  • My favorite book, Victor Hugos Notre-Dame de Paris, must be one of the most filmed novels ever So, using clips from various film adaptations, I tried to show the tragic love story of Dom Claude and La Esmeralda in about 5 minutes. The video includes clips from the following films:
1.The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923)
2.The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939)
    3.Notre-Dame de Paris (1956)
4.The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1977)
5.The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1982)
6.The Hunchback of Notre Dame Disney (1996)
    7.The Hunchback (1996/1997)
8.Notre-Dame de Paris - live at the Palais des congrès de Paris (1998)
    9.Quasimodo d El Paris (1999)
    Song: Circuit Breaker by Röyksopp
I do not own any of this nor do I make a profit by it. Enjoy!
PS If anyone knows anything about any other film/TV adaptations in any language (such as the obscure BBC TV series The Hunchback of Notre-Dame (1966) or the even more obscure 1956 Brazilian TV series) please, please, PLEASE drop me a line!!! Thank you!

    Such a great vid!
I really love Frollo and Esmeralda. In the book and in some movies. He loved her so much but this silly girl only wanted handsome men. Really sad :(

But according to ghe original story based on the novel by Victor Hugo, both Frollo & Esmeralda died in the end. Esmeralda never ended up with Phoebe, he was married with another rich girl in the name of Fleur-de-Lys. Frollo was pushed by Quasimodo and that's how he fell for hia death while Esmeralda was hanged to death. Both of them died tragically, their deaths are similar to suicide deaths though for them it isn't suicide, so I believe after they died their souls might be together.

Make a movie that represents Claude Frollo from the book. A good man who hid his sexual frustrations by hiding away from women but when he first saw Esmeralda his whole world turned into hell. I don't like any of the Claudes from the movies. None look like him. Same could be said for Esmeralda. She was only 16, dark eyes, skin and hair of small stature.

Goes for Quasimodo too..he was barely 20..He had education from Frollo and could read and write. He was separated from society by his ugliness. He was physically powerful,(Ringing them bells all day!)anti social, and mischevious, which made everyone afraid of him. He could be kind and gentle,or pushed to murder..

Thank you for your nice comment on the vid; Youre right the true Frollo of the 1923 version ( that is, the lusting-after-Esme one) is indeed Brandon Hurst but I chose to use clips of Nigel de Brulier on purpose; IMO he looks much more priestly/ascetic/tormented (in short, much more like VHs original Dom Claude) than the ever-leering Mr. Hurst

Thank you! As the reply above says, it's a French parody called "Quasimodo d'el Paris". I don't think it's on youtube though.

Twolionss, this was AMAZING. Is this the first fanvid you've made? You didn't do much in the way of effects, but the timing and choice of clips was wonderfully powerful. Also loved how you used the different versions and kind of shipped them together. Great job!!!!!!

Thank you for commenting on the vid :))) I have downloaded most of these films from isohunt / the pirate bay / mininova, using Limewire. If you want just to watch, you can find almost all the film adaptations of NDdP in HugosNotreDames account on youtube. For the NDdP musical in different languages (and various other Notre Dame stuff) try Cossyniers account (actually, its the same guy). Hope I helped!

Frollo and Esmeralda's relationship was based on hatred, lust, lies and dilemmas. Esmeralda loved Phoebus but not Frollo; she thought he was old. So Frollo attempted to murder him and allowed Esmeralda to take the blame. Frollo also allowed Quasimodo to take the blame for the attempted kidnap. After trying to rape Esmeralda, he ended up getting her killed.

@CrimsonRoseOfDanube Difficult question; I change my mind all the time... I guess I'll have to go with the Sir Cedric/Maureen 1939 pair, she's just so beautiful and he's just so virginial. Thanks for commenting on my vid!
