Back in the day, it was believed that the lug nuts would back off while going down the road road. Chrysler was the last ones to hold onto the left hand thread on the cars. Old habits die hard.

Congrats on 50k subs. As far as left hand thread lug nuts, the thought, was that they would stay tight with the rotation of the wheels. Chrysler used them until the early 70's, Pontiac and Buick dumped them in '63. Some foreign cars ran them into the 80's. Also, the ring gear bolts in the 8 3/4 rear are left hand thread as well.

The reason for reverse threading on lug nuts is to prevent the lug nuts from coming loose while the vehicle is in motion. It counteracts the centrifugal force.

That's a lot of metal work, doing awesome Danny! Gives me motivation to start some clean up work on my project when it gets warmer here in Michigan.🍻
Customer car is looking amazing too, nice wheel/tire combo.
I agree with Olivia, rather have a great running, solid car, than nice paint, for me I'd be too worried about it getting dinged, scratched up etc.

I've watched many of your vids but not sure if I saw the same for the Tempest engine, did I miss it? I'm really enjoying your journey, looks like you're having fun, that's what matters!

Product I use for rust is Rust Convertor Ultra. My 57 Fargo I had the panels glass blasted then I sprayed Rust Convertor with a reg paint gun gave them nice even protective coats. I'm happy with the product and its about half the price of Por15. Glad to see you're taking the extra steps. See if Por15 will supply free product for advertising,.or try Rust Convertor.
The more content you put into filming the fewer cars you'll need storage room for lol.. You're being judged by viewers for quality and content yes? Take your time, you two have a lifetime together to do the cars.. Nice work on the Firebird.

I've never seen reverse threads for lug nuts. That should be classified as a 4 BBL carb. Yes, the secondaries are joined but traditionally, it is a 4 BBL. The 400 in a lighter car could be fun. I have a 1968 gto, ho 400, m21 trans and an open 373 rear end.

Centrifugal forces has nothing to do with it on lug nuts as others are stating in here in comments ! The whole idea behind is that engineers believed that drive wheel on right hand side of car has a rotation direction in drive clockwise in all forward drive gears 99.9% of the time, and that the nuts are threaded on in same direction to the clockwise direction thinking they aid in keeping them tight, "in theory" and keeping them from backing off. Left side counterclockwise (left hand thread) because the wheel is spinning in the counterclockwise direction they put a left hand thread nut on it thus the counterclockwise but it has no bearing on lug nuts staying tight even GM did it early on, and they abandoned that theory through testing and education of the design engineers. Only time they use the theory and it does work is if you have a single shaft and something is slip fit or even an interference fit on a round shaft, with or without being keyed or pinned shafts. For instance harmonic balancers as an example engineers could choose to use an opposite rotational fastner as a fastner that would counteract torsional loosening, and vibrationtional loosening because as the shaft of a crankshaft wants to accelerate it wants to leave the harmonic balancer behind to rotate in opposite direction than the cranks rotation because of the mass of the balancer off center of crankshaft.

Cool video! The 3 barrel Holley with the gear drive secondaries is an old school mod. Motion Pro sold them but a few companies made them. Yours is an Elco (cast aluminum gears) Mr. Gasket also made them but had plastic gears. This "Kit" was PRE Double Pumpers. Once Holley made the twin accelerator pump model, these kits faded away. Not sure what year the first double pumper came out??? 1971-72?? What a Cool shop!!!

Looking at other cars of this make , vintage and condition and it`s outward appearance pointed to some cutting and welding and rust inhibiter on this car too.Might as well do the best you can without spending a thousand or more hours on it. Just so the frame rails on the car are strong enough for the extra HP, especially in the back

Hi Guys! I just started watching the video where you are cutting into the old wheel well and have it removed. you guys seriously need to wear long sleeves and gloves and a face shield. it made me cringe when Liv put her exposed arm by the cut wheel well to remove the tire. old rusty sharp metal is something you dont want opening a gash in you skin.Safety, Safety Safety first!

They did reverse lugs on Oldsmobile back in the day my neighbor was a GM engineer back then he told me that they did that because if the lugs became loose harmonically they could come off but if they were reversed rotation they wouldn't loosen when you're driving didn't make sense to me but that's what he told me have a great day thanks for another great video charges looking good thanks for the inspiration and just for fun check out the 56 Packard Patrician with less than 5,000 miles it's mind blowing on RUclipsThe dash is just mind blowing

    - Glad to see you finally showing some actual work on a car. Keep that coming. You need to put the guard back on that grinder, it serves a purpose. And get a full face shield. They are called "death wheels" for a reason. And when working around rusty, jagged metal, a long sleeve shirt is a good idea.
