i did my theory before my CBT and treat it just as i did my school & college exams in the 70's and 80's, and that's study, study, and study again till you know all the answers, so that when you take the exam it's easy, and means you dont leave it to chance, waste time, have to do a re-sit or pay twice. I searched online and visited tons of sites, taking more mock exams than you can shake a stick at over about a 4 week period, as well as doing all the hazard perception videos i could find. Although the studying and work is a PIA, i honestly believe because i did so much, (40+ years after passing my driving test lol) it not only refreshed what i knew (or thought i did) it has made me a better rider, especially the hazard avoidance. Many may disagree, but it worked for me and i did actually pass both parts of the theory with high marks and no stress. GL
The official DVSA Theory and Hazard test kit costs £15 for 30 days. If you look around you can find ones that are cheaper and have a lot more hazard videos.
Hiya Tommy, commented once before just wanted to say I really keep enjoying your content. I lost my mum who loved watching your videos 2 weeks ago which was heart break but now I'm getting stronger but slowly. Please keep doing what your doing, we used to sit down with a coffee and watch your riding progress, just turning 22 soon and lost her at 48. Keep up with the good work fella, you're riding has inspired my older brother to get back on the road with a cbt, it's amazing what a RUclips channel's videos can do. Thanks again. :)
Hey, firstly sorry to hear about your Mum. Sounds like you have a brilliant brother to help you through it 🙂 I'm glad your brother has found inspiration to get back out there. Thanks for all of your kind words, and thanks for watching 😀 The next video is looooooooong so you might need 2 coffees 😁
The amount of rain means you may well literally be treading water....here in Warwickshire it has been raining almost daily since last JUNE the 28th....unbelievable...getting on for TEN MONTHS of rain.
Loving the vids Tommy! I'm a 60 year old newbie with only 176 miles of scooting around the New Forest on a little Neco 50 under my belt! Bought it because I wasn't 100% sure that I'd take to it , so I took a punt and I have to say I absolutely LOVE riding a motorbike ! I'm now going to give the Neco to my daughter who's really keen to "learn the art" ,do the CBT and move up to a 125. Then who knows! Anyway, good luck with the theory test and ride safe!
I'm glad you are enjoying them! Didn't take you long to realise how great it is, riding around the new forest is lovely so I bet that helped! Good to hear your daughter fancies a go, show her my videos 😁Thanks, ride safe yourself 👌
One more of us, one less of them... (I got my license at 59 knowing it wasn't going to get better/easier. Just bought my second bike last week. A Honda Grom for daily puttering.)
@whollymindless I really think more people will make the move over to 2 wheels for trips where they don't need the car. That is my plan, I just can't implement it at the minute but you just watch me as soon as my school run duties expire next summer!
Well where I live on the east coast the weather has been really nice apart from the wind, was driving on a B road at 50mph and the wind made the front of my bike lift up, I kid I not I needed to change my pants when I got home lol
Totally agree with you and feel your pain about this relentless wet weather pissing me off big time - here in Kent the weather is slowly improving but its like one step forward the three steps backwards. When you have 200bhp BMW to play with the frustration is running deep. To keep my spirits up I have been compiling address in my green book of cafes so when the weather is good pick a destination for a breakfast and go for a ride with a few mates. Ride safe Tommy 😉👌
All the best for the theory test Tommy, I passed first time, did lots of practice on the hazard perception test before I got there. I found that as a long time driver I was clicking too early so had to learn to restrain myself and click a little later. It would be great to see you move on to DAS training. I really enjoyed mine and well chuffed to get on to a bigger bike. Stands up to the windy weather better than my old 125:)
Thank you. Good work passing first time 💪 I have heard that about the hazard perception test, some people said they clicked twice, once when they see the hazard and then a couple of seconds later too.
I did my DAS last December. It was pretty miserable weather, my MOD 1 test was on a test track flooded with water, I hoped they would call the test off but they didn't. My MOD 2 was much smoother, the weather was still crap but it wasn't absolutely thrashing it down and it felt just like a normal ride, the inspector didn't fancy braving the cold so followed me in his car. Don't be afraid of doing your test in rainy conditions even if its absolutely tipping it down in my case. The test track for your MOD 1 with have fantastic grip most likely so even if there is standing water your bike will be planted. Just make sure you ride safely and with confidence and you'll be grand! My top tip would be to bring 2 pairs of gloves if its raining so that if one pair gets wet you can use the other pair for your test so your hands are nice and warm. I did it for my MOD 1 and it worked like a charm.
