could put the link on this video's description. I'm actually portuguese but nonetheless thanks for the effort.

These guys aren’t weird, they are different from the mass which is good 🤘

it all happened cuz of Max girlfriend, nothing else matters.
Also, thank you for the subtitles.
They are so uncomfortable playing in front of a seated audience
12:08 weird seeing them play and not headbanging and going crazy they look kind of nervous playing in front of people who probably don't listen to metal music
The audience don't listen metal
Iggor is doing it 😁
Still listening 2020 . SEPULTURA 🤘🏻 ( original of course )
very interesting!!! thank you
You can see they feel uncomfortablr with the interviewer jokes, and specially max when the interviewer talked to their mother
They re protective, their dad left them early by heart attack when they had 9 and 8 years old.
Or its the italian blood.
Iggor
12:20 o baixo do Paulo tem bem alto, nunca reparo ele nessa faixa, agora soa melhor.

Oh Kisser wants the control badly here, not surprising, but speaks for the later split...
He's doing the same today with Derrick Green.
9:40 the band was Sodom
9:43 - German "very arrogant" band Max is rerring to was Sodom.
Sepultura vs Sodom on that tour.
No way, it can't be Sodom.
@@Mitchery yeah it was Sodom.Max talked about it in his book.Sodom's manager would try to sabotage their set everynight.
@@Mitchery It was.
Which German band were they talking about?
Sodom
@@tyranthate M-16 !!
which one was the band that mistreated them?
Sodom at Beneath World Tour that started in September 1989 in Germany and finished in December in Mexico.
thanks for your answer friend, i had never heard that story
But this short-minded attitude backfired, because the audience, many times, left after Sepultura played.
maybe sodom knew that sepultura were already a far superior band
@@andre80403i guess blackfire was not in the band anymore at that time, he left and joined kreator.
