I am so nervous about eye stuff so when I was told that the only way to remove this godforsaken thing from my eye was surgery I was freakin. I will hopefully do the surgery bc you look great and I hate not looking people in the eye bc i’m so self conscious

Thank you so much for posting this video Laura. I have had pterygium for about 10 years now and I definitely understand what it can do to stifle your confidence. Once my insurance clears, I will have the surgery, hopefully in a couple of months. And seeing how great your eye looks now, it gives me more confidence to get it done. Thank you and congratulations 😊

…. Just completed my removal and here the next day with a ton of pain. Not sure if it’s because they had to use placenta for my graphs due to how bad my eye was. I have a follow up today

Does anyone know if the anesthesia they give you numbs your eyelids as well? I would like to get this surgery but I have a fear of things touching my eye. So even when putting eye drops in, my eye freaks out and rapidly twitches, blinks, and wants to clench shut & it takes me many attempts to get even ONE drop in my eye. Not sure if they numb the eyelid so this doesn't happen, but even then i feel like seeing them get so close to my eye would give me so much anxiety!!

Ms. Laura. I am having a bad situation with my eyes and seeing your video makes me feel like seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! I’ve been to at least 12 ophthalmologists already and I feel that nobody is listening to my concerns, I really need a doctor that can help me. My eyes are red just like yours and they are getting worst and no eye drops are helping and they burn and hurt and after so many eye drops and expensive meds, so many doctors and no changes, I feel so desperate. I would like to see Dr. Vo, but she is in CA. And I am in another state. Is there a way I can make this happen somehow? I really need somebody that can help me! I would appreciate if you can plz reply! Thanks in advance.

Mostly grafts are glued on but better graft take results can be achieved by glue plus stitching if your ophthalmic surgeon has the skills. However, this is more painful in the recovery period. I've recently had 8 stitches for my pterygium graft and another 7 for the pingueculum. 15 stitches in one eye was pain free during the op but it involved significant pain afterwards. For me it peaked at day 4 but was quite tolerable by day 6, though uncomfortable for a few weeks or so.

My eye is clear, but not perfect on one of the graft areas, meaning one of the grafts settled perfectly and the other is okay medically speaking, but if you look closer you can see the contour of the graft and some vascularization around it (I had 2 of these on both sides of same eye removed from my left eye) no re-growth 🙏🏼 Even though I’m a perfectionist, I can admit my eye looks normal and it has changed my aesthetic problem.
