    I totally stopped using cotton pads (for environmental reasons), didn't like the reusable ones either. I have been using my fingers for the last year, it works just fine. It is simply a habit you need to get used to. Thanks for all the great work you do, a major part of my skincare routine is based on your recommendations. Happy New Year 🙂

    The changing of the mascara is why I really like getting the small mascaras in subboxes. When its gone then it is time to change and I grab another one.

    Yes I agree you did good! My guess is you used fewer moisturizers because you're layering all those Essences and toners so they provide the hydration you need. This is a helpful visual to show what your favorite products are.

    Getting a great skincare routine down has really helped my skin not need as much covering up with makeup! I would never go without makeup before, now sometimes I just do mascara and brows. It's a great feeling!

    Idk there's just something so satisfying seeing all the empty bottles and boxes of skin care. Tells you so much about your own routine, what needs to go/stay, what actually doesn't work after months of application, et cetera. I love the shots of your beauty room/studio with all the equipment. Happy New Year to both of you 🎉🎇🥳

    Anyway, you should change your mascara every six months.

    Great video Sarah! Have you tried reusable cotton pads? I used to use a lot of cotton balls and pads. Now I exclusively use the washable ones and I love them. If you’re looking for 2023 filming ideas, I’d love an updated video on cruelty free Korean skincare 😊

    I'm so happy you're trying reusable cotton pads! Cotton is one of the most water intensive and soil degrading crops. Single use cotton is very harmful to the environment.
    Love all your empties, and you are one of the few people I turn to for skin care advice now.

    • @tomjones2157
      @tomjones2157 Год назад

      All annual plants degrade soil, including wheat, Soy, corn ect. Cotton isn't biologically worse than other crops and at least it doesn't biodegrade to plastics that poison waterways and our entire eco system.

    Just looking at my tallies for 2022 and my most used up product-types were (from most items used up to least): Serums (16), SPF (14- includes some face and some body ones), moisturisers (12- all face, both day and night), and toners/essence (also 12!). Was shocked I got through so much stuff!!!

    I am similar to you - the more I do skin care, the less I do make up :D These seem to be in correlation with each other. I actually find that my skin without any makeup looks nicer when I do not hide it under foundation and powder. And it kind of feels like I am doing something bad to my skin. Even if I afterwards do the double cleanse. Just feels wrong to put makeup on my nice, clean skin.

    This is expensive. I would rethink sponsorships because true fans would know you would still do honest reviews with or without sponsorships. We thank you for all your hard work.

    • @ppp285
      @ppp285 Год назад +4

      There are ways of financially supporting the channel that do not involve her accepting sponsors. For example, she has a patreon. I am grateful for however long Sarah is able to withstand being independent and without sponsorships. Because I've definitely seen from other reputable channels how it can cloud things. I used to really appreciate the insights and advice from Dr. Dray, Lab Muffin, Doctorly, etc., but now that they're all openly sponsored it seems like their videos just promote their sponsors and it does seem like a conflict of interest. For example, Dr. Dray always publicizing Neutrogena, Lab Muffin and Pantene, Doctorly and Biossance, etc. I will always appreciate Sarah's unbiased, objective reviews of products. It definitely factors into a trust that I have for her channel (your channel, if you're reading this, Sarah) that I don't have for anyone else in the RUclips skincare world.

      @@ppp285 Well said. I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed how Dr. Dray has been pushing Neutrogena. To be honest that brand has really gone down hill.

    Goodness, Sarah, no judgements from me of course, but I suspect you could buy a house on what you spend on skincare! 😀😀😀. Well, at least you seem to be off your monthly DE Protini fix, eh? This was the year I phased out cotton pads, but still have wipes around, altho seldom use.

    • @oliviaspring9690
      @oliviaspring9690 Год назад +3

      Maybe but she’s also product testing, which probably leases to her trying to use stuff up faster. Also she can use all the purchases for tax write offs as this is her job.

    I seem to be a light user, I kept mine for the past 3 years and I was surprised it only filled a supermarket bag each year! My exception is lip products and nail polishes and foot creams, I went through around 15 each of those! I have ultra thin weak nails and dry feet I suppose 😅

    I take that Life Extension PEA vitamins for eyes. I read an article that said PEA was a necessary fatty acid that you need. I was having problems with higher pressure in the eyes & afraid I might get Glaucoma. I take one of those a day to keep my eyes healthy. Dr. Dray also loves that Moroccan Hair Shampoo. 😉

      @ppp285 Год назад +1

      I've been using the Virtue Curl Defining Whip (mousse) after plopping on top of my other curly hair products for quite awhile. I love it and have repurchased it. It has keratin which supposedly is actually not good for hair when applied too frequently, but it's one of those things where the dose makes the poison and sparingly it's actually really good for hair. Since I follow a modified CGM (and have for over a decade), I only wash my hair once a week, so it's perfect for me. Definitely recommend it to other curlies who aren't styling too often.
