    I’m a male SLP, from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
I work in an adult acquired service. I think that it’s important to sometimes take 5-10 mins out, to reflect on all the positive outcomes from your caseload, over the years. The nice comments, cards, letters; and remind ourselves that we are doing a great job for our patients and our families. If there were no SLPs then they would have a significantly reduced QOL, and we play a large part in helping to improve this, by the strategies, support and encouragement that we provide - you’re doing a great job out there, so give yourself a pat on the back. 👏🏻👌🏻

Excellent advice! It does help to take a moment and remember how far we have come and how many lives we have changed. When you are in the daily grind, it can be easy to forget!

hi! 5 weeks into my graduate SLP program and clinicals have been tough. what has helped me with impostor syndrome is trying to have fun with my clients during the session and trying to stay lighthearted - and knowing that i’m genuinely helping my clients. it keeps things fun when we have a short video break (in telepractice right now) but I think what is still tough is when the client gets frustrated and doesn’t want to do that task :(

That is a great strategy. It is OK to bring confidence to the session, knowing that you are humbly learning the ropes! Laughing is a tool I often use with my clients.

Youre the speech girl right? I remember now you're cute but yeah I suffer from anxiety it sucks and now that and acid reflux with allergies affects my swallowing a bit but my regular doc gave me some pills to help with the acid reflux so hopefully that helps. Food im ok with mostly! Liquids are tricky for me snd I have thisnlike choking feeling at times like someone's gently squeezing pinching my throat around my Adam's apple if that makes sense. Glad you were able to get thru your presentation. 😀
