    I’m so glad my mother told me to stfu when I was 13 and thought I was trans male, because 100% I am female that leans masc. And thats totally okay. Most teen girls are confused and go through that “i’m not like other girls”/“I’m different” phase but it’s purely puberty. It’s literally normal to feel uncomfortable with your body until you’re fully developed. Or even just in general with how society puts pressure on women. Of course there are trans teens that really are trans-but a lot of the time, its just girls being confused and uncomfortable and no-one is normalising that feeling for them. It’s so sad, and I really thank god my mother was like “you need to wait and figure out if you truly feel like that”.

      I feel this so much. I was living my life as a tomboy until I was like 15. In those 15 years of my life I have identified as a lesbian, trans male, "demigirl", bisexual and "genderfluid". I thought those things because of the internet, obviously; everyone would tell me "Oh, why be a lesbian when you can just change your gender!!! Being straight and "cis" is weird!". I was literally planning out how I would get top surgery as soon as I turn 18.. Weird stuff. Thankfully, just one year later, I have now understodd that there's more to sexuality than just hugs and kisses. I also came to realise that it's okay to be a little masculine or tomboyish. I feel like I kind of forced that "masculine" image on myself, anyway. I am literally nowhere near masculine or dominant now. I am also very happy that I have a very womanly body. I'm SO glad that my parents aren't some freaks that would let me start taking hormones or some crap.
      Honerable mention: Thanks for not letting me get a septum piercing either mom, that shi is UUUGLY (to me at least, I'm very feminine now), love you! XD

    "Amber's Closet" is dishonest about her answer to "I would date a transwoman". First of all she was very silent for most of it, when she first spoke she brought up sports, then she stumbled through her words "we'd make it work".
    On her IG (Nov 14, 2023), there's a post promoting her interview about lesbians dating bisexuals. Caption to that post below:
    "Yes, there are some Lesbians that LOVE BISEXUALS!!
    But at the same time, our experience is VERY different…
    Bisexuals…can y’all chime in here and tell us your side?! Please!
    And to the Lesbians out there…how do y’all feel about Bisexuals? And why?
    In the longer version I mention that I think most women are on a scale of bisexuality from curious to fluid to fully bisexual, but that there are ALOT of women like myself that are NOT EVEN CLOSE to being attracted to men, but that there’s only like 15-20% of us."
    Notice the last line...."women like myself that are NOT EVEN CLOSE to being attracted men..." , look what she made sure to capitalize.

    I love this video, speaking from a valid perspective without it shifting to trans or gendered topics. I know so many vids like this that go straight into gender and bashing trans people. This was refreshing and I feel the frustration because while I do like evolving and educating ourselves, growing into different kinds of people. Some of it can be ridiculous. I can understand a lot of things but not a non binary person being a "lesbian" for one. It just doesn't make sense to me. Anyone who identifies as a woman, yes, but if you're non binary, wouldn't you not want to be placed in a category that describes two women loving each other? I also don't like the people that are just done and want to "disband" the whole community because they aren't being reasonable either. You guys acknowledged the issues within the community but realized at the end of the day we do have problems daily outside of these debates and we all want the same thing, to live peaceful, safe lives.

      There are homophobes out there that would rather transition their child than have a child who will grow up to be gay or lesbian. Especially since stereotypes are inevitably created about every identity and then you’re choosing to place yourself into a very specific stereotype. Like if you announce that you’re nonbinary transgender lesbian (which I have heard before) people are going to immediately assume you’re so far left that no one can stand you. I'm a gay man and even in the Jubillee video they had for us the topic of trans men was brought up for no reason whatsoever. I believe things like that are really personal and up to the individual, and have next to nothing to do with a lesbian/gay "debate" or conversation. Like you two said, where were the questions about religion, conservative beliefs in regards to their sexuality, etc. Topics like those would've made for a much more relevant and engaging discussion on both sides.

