- This week we went to visit the Masaya Volcano. It was such a amazing experience. We recommend going if you are visiting Nicaragua. We went for the 5:00pm showing so we could watch the sunset and see the lava at dark.
Masaya is a caldera located in Masaya, Nicaragua, 20 km south of the capital Managua. It is Nicaragua's first and largest national park, and one of 78 protected areas of Nicaragua. The complex volcano is composed of a nested set of calderas and craters.
Masaya Volcano National Park is the first, and largest national park in the country, consisting of a volcanic caldera with two volcanoes and five craters. Its crater “Santiago” has an altitude of 635 meters above sea level, and continuously emits large amounts of sulfur dioxide. The crater also maintains an incandescence inside due to a persistent lava lake.

Great video!! This is so similar to the video we put out a few weeks ago of our time in Hawaii and the volcano we were able to get evening lava as well. Your filming was perfect flowed so nicely the editing was great. Let the kids know they were great the narrations were well done and it's good to sometimes just give them the camera it's a nice touch they did well. We loved this adventure as I said it looks exactly like several of our hiking and exploring videos. We are new subscribers and supporters of your channel we added this to our list of places we want to go. Best wishes for more great adventures. Videos and a growing channel. Over Christmas we spent the week in SJDL , rented a car from pancho, really nice guy but I put that through hell, im glad it wasn't my car because I beat the crap out of that thing. Not on purpose but just to get around, it was so underpowered I had to, plus the low ground clearance as you know I was bottoming out all the time on the roads.
Ya the roads are something special in Nicaragua. 😅 I do feel like they are much worse here in Costa Rica.
