like s&s motors don't have problems too. get over it, everything has issues at times. this motor is very old and has tons of hard miles on it. you get what you get. tatro
Obviously a person should be leary when buying a used vtwin online without seeing it in person but if you happen to buy a old ultima can you replace the crank with Harley or s&s along with the other parts and build it bigger?? Thanks for sharing this information Tatro
he did look at it and saw a video of it running too. as you can see, that did not stop him from buying a bad motor. with this old 1st gen motor with the 5pc crank, you can. with the newer gen 2 motors with the 3pc tc type cranks, you can't. the gen 2's are way stronger but you are stuck with their parts. tatro
tatro any advice on Ultima R1 carburetor..it came with brand new 100 c.i. Ultima crate engine..it sputters trying to accelerate..idles pretty decent and stay at high speed.. have jets where book says..thought it was rich but pipes looks lean..intermediate jet?
I've seen him take brand new ultima motors apart and checked the fitments of the crank pin and they weren't even close to being within compliance. If you want it done right you're in the right place! I wish I could have had him take my new 113" apart and put his hands into it. Sadly I have a later style El Bruto and the crank is pressed in. I've seen how much he REALLY loves those ones! Lol
I like the.... wipe off every tool after use ...always clean ready for more!

still using tribodyn oil ? been running it for 2 yrs now in my bikes with great results

just make a change and see what happens. if it helps, then great. if not, then go the other way.