      @@officialquantumhiveNo, in the gay Jubilee video they had a prompt asking whether or not the group would date a trans man. Why is that a question? Ultimately, that's up to the individual to decide. I don't think it should even *be* a topic to debate about, since it ultimately is a preference. The other things they discussed, such as the experiences they've had, how it shaped them, the prejudice they face, etc. was far more interesting and actually sparked some interesting conversation.

    i think why more nonbinary people are identifying as lesbians recently is just bc there isnt really a term for a nonbinary person who is only attracted to women or if there is its not popularized. like i know personally i dont feel comfortable calling myself a lesbian because i dont want to be perceived as a woman by other people, but im not bisexual either, i dont want to date men, so what do i call myself then? currently i just say im queer but it would be nice if there was a community/term that was commonly used for nonbinary people who are exclusively attracted to women (and the same for nonbinary people who are only attracted to men). i rly do think in this video the liberal side just did a bad job of presenting their arguments bc while feelings do matter to some extent in these discussion (i mean we're talking about labels that have to do with your romantic feelings and your feelings on gender after all), you cant convince people unless you bring up studies, statistics, etc or even just explaining yourself and why you feel a certain way clearly.

I'm just curious how you support her or at least not pull any of the conservatives up at all - otherwise people might think you hold most the same beliefs as them too? I'm just confused because - knowing she supports trump or is that your political leaning to? Anyway, glad to have some discourse or conversation - just feel some more nuance could be included because it's great to have discussions like this.

    13:54 This really is not true…a huge chunk of doctors that treat transgender patients aren’t “money hungry” and just want to carelessly put children on hormones, that’s not happening. I started transitioning as a minor and the process to go on HRT is a very VERY long process. I had to talk to a psychiatrist and speak to a therapist for over several months to be able to start my medical transition. I know you mean no harm with what you said but it’s such a misconception that doctors are convincing children that they’re transgender when that’s not true. If we want to talk about why people detransition, people mistaken other mental health issues they have for gender dysphoria.

    • @kobi-jy9cv
      @kobi-jy9cv Год назад +25

      it absolutely IS true. just because you personally had a different experience or possibly know about other different experiences, does not mean that thats automatically how it goes on in every place every time. now im not saying that every single case is the same, of course theres MANY cases in which the doctors care and the process takes longer, but at the same time, theres SO MANY cases in which its the exact opposite and you can easily get out of the doctors office with a prescription or a scheduled surgery from your very first visit/appointment. i understand that your intention of saying this is to make it known that there are doctors who actually care, which is good, but in discussions like these you also have to address that theres also many of them that are genuinely just money hungry and as time goes on, more and more experiences/cases like that are coming to light

    • @bladeofgrass8213
      @bladeofgrass8213 Год назад

      @@kobi-jy9cv I don’t not believe there are money hungry doctors but the issue I have is when people who aren’t transgender try and push some type of narrative that all transgender people are “coerced” into believing they’re transgender. Sure there are doctors that abuse their power and don’t properly evaluate patients that may think they’re transgender, but people who put themselves in these situations are just as responsible as the doctor is. This is why education, resources, and research is so important so that people aren’t seeing just any random doctor, it’s important to know what gender dysphoria ACTUALLY is so people aren’t self diagnosing so flippantly. Therapy needs to be mandatory in these situations. It would solve a lot of problems.

    • @CelleSleuths
      @CelleSleuths Год назад +15

      This isn't everyone's experience though. Idk where you got treatment but many detransitioners are saying within 6 months they were being scheduled for surgeries and put on life changing hormones at an age where they can't understand the implications. Of course some doctors are well meaning but most want to exploit your insurance for as much as possible.

    • @bladeofgrass8213
      @bladeofgrass8213 Год назад

      @@CelleSleuths saying MOST doctors just want to exploit transgender patients is an exaggeration. Obviously my experience doesn’t speak for every trans person. But there are a plethora of other transgender people who have had positive experiences with their transition. I find it so strange how people never want to acknowledge the many transgender people that do get proper medical treatment. Because detransitioners make up such a small percentage. And they’re are many reasons as to why people detransition, it’s not always because they regret being transgender or they were misdiagnosed.