I passed in 1994 to a full A licence. No theory tests back then, but I did go from zero to a full licence 1st time. CG125 I passed on, such a great feeling knowing I could ride any bike after passing. Good luck for your impending theory test. My tip, don't over think your answers.
I've got the same bike, in the same situation, I've been out in the rain a couple of times, somewhat daunting but I think if you learn to ride in the rain it'll only help. Always watch your videos. Keep them coming.
I am actually looking forward to trying it in the rain but I will do that when I take the bike home one day as I work in a print environment and it is constant battle keeping the humidity down even without a wet bike and gear in there too!
in reality Tommy you will get caught in the rain if you take to riding on a regular basis. Therefore, it's better to just get on with it to build your confidence. If you are wearing the right gear it doesn't feel that bad. I still think your enjoyment and enthusiasm will increase exponentially when you get on a bigger bike. There is no comparison.
U=You can absolutely guarantee that. I have had rain on a couple of rides before but it was light and not sustained. Hopefully a bigger bike is not too far away 😀
know what you mean about the weather, getting fed up myself, but anytime i get a break in it i'm out, grandparent duty permitting, but my new bike is coming back caked in muck everytime, and i feel obliged to clean it more than i would normally which is a pain, but like you i won't set out in the rain and gale force wind, but if i get caught it doesn't really bother me coz i've got good warm waterproof clothing (oxford mondial). roll on summer, i've some great mini tours planned
Pesky time constraints, I have a fair share of my own! I'm not much of a cleaner, I can imagine that would be annoying if you have a nice bike! Your mini tours sound fun 👍
It is fairly easy thou don't bank on pass first time..the key is to understand that N.o1 is safety in the question No2 is able to ride on the road system...not trying pass by memory sign are by colour and shape not pictures in centre...and plenty of study time... good luck Tommy...
Just done my C.B.T on one of these, i'm going to say what every one says. I wish i done it earlier lol. This bike surprised me on my C.B.T so easy to ride and can get it up to speed relatively quick. now looking at 2nd hand CBFs to buy.
I didn't have to do a theory test. I passed on my Kawasaki KH-125 in 1998 and was restricted to 33BHP for two years and automatically upgraded to full A license after that. I was much easier back then.
I’ve just done my CBT and theory test the other week, I went for the CB125R to ride in until I do my DAS. I used the official DVSA Theory test iPhone app for practice, think it was £5.99 for a months a subscription.. I just fully completed the coach mode in the app. I only did a few Hazard perception clips, probably should have done more, but I’ve been driving nearly 25 years so felt fine with the little practice on that part. Passed first time with 50/50 on the multiple choice and 60/75 on the hazard.

I need to service mine too, just seem to run out of time constantly! I was thinking of doing a video on 'cost of entry' for anyone thinking of doing it. Insurance will vary wildly depending on many factors, it shouldn't be loads unless you are really young, or have a history of accidents.
Tommy post office your riding has improved so much well done. I haven’t been on my bike for 3 months. I ride a Honda nc750x and I’m from south wales 🏴 all the best Tommy I enjoy your videos 👍and I’m only joking calling you Tommy post office
Another fun video Tommy, keep them coming! Tips for the theory test, dunno... As a long-time car driver the hazard perception test is just bizarre. I had a peloton of CGI cyclists racing round an urban street, and then a fox that had escaped from a children's Disney movie to deal with in mine. :( Also, check the headphones they give you at the test centre. The little sh*t who did the test before me had left his or her chewing gum stuck to the headphones I used, so at the end of the test they were glued to my head. Grrr! Good luck with your test. :)
Thanks Malcolm. Blimey that does sound bizarre. I shall watch all of the Disney films before I head in just in case that lady from Frozen walks out between two parked cars 🤣 I shall check the headphones 😦
Thank you, it is all starting to feel more natural now. Had a brilliant ride out yesterday (55 miles) in the sun. Hopefully I can get that video up in the week if I can find the time to edit it! 🚀
Here in Ireland we have to do our theory test, IBT safety course and only then can we get insurance on the road. Is your theory test for a full licence? Which we don't do if it is. For our full licence test, we get asked a few questions on the day but its mainly on the road practical test and yes passed theory test first time.
