Good breakdown! One of the things I really like about Alpha Legion this edition is just how many ways there are to mess with your opponent through all the various types of deployment/infiltrate/deep strike/scout shenanigans. Alpharius especially; most of your army can start in one place and then effectively end up in a different place that your opponent never would have expected.
Cheers mate! Glad it still holds up! Theyre pretty perfect for Alpha Legion both playing and against them I think, the 2" come into it so much, and that advanced reaction just feels so so Alphas
Mobius configuration is loyalist only because the allied detachments must have the same alliegence... Its supposed to show the loyalists being tricked in the early heresy
Loads of good stuff in this legion, the trait is solid and the reaction is absolutely bonkers. Lots of versatility with deployment (deepstriking dreads with Alpharius is frigging terrifying). Some of the units you can steal are actually better with the Alpha Legion rule than with their own original legionnes astartes and combinations of mobius config and Dynat/Alpharius can put serious pressure on people for turn 1. On the downside the legion wargear isn't great as I can't see many people wanting to pay for daggers or venom spheres but they are fine if they come as standard. I also think that the Coils of the Hydra row is a total dud, far too restrictive for the gimmick of taking 3 identical special units from another legion. Yeah sure you can put 3 units of tyrants/fulmentaris on the board but a) that's a punchable offense and b) if you roll badly on reserves you'll lose the game whilst looking like the most try hard numpty on the planet. A good discussion though lads and keep em coming !
Cheers mate! Agreed on all points really except I actually really like the power dagger for 5 points! That +1I and rending just makes me want to chance the roll!
3 mor deythan sniper units on the field, and a drop pod assault of space wolves using the mobius configuration. Then just roll in with alpha tacticals to get the objectives and mop up what is left
I think with Dynat you are supposed to use the Precision strikes to allocate hits to as many models as you can for maximum bonus attacks. Sorry if you mentioned it already while going over it
We didn’t mate good spot/plan for that rules usage! I was thinking it’d be based on the opponent allocating during saves but that turns his blender-lord-ness up to 11!
Just had a read. I don't think you get an extra attack for every model you hit. It uses the word "any" which implies that if you hit any models, you get an extra attack. Just one. Otherwise it would throw the word "every" in there.
I know this video is pretty old at this point but Hydran Exemplar on the Lernaean Terminators is actually much better than WS 5 and makes the unit essentially identical to BS 5 when it comes to them attacking atleast. They cant hit on anything worse than a 5+ regardless of Defenders WS, They hit the same against WS 4-5, and better or the same against any other opposing WS in the game. On the defence it could use some work for sure but its not near as bad as you first made it out to be.
Its 3 of the same unit as they may select "up to three of the units selected" and can only select one unit (I actually missed that bit completely, bit of a mental rule IMO)
I think I disagree with the saboteur Support squad are amazing in v2 meaning you use the saboteur to tie them up You can get him double lighting claws as well to be sure to do stuff but if he manage to block one shooting phase he did his job 100% worth it You can do the exact same next to recon sqaud
Fair mate; not a definitive commentary just our thoughts when compared to librarians and other competing character slots but could be a good use of the saboteur!
@@BearfootMiniatures the libby needs to get in range but is probably better in most cases yep but I won't disregard the saboteur through 😛 He is a very good choice and the hesitation to pick him compared to other choice means he is balanced imo! And as always thanks for the review, didn't thought about the headhunter combo before your vid!
@@CaptainPlunk good point on the hesitancy/i don’t know-ness of it Oh mate headhunters are in such a good place now, I just wouldn’t be upset when then died haha
I'd say "jack of all trades" IS stealthy. I think you're confusing the Raven Guard with the Alpha Legion. The RG are the stealthy assassins. The Alpha Legion are the spies and saboteurs! They actually can and will engage in any and all types of warfare in the occasions that they have to deploy at legion strength. Really, a 3k point game is not where the Alpha Legion would be operating 90% of the time. The Alpha's aren't 'stealthy'. They are deceptive. Corax goes invisible. Alpharius Omegon goes 'incognito'. I don't like the 2.0 legion trait. It's a real bummer, and feels really boring to play with and against. Furthermore, it totally kills all the super fun list building you got in 1.0.

Ahhhh I get it then makes sense tbh!
If you think about it the dropsite massacre was the biggest Mobius configuration ever
Surely you can just take a "loyalist" faction of a traiter legion?
Great Vod, really enjoyed this!
Cheers mate, glad we could cover them well!
Terrific analysis here, much appreciated.
Thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed it!
Hope you guys do Night Lords at some point. I can't tell if they suck or not even after reading all their stuff.
100% will mate, going to be starting combing over more and more legions hopefully soon!
For what it’s worth I think terror assault is great especially with prey sight giving such a boost to shoot stuff!

You can't have 3 exodus because he can't take the compulsory hq slot, only the other 2... Fill that compulsory slot with a vigilator
Fair call there: maintains the sniper dominance!

Does the AL’s Lies and Obfuscation work on Bike units to make them viable?
Great vid.

Coils of the hydra faq says all RoT units must be the same unit, not just the same legion
My group has chosen to ignore that silly decision 😊
This is just a garbage faq... I think the point was to take from the same legion but they brain farted to get the result of the same unit...
Eurgh!
There’s gonna be “oh no I’m FORCED to take 3 fulementarus squads” coming from some I imagine…
Would prefer any 3 from the same legion tbh
@@BearfootMiniatures I was also surprised you didn't mention the suzerain
They are probably one of the best if not the best melee unit of the game
@@CaptainPlunk ye suzerain 100%, just spoilt for choice I guess but then all being characters, 4++ in combat etc your right there!
For me it's Rampagers with 4+ Rending Weapon
A good shout on them tbh I’d not even thought, is it just them that you run or any extra little spicy bits?
15 with falanx blades is insane
Nails the wife joke!
Only the best from our Dave!
Hydra Dominatus
For… the emperor….
"Recon squads needed a boost," - not that much of a boost, snipers are abit silly now.
Sarcasm at its finest mate, 100% agree they don’t need a boost
