As I was listening to you, I couldn't stop saying 'tal cual,' which in English means 'exactly.' The anxiety and frustration of wanting to fix every wrong is real. Thanks for these podcasts, greetings from Argentina.
Thank you, Fathers! This podcast is a blessing! ❤Please have a sequel to this. I would love to hear more. Very thought provoking... I'm still processing this eye opening discussion
This podcast is so timely for the happenings of the present time. It is an extremely sad situation that one is only tolerated if one is in step with the majority. Thank you.
A special note: Down here in Lima, Peru, we have just this minute seen a Facebook post by Fr Rómulo Vásquez Gavidia, OP, the Prior Provincial of the Dominicans in Peru, asking us to pray for Father Gustavo Gutiérrez, OP, the legendary liberation theologian, who is 96 and has been in poor health for some time. The Provincial tells us that Father Gutiérrez is in a "very fragile state" at the moment, which I can only assume means he is preparing to leave for the House of the Father.
Archbishop Chaput explains it well. Tolerance in and of itself is not a Christian virtue. It has its limits, in that some things ought not be tolerated
That’s first time I’ve heard tolerance explained like this…. This is what I took away from your video.. (1) Tolerance always needs to be combined with other virtues of love and mercy. Tolerance is not a stand alone virtue. (2) Virtues always need to come to us from the Vertical - from God who is Love, Himself. Only thru God can we have any of the virtues of tolerance, patience, mercy etc. When we ‘react’ to each other without going to God first - seeking His love; His wisdom that’s when the frustration, the confusion and misunderstanding comes in. I know I’m way over simplifying this. I realize I struggle with my relationships because I approach them horizontally. Me vs them. I fail to go to God first to see them thru His eyes. I do this with all my relationships, not just with those with radically different viewpoints. Just random thoughts. Sorry if I’m misunderstanding or reading in to what you are saying. I think I need to listen to your video again and really pray on it. You’re saying a lot here. Thank you. ❤️🙏🏼
you both are trying to be charitable. Start with definition? Your im-precision is ironically/coincidentally an expression of loosening of standards (ie. Tolerance)

Your discussions on mercy are always so good. 👏
Thank you fathers! You always really help my brain make sense of things and bring peace in this mess of life.

Fr Pine describes the coffeehouse experience just as I was making my pour-over from beans roasted by that place. Best espresso and coffee in general!

Be assured of our prayers for Fr. Gustavo Gutiérrez.
Thank you, Fathers . “It’s ok to be disliked for the sake of love” Boom!
...and finally, thank you for the questions ❤❤❤
How awesome, Fathers, that you are persecuted for the Kingdom, by modern tolerant society. Lots of Jesus points for you!
I have not been tolerant for the last few years.

Two middle management guys discussing how to handle their staffs. In theological terms!
...Or. Or! Bourbon Bluegrass and the Bible ❤
...and listen to The Hillbilly Thomists. Oh. My. Goodness. I Wanna Go to Heaven or Tennessee