Nice one passing first time! We have to go in and sit a test that takes about 50 minutes. I have to do it before I can do Mod 1/2 for my full licence 👍
Surely going out in the weather will teach you how to handle crap weather? There's no guarantee that when you set of in nice weather that it wont change to pissing down on your ride, better to know how to ride in torrential rain than not
You are quite right, I have actually been caught out twice already but only short burtsts of rain rather than torrents. In an ideal world I'd just crack on with it, but since I keep my bike and gear at work I can't have a wet bike and clothes in my unit as I'm a printer and it is a constant battle to keep the humidity levels down as it is. If it happens organically I'll deal with it but I'm not going to deliberately give myself an unnecessary headache at work 👍
I’ve just passed my theory test yesterday I passed first time I also used the DVSA app however the questions and hazard perception videos are definitely not the same so be very careful it will help you towards getting the general idea
I’ve been on my bike everyday for the past 4 weeks….I’ve got so wet my waterproof boots have filled with water. Update on the quad lock……broke my phone, vibrated the camera to death….terrible phone mount unless you spend the £16 on the anti vibration and £18 for a poncho. Wish I bought a ram phone holder now 😣
@@TwoWheelsTommy because I thought it was for filming or if your phone vibrated to the point you couldn’t see it…not to protect your phone’s internals, if it’s required it should come with it. Days wage for a phone holder 🤯🤪 better, cheaper, alternatives available
any comment on the 360 camera? Been thinking about buy-in one for using on. tour in Ireland in June, just not sure if I'd bother to use it much if it's a faff, ain't cheap
The X3 camera is great. You have to use their own software for editing but it is easy to use. No other camera will give you the shots that the X3 can take. It is a great bit of kit. There is a new one coming out soon, but I think it only adds 8K. Who can even watch something in 8k?! I'll stick with the x3 for now :)
Very Interesting watching you ride, I am looking at your speedo a lot, and you never go above 40/45 mph on the open roads (probably 60??????, not noticed signs) is that your good practice, or the 125 limitations, I will first look at all your 125 vids first, (out of interest) before I look at your Triumph 1200 vids (which I cannot wait to see, how you change?). I love your vids, basic but very good, commentry down to earth.
Thank you, a couple of reasons for this. It is just twisty and hilly around the part of the island where my workshop is based, and I'm the best part of 20 stone. It takes a lot to get that upto speed! Also building confidence will have played a part but no such issue nowadays. Thanks for your kind words😀
Alright Tommy Lad, Your getting faster haha, Just a note for you when you are doing your theory the hazard perception that you do with the dvsa video is not the same as your actual theory test so don't be expecting the same vids. But saying that if you practice well enough you will be ok so long as your switched on, on the day. Ride safe 👍
Passed the theory first time. I would say don’t overthink the question, most of them are common sense. Also I did mock tests online for motorbike, but when in my actual theory test, hardly any of the question in the mock test were in the actual test itself, some people see it as a test, but I see things like the theory and practicals are just proving you are safe to be on the roads. Like for example, just think the examiner as a different instructor.
I think you are right, a lot of the practice questions have answers that are clearly incorrect. You'd be mad if you picked them as the answer. That is some good advice, thanks!
Do you have any theory test tips?
Let's hear them!

I wish you all the best
Now I can book my DAS 😃
@warhobbit7951 Good luck with your DAS 💪
@@TwoWheelsTommy thanks 🙏🏼
Same to you on your theory and the rest of your motorcycle journey 👍🏼
@warhobbit7951 Thank you 🙂
I’ve been on my bike everyday for the past 4 weeks….I’ve got so wet my waterproof boots have filled with water. Update on the quad lock……broke my phone, vibrated the camera to death….terrible phone mount unless you spend the £16 on the anti vibration and £18 for a poncho. Wish I bought a ram phone holder now 😣
Blimey, rather you than me! Oh that sucks, how come you didn't get the vibration damper?
@@TwoWheelsTommy because I thought it was for filming or if your phone vibrated to the point you couldn’t see it…not to protect your phone’s internals, if it’s required it should come with it. Days wage for a phone holder 🤯🤪 better, cheaper, alternatives available
@BleachDemon99 They are bloomin pricey but I have found the stuff to be good. I got most of my bits in their sale so that was a bonus.
any comment on the 360 camera?
Ride safe 👍
Yes, faster as the confidence increases! That is good to know, I guess as long as they give me an idea what to expect that should do the trick :)
Take some lessons on a 550/600cc... apart from that, study and mocks, lots of mocks, do as many mocks as you can, over and over... 👍
Yes! That is the plan. Apart form the bigfer bime bit, I'll do that after my theory 👍
Get out in the rain lad. Go in your garden and shout at them rainclouds 😂😂😂
I know I should, I will soon enough!
Quick question what camera do you use for your headcam
@StevenSawersMusic The main camera I use is a Gopro 9 Black 👍