      I’m trans and watch people get put on by planned parenthood easy asf and regret it because almost the whole population, especially minors, identify as trans now when they aren’t. It was hard for me to get on T too, and I couldnt even get on it till I was 19 (I came out at 12 and tried to get on hormones since 15. Had every single sign and ppl advocating for me. It was my evil parents who prevented it, but had I had good parents, I wouldve been on by 16 easy.) cuz they’re giving this stuff to kids with barely any real signs of being trans. Ofc they wouldve given it to someone who identified as trans for YEARS and had all the signs. I couldnt go to school and was mute because of my voice. My dysphoria was making me handicapped. I couldnt sing in choir in the tenor section even tho there were no boys in the alto, and I wasnt out, so that was hard. Singing tenor as an alto. Couldnt join the basketball team because I wasnt on T. Couldnt even socialize! But there are tons of kids who go on it when they arent trans and it ruins their lives. I personally believe only if someone has been trans for one year should they be allowed on hormones. And they must be 16 and with parents permission. Because the detransitioning usually happens within 1 to 2 years. And they must be literally handicapped due to dysphoria. And they must have dysphoria cuz apparently u “don’t need it to be trans” now. Which is insane. I dont agree with the “u must be an adult” thing cuz I literally had my teen years fucked up, but yes u must be at least 16, gone through your first puberty, and must be socially transitioned for a year. And there better be better therapists than whoever tf has been in charge. Just like drugs and alcohol, kids will get things. They sell hormones on black market and the ones that r laced have killed trans people. But still, a lot of detransitions can be prevented. Edit: I didn’t even mention the depression and suicidal thoughts due to dysphoria that testosterone has alleviated, and some issues, even totally got rid of. That aspect also fucked up my teen years. Having to live like that. Don’t wish it on anybody. Unfortunately, if u give hormones to kids who don’t actually have gender dysphoria, they end up with it and probably will have bad effects like depression due to it.

    I feel like you don't fully understand that people can identify as more than one thing... like how hard is that to grasp though? As plain as someone being Italian and jamaican...well guess, what a person can identify as a lesbian and be non binary because they feel like a woman and also have a body that presents a certain way they can't necessarily control. It's not like their saying identify as a red popsicle. Like - have you experienced the universe, things aren't as black and white as you are making it out to be. You don't have to go full conservative just cos you have another opinion or disagreed with someone. 'Third gender' expressing people have been around since people have existed and have been celebrated and revered in many cultures for the differences they bring. I identify as queer and non-binary is a word that i identify with - why is that so hard for people to accept. It's not - some people just want a rigid labels to gatekeep.

    what amber is getting at roots from her identity. i think what she’s speaking on is the intersectionality of race, gender expression, and sexuality. we have VISIBLE qualities that align people to minority groups and INVISIBLE qualities. people are first judged by the visible attributes that don’t align with the “majority” and then we are judged by the “invisible.” arguing oh let’s see the LAWS is extremely privileged. poc has historically been effected and barred from spaces, jobs, and resources to live without any laws being in place to legally do so. so that’s a mute point. our identity isn’t consigned by the presence or lack thereof of laws.
    going back to ambers point she “presents” more than those other women because she looks (visibly) farther from the majority. she is black and Hispanic with afrocentric features where as the other woman who is also mixed has more eurocentric features. more so amber present masculine in a body people would automatically deem a woman and “supposed” to be feminine. the other woman presents more feminine. and then we get to the invisible minority groups aka sexuality. lesbians while they face struggles presently, non binary people are for lack of better words less understood. now that nuance could be how the group is very expansive on the definition of nonbinary. with that said even identifying lesbian is NOT the same for white women versus POC women. it’s called intersectionality and no shade but as white lesbians i would encourage you as a long time watcher to read up on the literature of queer poc women and how identifying as “other” in both visible and invisible ways have escalated the prejudice they face that is first rooted in racism, and then misogyny, and then homophobia.

    • @keke3833
      @keke3833 Год назад +4

      i think ambers choices of words as “i present more” was not a wise choice. it’s a subjective experience of her life and those other women could have experienced an immense amount of hardship due to their identity. they also could not have. but only they know. i think in that manner she was projecting some feelings that appear to stem from her past and long gone friendship with one of the ladies there. i don’t think we should always play facts over emotions though. there is nothing factual about any part of a persons identity besides anatomy as it is based on medical studies and science. other than that people can identify however the fuck they want. no one can say one is right and one is wrong. who says our opinion even matters. while you question why they care so much to be accepted in a group that “they don’t fit in” we can equally question why do others care so much that they aren’t accepted by that group. just let people live. we all die anyways. they’re not harming anyone. no one in this video is. just like you said you guys don’t feel like when you go places like camping etc. you’ll be hatecrimed. well nonbinary peeps identifying as lesbian isn’t going to suddenly make you get hatecrimed. we all should just worry about and care about our own existence and our own relationship with our conscious. nothing more and nothing less.
