I have also changed the other thermostat The part appears to be functioning (engine warms up after 2 or so miles, before replacing it the second time it was immediate). I've had my whole cooling system changed, all three leaks address and have used two garages. Both are stuck as to what could be the issue. Could it be wiring? Spanner is early warning. MIL or EML like ‘later stage’ or more permanent. Both MINI and BMW have similar diff stage to warning messages. I’ve same code I’ll change thermo. Thanks .

I have an issue on a 2010 1.6 petrol vvt Astra, my thermostat is not opening and the fan does not cut in, I have had the p0597 code and spanner on the dash, I’ve tried 2 new thermostats with no success and swapped a fan switch in the radiator (checked resistance across the 2 contacts), with the thermostat sensor disconnected and my multimeter plugged into the detached connector the voltage will be around 1.5 and rise to about 5, then the fan will cut in and the voltage will jump to battery voltage on my multimeter, I can then plug it into a loose spare thermostat and can feel the center heating up but as soon as the fan switches off, I loose battery voltage again. The thermostat isn’t opening and causing the car to overheat because the fan does not cut in and I’m getting no flow across the radiator. I’m having a bit of a nightmare with this car, any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated? Thanks. Dave.
Hello mate I have the same engine as this vectra, I haven’t got a spanner light on , but the temp needle goes up and down when it likes then drops to nothing, is that the thermostat knackered, cheers Phil
Hi Sandy, I have the same fault code, after the dealer changed both thermostats the fault still is there, altough the check light is off. I can only see the fault if I use the pedal trick (the car flashes the code via the check engine light), my obd scanner doesn't pick it up. Any ideas? What did you change, sorry I didn't pick it up from the audio. Cheers! György
Could i ask,as i have a code on my zafira b 1.6 2009. code being p111606. I put a new thermostat and sensor in 12month ago. got 5v on that and resistance of 2.55. But there is another sensor just other side of stat that has a clip type afair holding it in. Got 8.5v going to that but,no resistance. do you think that it"s shot? Thanks
NOID light was it called. Interesting. So that checks the wiring current yup ?? Proving that problem at part end. The Thermo !!??? Could you spell the light name to run the circuit check. Cheers. Great video.
My Vectra 1.8 VVT has the spanner light only on ignition but goes out when started up but its got this same fault code P0597 and the needle very slowly goes up but sometimes started going all the way back down to 50 degrees and sometimes all the way back down to the rest pin. Do you think its the same issue as this? I know there expensive for thermostats on these as its a whole unit and not just a thermostat

Thanks for the content i have same code on my w212 mercedes e class…i couldn’t hear quite well your speech after you turned on the engine and my bad for being not quite familiar with your accent…can you please kindly reply to my comment briefly on what should i do to have the right voltage output to the thermostat…thank you and wishing you the best
I get the same code in my chevy sonic 1.8, p0597, I really hope this fixes it, what i notice the fan stays on when a/c is working it doesnt cycle on and off as it should, I will just change the tstat instead of the all the housing because i have already changed the housing, i have the aluminum, due to other issue with a tubing hose

My wife's 2018 Kia Stinger GT2 has that code. I replaced the thermostat (which included a new sensor) and it still comes up as an open circut?

Could be but also maybe faulty sensor. Is the the car heater working as it should, is it nice and hot?

I had to change the thermostat to put out the engine light, if there are no codes/lights I would not worry about any issues cheers sandy
