    The amount of players that returned to their roster after winning the NBA Finals:
    2023 Denver Nuggets: 10/14
    2022 Golden State Warriors: 10/14
    2021 Milwaukee Bucks: 9/17
    2020 Los Angeles Lakers: 9/15
    2019: Toronto Raptors 9/14
    NBC Sports Boston’s Chris Forsberg On Boston Celtics rumors:
    I think there are 8 guys on the roster now that Brad has extended at some point including every member of the core.So, I feel they’re out there giving security saying go out there and win a back to back title and we will figure this out down the road. It looks crazy right now…
    They’re not worried about it right now. I know it’s more prohibited with the new CBA trying to get off deals and you can’t take back more money, you can't aggregate contracts, it’ll be tough to get off this money but the fact of the matter is they can do it if they have to, they can shed, there will be teams that want these players.

    I said it before and I'll say it again.... This is maybe Wyc's way of discouraging potential buyers and investors. With Horford's contract coming off the books, should he retire after this upcoming season and the Tax Aprons going up by a projected 20% annually, the Cs may just have to pay the fines for 2 years and come out under it in 2027 or 2028 if they do choose to trade some players for lesser contracts down the line. By then, maybe Wyc can get enough money and investors to be the majority owner of the Cs.

      These are all tradeable contracts except maybe Porzingis with his injury history.

    It's pretty simple. They can sign their own players but have to pay a huge penalty. It's Wyc allowing it to happen. They aren't necessarily worried about picking at the end of the first round. They expect to be one of the last 3 picks anyway. They may not be worried about trading away a 1st round pick 7 years from now if they can get another championship or 2.

    • @TheRobversion1
      @TheRobversion1 2 месяца назад +1

      those 1st 2 penalties arent worrying indeed. however, the FORFEITING your 1st rd pick 7Y down the road is worrying and i bet will be reason enough for Brad to get out of the 2nd apron.

    Brad's next BIG move, not this year but down the line, is to trade for Lauri Markkanen and / or Cooper Flagg.

    It’s really not that hard to figure out how he is paying them because after this season coming up somebody it’s going to end up getting traded or somebody is going to be traded when the trade deadline comes up

      i wouldnt say after this season. it's going to be 2 offseasons down the road when KPs contract comes off the books. Either KP re-signs for a massive discount (enough to get under the 2nd apron. the projection now is about 7M per) or he will be signed and traded for picks + cheap big.
      With that said, i wouldnt count out KP signing for a massive discount. he has verbalized the previous offseason that the money wasnt a big deal to him (why he turned down Brad's offer of a max extension and signed a cheaper deal) and what matters to him is being in boston. I bet that love for boston is stronger now after he has won a chip. and he may consider taking a much cheaper deal on multiple years (security).

    The answer is easy: mike zarren. All front offices should have a capologist. It's a travesty IMO that a guy like keith smith doesnt work for an NBA front office yet.

    David Jones 5547 I agree. Wyc and Brad Stevens already know who the new owner is going to be. But, you won’t hear a word from the Celtics. The Celtics can win two or three more championships with this roster. The Celtics have a very young team, except Holliday and Hortford. The only other player in their thirties is Derek White and he just turned 30. When is all said and done, The Celtics will come out smelling like a rose. Go Celtics.

    My thoughts on team ownership and the Celtics brand value vs operating in the second apron is: "Winning in times of no money is better than money in times of no winning." Even if the team operates at a loss but you win another championship, then the team's market value goes from $4 billion to $6 billion as a result, that's still a very very big win for ownership.

    I do think Brad go take his best shot at Cooper, its go take some real clever dealing, then of course u got to give up something to get somethings. Warriors did this for years and was rewarded 4 chips.

    The contracts seem nuts but what he has done is reset contract expectations for the whole league. Player after player on other teams are now going to expect contacts in excess of what Brown and Tatum are getting and the same on down through the level of Hauser. As crazy as it seems what Stevens has done is create a new floor.

    idk how brad and wyc are doing this lol. life is great when youre a big market team with pretty rich owners. ik yall did a great job breaking down the extensions and how brad likes to secure players but part of it bc some of these players earned these extensions. when they brought these guys in the first place they must’ve sold something good to them that made them eager to stay. in terms of hauser 9 mil is perfect as opposed to 20 mil for 4 years. pump the breaks he aint worth that much. 20 mil is like 6moty type money 😊

    • @TheRobversion1
      @TheRobversion1 2 месяца назад +1

      agreed on 9M per for sam. that's the market. Most players of his type (shooter, 3ND) earned about 8M per in the open market this offseason. Klay is the only one who earned more than hauser at 16M per. everyone else earned 10M per (DJJ) or below. so you could say this is a slight overpay by a couple of mil for hauser.

    How much can the Celtics spend on player salary plus penalties and still be profitable? Anyone know?

    • @TheRobversion1
      @TheRobversion1 2 месяца назад +1

      i dont know the exact numbers but last year, the celtics grossed over 400M in revenue and the team didnt even cost 250M with the taxes. to say nothing of the extra sources of money sponsorships, chip prize money, ads, merch, etc brought in. Next year they are projected to cost over 400M with taxes so if they earn as much as this year, they will at the very least break even if not earn a slight profit from all the anciliary stuff (sponsorships, ads, merch, etc).

  • @harrismust2851

    Am a bit curious on how they are going to manage the finances in the long run with the current huge contracts given especially to key players. Just hope they get a lot of sponsorships and other means in order to maintain a championship level team

      this year and next year will be tough but the year after that KPs money comes off the books and the Cs will be 17M under the 2nd apron with 9 players under contract.

      no we dont. Baylor and Drew are here for depth. only 9-10 players play in the regular season outside of garbage time and injuries. even springer will have a hard time getting on the court. baylor, drew, jd, walsh, anton wont. how can svi even be relevant aside from costing millions of taxes to sit on the bench?

    • @TheRobversion1

      @@franciscogarcia7546 sure those are 2 players. I named 5. And i havent even included springer. Do you have more confidence in svi over all those 6? I'd take baylor and anton over svi. Whatever svi has as an upgrade over those 6 is not worth over 5+M in taxes to get him. Nothing to say of filling that 15th spot kills the option to get below the 2nd apron this season.
      Getting svi would also just block the development of those young guys.
